I'd say both would have been acceptable but I'm sure folks appreciate your being straightforward and honest about it. Congrats on the progress (even with a minor hiccup)!

Honestly, I thought it looked fine with the busted barrel. It just looked shorter is all. But yes, thank you for keeping us all in the loop.

Thanks a ton, warboss, and I appreciate that, Barzam. You're very kind to say it looks fine even busted. I just know I'm very particular in the WHISPER models and how they're presented to everyone.

In other news, I bought a couple badges for Thursday and Friday for Gencon 50. So I'll be there. Don't know about Saturday or Sunday, since those badges are sold, but meh, we'll see what happens.

It's your literal job in this situation to make mountains out of molehills (if you're doing your job right that is) and things will/should be magnified for you. I actually did think it looked fine (reminiscent of the Halo assault rifle pictured below) but sticking to your guns because it is an unwanted change that backers didn't approve is laudable as well.

So you're attending or presenting at gencon? Even if just attending, it may be a good idea if you've never gone to get a feel for the con first before paying for a booth. It's been a decade since I last went but look in the program listings for GAMA (Game Manufacturers Association) seminars for new creators/companies if they still have give them. They used to have an hour or two a day worth of presentations to help out new game designers. Apologies if you already know about that kind of stuff or if my info is out of date.

Well, I went, I saw, and I experienced. Gencon 50 was eye-opening and mind-numbing all at the same time.

And I also received a little something from Impact! to share with everyone.

Giving folks a sneak peek at the resin flash points for reference for cleaning when you receive your rewards and pre-orders. I think this will also be helpful for those future WHISPER participants who wish to buy the models in retail.

Here's the update!

Indeed, congrats! I'm curious to hear your thoughts, Brandon, given it was the big 50th anniversary and the only gencon that I can remember (and I've been paying attention since 1994) to sell out of passes ahead of time. Was it mind blowing as a fan/gamer..or in your more newly minted role as a producer? And how? (assuming you can share details)

@Al, Thank you. I have high hopes for the future installments.

@warboss

I'd say it was mind-blowing as both. Not only was it the 50th anniversary, it was also the first time I have ever entered a convention. I got there with less than 45 minutes' worth of sleep the first day for opening, and I literally spent over 12 hours just wandering the entire complex to soak it all in. During that time I was able to find quite a few amazing smaller producers, including the fine gentlemen behind GIGA-ROBO, and had a demo with the creative designer, Alex. I'll actually have to create a story just from that demo. I also demoed Heavy Gear Blitz at the booth for one day, and we were at it all Saturday. Thursday and Friday were 'personal' days, but given that I had so little sleep on Thursday, I completely passed out and missed the morning rush for Friday. I ran into a bunch of Infinity players in the gaming hall (PS: Those guys are awesome), and I also ran into the guys from Sailpower, who were holding an event that was approximately 8 hours long on Friday that I unfortunately missed, but was there to talk it up with a few of them.

And there were the cosplayers, the indie developers, IELLO, the announcement from Fantasy Flight Games about Star Wars: Legion, and on and on and on.

In the midst of all of this, my brain was truly processing so much there was no room for me to take it all in. I didn't even attend any of the events and panels.

Not only that, but my casting/sculptor partner, Impact!, had a booth that was featured in the local newspaper, and they were performing way above the average even from their tiny booth. Tom was literally jam-packed from the beginning when I met up with him and received my tiny gifts, all the way to the end of Sunday. It was, in short, a busy time for all concerned.

And here, following the standing pose Sokar/Bastet, I have the Raptor finished in assembly for you all to peruse: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1671822853/whisper-mecha-miniatures-45-60mm/posts/1975025

I'm glad you can make it and it's probably better to suffer the shock and awe as a first timer while a visitor vs as an exhibitor. I havent gone for about a decade now and it was an impressive sight years ago when it was smaller.

Yeah, it's really expanded. I kid you not, the entire downtown area was gamer-up. Even the bars and hotels were holding night-long vigils of roleplaying games, wargames, Catan, board games, and card games.

All sorts.

Also, just for those who might have missed my update on the Facebook group, I wanted to post it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1671822853/whisper-mecha-miniatures-45-60mm/posts/1978303

The new production sprues arrived a couple days ago, and I'm off to cleaning them up for all the Backers.

Update as of March 20!

WHISPER is going to Adepticon 2018 with three miniatures for sale, and will also be made available for sale through Impact Miniatures' webstore.

For your viewing pleasure, I also added a host of pictures to the Kickstarter update from the good Backers who have shared on the Facebook group.

Hope you all enjoy!

Impact Miniatures will have a retail booth there. As for me, no, I am still in planning stages for the next step with more WHISPERs, and possibly some other miniatures for the game. In the meantime I'm hammering at the rules, and I hope to get something going on that front shortly.

Many thanks, Barzam. I won't be able to make it as I'm still looking for work at this time, but I'll still be available around here, on the KS, and on the Facebook group and elsewhere.

And yes, I intend to include more pictures from those who share their works, as a way of thank-you to the Backers, supporters and fans.

Congrats! On an unrelated note, do you still update your blog or have you mainly moved to facebook for posting hobby and/or rules stuff both for Whisper as well as Heavy Gear?

Honestly I have not been back to my blog in a long time, warboss. Sorry. I suppose I should try and get back to it. Things have been all over the place since I began the Kickstarter last year.

Are the Mecha all cast in Trollcast resin?

Spincast resin, yes sir.

Impact! has fixed the Trollcast of earlier years, which now makes them comparable to any other spincast resin around. Simply put, no more issues with painting.

And stay tuned, because the next wave is soon to come.....

Thanks for the update and no apologies necessary. You're not under any obligation to update it and I was just curious if you were instead posting stuff in your facebook group.

For a large part, yes. The WHISPER Facebook group is becoming the nexus of my updates. I'm currently in the process of preparing for the second wave, so to speak, within a very short time period. Just going over some of the goals.

It might be a good idea to post a link to that group here in the thread or alternately in your sig. I didn't even know it existed (although I'm a facebook noob relatively) and was referring to your DMZ HG group actually.
