The model is a physical representation of quite literally the worst thing to happen to the background of 40k. From that I think its obvious what my feelings on it are.

Cypher and Celestine were definitely the best things to come from it all. I was originally going to pass up on celestine but might pick one up the more I go back and look at the model.

incidently on the rumors part of the forums someone psoted some pics from the WD that suggest the problem isn't so much the sculpt of the head as the paint job is horrid.

I think the Forge World model is does a far better job of capturing the Romanesque aesthetic that the Ultramarines are going for.
I also have to echo the sentiment that armor looks very Thousands Sons. If those points were just a bit more triangular it would be a dead ringer for chaos armor.
And that's before getting to size and proportion. Maybe some one with convert him to a giant chaos lord. Let's just hope that some one isn't GW.

It's ridiculous.
I don't have a problem with the styling or the bling... he's a Primarch, after all. His armour can look a little different and a little fancier than everyone else's.
My problem is simply that it looks like a 54mm model shoved into a 28mm game. That's partly down to the ridiculous size, and partly down to the proportions being all wrong even by Space Marine standards... he's proportioned differently, and that makes him look like he comes from a different model range.
Having the Primarchs be so large was a poor decision in print made worse in miniature form.

You got me, that is hilarious. I know we are comparing Forgeworld designers to Games Workshop designers but most of the models coming from GW have been off in recent years. Guilliman is a prime example. Look at the design of the chimera. Old. Simple. Aesthetically pleasing. It looks like it belongs in the 40k setting.
Then take something like the Taurox:
Like...what the hell am I even looking at? A fisher price or lego toy? Who in their right mind approved this?
The best model to come out in recent years is hands down Cannoness Veridyan. I don't know who worked on her, but they knew what they were doing. Hopefully we'll see more from said designer/artist.

taurox's biggest problem is the paint job. a more weathered paint approuch and iut might look alright. the paint job enhances the fisherprice look. give it a nice weathered olive drab, maybe replace the tracks with wheels and it's look good

Paint job change acceptable but kit that requires as substantial change as track to wheels(which aren't included in the kit) is NOT acceptable. Especially for that price.

And they nerfed the Chimera to make the Taurox look better.
The Guilliman model is a big miss. His face looks dumb, his proportions are off and his armor has far too much bling. Thankfully as a 30k Ultras player I own a FW Guilliman. Good to know I can play him in 40k too if the fancy strikes me

Awful miniature (and I use this word liberally considering his size). A big miss from GW and a clear downgrade from the FW model

You'll be labeled a conspiracy theorist for saying that but yes that is exactly what they did. The chimera "coincidentally" increased in point cost with the release of Taurox. As they share similar/same roles, with the Taurox having a lower point cost than the chimera it incentivized players to go out and purchase & field Taurox instead of chimeras.
My biggest beef with the new Guilliman model is the proportions. It just looks unnatural. If you look at the primarchs released by Forgeworld, none of them suffer from that. I think the face of the new model looks ok but since the proportions are off its hard to look beyond that.

I voted other. I'm split on it really.
I don't really like the MK7/8 design elements (I know this is new armour crafted by Cawl). I would have preferred to see some older 30k-ish armour with some ad-mech elements bolted on.
The pose is a bit strange, and to be honest the bare head looks way too much like Joffrey Baratheon from GoT (which bugs me).
The model does look "grand" though, the iron halo is cool and I do like the optional helmet.
I find it strange that GW have given the display model a "standard" paint job (which looks a bit sloppy IMHO). I think it would have looked much cooler with a pass from the 'Eavy Metal" team.

Then they did crappy job at it since chimera is still better.
Also the whole idea that new unit=broken rules to sell models is just urban myth. For every such unit you can name new unit that had crappy rules.
It would require actual competence to write deliberately broken rules to sell kits. GW design team doesn't have such competence. Rule power level is more random than design.

The model looks great with the helmet. If you don't like it because hes giant - your problem is actually with primarchs - not the model itself. If you issue is with proportions - you must just hate marines in general.

I admit, the helmet is much nicer than the head, though as others have suggested, perhaps the head could also be saved by a better paint job. The proportion issues of Games Workshop are something I came to terms with when I was a kid and now even appreciate as being part of Games Workshop's stylistic repertoire (along with pauldrons). But you are right, I don't like that he is a giant. Admittedly, not being up to scratch on any lore I can't find outside of 1d4chan, this is something I only realized about Primarchs this week! And if space marines are already 7 feet tall, how fecking big are the Primarchs? And isn't Vulkan even bigger again? That said, my main issues with the model are actually the Tzeenchian filligree and spreadeagle pose.

No, my problem is with both, as I said. The Primarchs being giants was a silly idea on paper, that looks even sillier in miniature form.

I think you have misunderstood the proportion complaints.
The issue with his proportions isn't that they're correct fora human. It's that they're not consistent with the rest of the Marine range. GW's range is stylistically proportioned in a specific way (chunky bodies, giant heads, hands and feet) Guilliman, by contrast, is tall and skinny (seriously, dude would have to be a stick inside that armour) with more 'normal' sized hands and a much smaller head. He's proportioned more like a 54mm figure than a large heroic 28mm figure. So when you put him alongside 28mm figures, he doesn't look like he belongs there.

Is it possible that his armor is somehow tainted? I mean we don't even know how he's come back to be. Maybe that's not the burning blade....but an actual daemon weapon.
