Clocked this in Inferno.

Secutarii Peltasts can swap out their Galvanic Casters for Rad Carbines....

Which means I can now field my Vanguard Skitarii in Heresy. Which is nice!

And if you fancy going completely Hatstand, you can also equip any squad member with an Arc Rifle - so although points intensive, Super Heavies can be toasted in no time flat!

It's also nice to have a cash cheaper alternative for bulking out numbers, particularly compared to Tech-Thralls.

Ooh, that is nice!

So is that only 1 guy per unit with an Arc rifle, or is it 1-in-x?

Vanguard are quite a bit cheaper, but yes. You can take them 20 strong and put them in a triaros, and they always have BS5, cognis and preferred enemy.

Gonna be honest here but why?

The Secutarii guns have better potential because of the Various ammo types

Now i know Rad Carbines are AWESOME in 40k, (where they become OP if given rending) but honestly, why?

Any guy can be given an Arc Rifle. Unlimited haywire in a unit...

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Nah, their grenade launchers are straight crap now. The flechettes now are only S2, so poor even with shred; the AP3 rounds now cost 3 points per model which is a lot; and the parabolic rounds always kind of sucked.

So rad carbines and as many arc rifles as you need is the way to go. The unit leader also gets much cheaper upgrades (although has to be the omnispex guy so kind of awkward if you have that to random troopers instead.

Parabolic Rounds are nasty though.

Sure, their stats don't look much, but if you get some good template positions you can seriously wrack up wounds.

Well, yes - 1 resin Titan and the rest plastic...

Well, depends on what you want to field.

The option is absolutely there - but if you want to include Automata, it's still resin heavy.

Reckon I'm going to break out my Taghmata book soon, tot up how many points I've currently got, see where I'm up to (I've got Kastelax and Domitar for my Iron Warriors, so they'll still be counted).

And this year, I'm totes getting the other Ordinatus for some Sonic Laffs.

You can totally convert a bunch of those out of plastic: Kastellans to Castellax (very easy to convert, attach bolter/flamer barrels to the inside of their hands and I've found GSC mining lasers make nice darkfire cannons), Kataphrons work well as Myrmadon Destructors, Cawl and techpriest Domini as arch-magi and magos-domini etc. I'm currently making tech-thralls out of flagellants and left-over mechanicus parts (kinda feel the FW are, whilst very nice models, far too uniform looking for hastily built cannon-fodder).

My friend (he's sort of new) has 500 points of EC right now. He's probably going to expand using 20 plastic skitarii and the Domini.

I suspect that's a typo on the Arc Rifle.

Jeez, I hope so. Otherwise they are garbage and I think I might wind up with a spare box of Skitarii I may want to convert over... so here's hoping for a speedy FAQ/Errata from FW. Not going to hold my breath though!

Inferno. They're Secutarii Titan Guard but you can swap weapons for the plastic variants. So we can finally use the plastic GW minis with the Mechanicum. Unfortunately they can not be taken as compulsory troops unless you field a Titan. Still nice for bulking out a Mechanicum force with something else besides Thralls.

Yup.

So take a couple of Automata units, fill the rest with these guys.

They don't get the usual Skitarii boosty things - but they do have that nifty shield (re-rolls 1's of a save, enemy shooting -1S if 10 or more standing, might have that benefit the wrong way round) and a new protocol - you can get +1 BS and Overwatch at BS2, but you lose 1 WS and I think Initiative (haven't read it often enough to have memorised it yet)

Omnispex is still available, but is taken by the unit's Alpha, rather than one of the trooper.

For a 500 point allied detachment you just need an axiarch, 20 plastic skitarii and 3 thallax.

It seems pretty strong as well. Loaded up with radium rifles they're killing quite a few marines a turn. And what with the armor re-rolls...

And the potential for BS2 Overwatch with Radium filth....

Tap the Marines up with a Rad missile of some kind to drop their Toughness, then have a good old fashioned pray'n'spray lolfest.

That isn't how Rad missiles work, sadly. Rad-phage is a per model basis. You shoot a missile at a Space Marine and you will likely kill it (Fleshbane, AP 3). The effect doesn't linger on the squad.

Also, sucks the Axiarch is not an IC, meaning he is going to be a priority target for sure.

Further complicating it is their non-comp status without a Titan in the same detachment. That makes it tough to fit them in comfortably, imo, without getting spendy on the Allied detachment.

Not that I can see, no.

Titans are Titans - Warhound, Reaver, Warlord, Psi.

Pretty sure it is just Talons that can. Not that it generally factors into a normal game!

How so?! Are gold armies not popping up in your area in droves alongside shiny red ones?
