How do?

So I was at Salute! a few weeks ago (much recommended if you get the chance), and to my surprise the Forgeworld Stand had a decent supply of the limited edition Horus Heresy Legion Dice - specifically Sons of Horus and Word Bearers (there was a third one, but for the life of me I can't remember which Legion. Either Emperor's Children or Deathguard).

But.....they're sold out, thought I. Is this a sign of new stock coming through? Well, sadly not. But I did learn something which may be of interest.

See, when Forgeworld are off to an event, the stock they're taking with them is booked out and put aside roughly six months ahead of time. Which explains why these otherwise OOP dice could be bought.

So far, it's something I've only noticed and 'confirmed' for a single event. But, I'm off to Warhammerfest weekend after this, so shall be keeping a beady eye out just in case.

TL/DR version? If FW have recently sold out of something, it might still be available at an event or Expo.

Aren't those dice commonly in stock through their webstore?

Sold out ATM.

And have been for quite a while, along with kits for both HH and 40K.

So far as I'm aware, none have come back on the website?

I may be wrong though - it's not something I've exactly kept an eye out for.

If anyone attends an event and finds Ironwarrior dice I will pay you the cost and shipping and a little extra for picking them up for me! Damn things have been gone for ages :(

Lol, maybe half a year at most. And at least they've been properly taken out from the website, while Corsair Upgrades have been "temporary" out of stock for ~14 months now.

After seeing the Sylvaneth dice, I would not touch their dice with a 10 foot pole. They're not even close to being regular in shape. Irregular dice don't roll randomly.

There's a difference between GW dice and FW dice.

Rounded corners for a start.

FW has stock set aside specifically for events that stay in a warehouse that isn't touched by normal orders. When they run out of something, it's restocked, likely they never sold the dice much and it is just sitting there.

The limited edition FW Heresy models such as the UM Standard Bearer turn up in GW stores if they are having a Birthday event.


Could be something to consider for your anti-Scalper movement.

Like these (apologies for the huge image)? See where some of the faces touch at the edges, while others do not? That's irregularity, and that skews results. The Sylvaneth dice had rounded edges too, and the same problem. To be fair, the HH dice seems to have LESS irregularity, but if it's still visibly off-true, I wouldn't touch it.
