They say it's in the vein of Space Hulk or Space Crusade, but those games have HUGE boards to traverse. I only see a few tiles here, looks like a couple of rooms at the most... is this just a case of poor messaging or is it really nothing like those games?

Hmm...

The design and the look/feel of the miniatures really do look very Prodos-y and/or Unicast-y, if that's a thing...

Overall, I'm not a fan of what's shown so far, and 'only' two factions is a tough way to start, but totally understandable.

I do wish them luck though!

The BoW demo was basically just a snapshot that only had a few tiles so that the BoW staff could get familiar with mechanics such as unit activation, different colored dice, etc.

This is a response from Warforged staff to a similar concern re: tile count on the Kickstarter page: "We are still finalizing the number of tiles in the base game. At current count, we are planning for 16 tiles. However, that number may change based on gameplay and production considerations."

Actually the KS has a thrid faction, the Uprising (rebellious humans). The universe described on the Warforged page also mentions another faction, the ARK.
"5345
Raids by ARK ships begin. They go unnoticed at first but a lone Ark ship is witnessed retreating from Karhen, an Authority colony world, after destroying the colony and a Mantra shrine-fleet.

5472
A battle at Belgren between Mantra and Authority fleets is interrupted by an attack by multiple ARK ships, the first time the giant vessels have been seen working together. The ARK ships attack both sides without discrimination." http://www.warforgedfc.com/timeline/

Wow, 14 day kickstarter? Are people doing super short KS like this now? I know its kind of annoying painful to sit through the middle-days doldrums of a 30 day KS, but on the flipside, you give people that don't come online all that often to find out about your project.

14 days just seems super short and you're invariably going to miss a bunch of people that would have pledged if they had only known the project existed.

The super short ones like this seem to have super long late pledge periods, as the campaigns drag on for upwards of years.

After the initial funding it seems to become an extended preorder period.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The first post needs updating with the Kickstarter link.

These two guys have brought so much gaming joy to me over the years, it would be rude of me not to consider heavily. And, as a self-contained game the artwork and miniature design is really cool, and I'm sure worth a punt.

Finally, I would have to get hold of that sci-fi Ganesh regardless of whether I play the game or not

I would pay attention to Ninja Division's current boondoggle with Super Dungeon Explore v2.0. It is looking like it will be a year late, and they have three other kickstarters in the works that look like they are drumming up money for SDE (recent attempt to 'cross market' with some sketches).

I am still waiting for SPM/ND to deliver SDE:L before I give them any more of my money. I hope to receive it by year's end, but we've not yet gotten a firm schedule.

Not everybody can do a 40-day Kickstarter like Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5... The 14 day KS maximize the 1st day and last weekend effect if you don't have a lot of filler / unlocks. Premarket to your existing customers, open with EBs to cover your nut, show off the details and unlocks for a week, and then lock it up.

Half a dozen pledges short of the goal now.

Quite like the early bird idea, extra miniature if you pledge before a certain time

@War forged:

Looking at your funding totals, I have a question:

You have lost funds (and backers) for the past 3 days, and the losses are accelerating. You have already rolled back from the 1st SG, and it is likely that the project defunds tomorrow.

What are you going to do so that the project doesn't completely collapse?

Honestly... I'd probably say a lack of interaction and the shorter campaign hurt them. 2 week campaigns can be great once you were established and done an existing thing. It is harder for a "newer" campaign to do. On paper it sounds great, first and last week tend to be busy with the lull in the middle so by eliminating the lull you have a packed campaign. However funds go up and down easily in a few days so those little dips are less noticeable on longer run campaigns but have a bigger impact on a shorter campaign.

They funded on the 19th, then made an announcement with a SG unlock on 21 and then an announcement about the cancellation on 24. On a shorter campaign there should have been at minimum one post a week in the updates, along with a bigger interaction.

Then mix in some smaller flags, like not knowing who is doing manufacturing. Then you have Soda Pop and Ninja Division a bit over-extended on a few projects in my opinion. The gameplay video which show'd an example was a "small sample" as they said it is a larger game but didn't really give an example of what that meant. So the scope of the game seemed small for what you got. I'll also add hex bases issue... although they can be rebased, it makes it more work to use these with any other game unless we're playing on a Battletech map. You could technically not even care about the hexes and use them in standard terrain mini games but they look out of place amongst all the other circles.

A lot of KS with EBs get EB backers who pledge on spec. If the project fails to live up to the promise, they drop. EBs are an double-edged sword in getting early funds pledged, but the project needs to backfill the expectation.

In this case, it wasn't looking like the game was going to get the stuff that the EB backers had expected. It just didn't seem to be checking enough boxes for a lot of potential backers, especially as it didn't have the rules and other answers ready.

I've seen other ex-GW KS roll back, where the KS was launched more on ego and name recognition than value and/or gameplay. GoA, for example.

They just posted an update that they're going to cancel and relaunch in 6-8 weeks with more to show. I think it's a smart move, and that can sometimes really help a campaign as it adds a lot if exposure. One of the top 3 most funded Kickstarters took this route! (The Coolest cooler project)

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the reboot

So the project is currently funded when I look at it - is it being canceled due to the downward trend?

Edit: Guess it took me too long to write that sentence, got answered somewhat lol

A shorter campaign should be updating DAILY. Really, *every* campaign should be updating daily.

Quite frankly, the game looked cheap and chintzy, so it needed stellar gameplay values to justify the pledges. ND needed to have had PnP released on Friday, for demo play over the 1st weekend. And the value proposition should have been far better. Also, the forces looked goofy and uninspired.

Finally, the whole "Warforged" / "Reforged" was confusing to me - I really expected the game to be a WotC-licensed Eberron 5E boardgame, about the Warforged / Reforged magical constructs...
