Need a little break from Antares, and Graven has his contest going. I’ll link the thread here soon, but I have an hour in on my entry. Bat-Night of the living dead.
Zombicide Batman.

Thanks guys
I’m liking how he’s turning out, but almost seams sacrilegious to not paint him black or dark blue, maybe the cape. Though I’m thinking it will be dark brown/ bear fur as he is obviously in a fantasy world and those colors or dark green would be more prevelant in the wilds.
Also on the sacrilegious note, what color should I do his beard? I was thinking it should be black, but once again I feel like breaking away from the norm and I’ve been playing with orange beards, but blonde could be fun as well. or go grey.

Cloak grey? Or beard grey? If beard do you think it will be washed out by the armor. I’m planning on making the armor darker still, but that was my concern. Though a grizzled veteran does sound perfect.
Viktor von Domm wrote:in second the grey...old man bat methinks!
Same question as above, will it work with a metallic armor where the beard meets his chest plate?
inmygravenimage wrote:He looks great bug. Cool concept.
Glad you approve , but I really hope you isn’t to call me bud and not bug we call one of our girls bug, and it would just feel weird for you to call me that .

Viktor von Domm wrote:If grey gives you trouble you could always go white for the beard...so substantially brighter...pale blonde so to say...
Well I started with the grey. Hopefully the base color was enough to seperate it from the armor. Let me know how it looks so far.
Red Harvest wrote:Make 'im a ginger and paint his beard accordingly. With the twin axes he already has a Nordic look.
That’s what I was thinking, but the grey won out and paint hit it last night as I was not ready for bed.
So I painted and watched some walking dead when I got home last night.
Getting the armor a little darker with lots of layers of null oil.
fur is getting darker and skin is looking less pink with the contrast.
Not sure about the cape, but it gives a good contrast to the rest of the model.
Let me know what you guys think. This has been a good palette cleanser and much needed break from my Ghar painting.

Hey You started the whole Batman thing, and your knight competition. I think I goofed up the cloak by trying to do some weathering
Also as a stretch goal the python knights will be joining the frey.
Also added to that are the figs I forgot to take pics of, and just started painting (almost done with now) Sir Schwarz the black knight, and then two villainous monsters a fluffy bunny and the magenta beast of Aaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhh!
Pics in the AM.
Well before I head to work today I thought I’d bring you all up to speed.
I really hope if they do another fantasy zombicide that we get some knights who say Shin.....or Ankle....or some other lower extremity part. Also we need the which on a scale and some taunters of a French persuasion.
Sir schwarz got painted before I thought about taking a photo. The zoom really shows me some mistakes with the stormhost silver highlights and accidental carry over to the cloth .
The abominabunny in his devilish smirk. I keep hearing “ why so serious?” When I look at him .

The shading is many MANY layers of wash over a really light colored paint.

That vorpal bunny is the stuff of nightmares. Well done.
Have you figured out what to do with Batranger's beard? It might look good with streaks of white-- my beard is doing that, and while it doesn't exactly lend me any more dignity, it certainly makes me look older.

Batman is just too Serious to be a python player. He is always finding clues, while the python sketches are always without a clue

His beard is a grey as others suggested. I think I’ll have to try a close up shot in the morning. It’s just different enough to his armor now that I have darkened the armor a lot.
So the Covfefe beast has made an appearance. Someone needs to trim his bangs, he’s like a sheep dog.
Still a bunch of work on it to do.

The Rabbit of Caerbannog. Very cool. And the Black beast of Aaargh as well. Minis that are just fun to paint. Gotta love 'em. And nice work on them.
The saying goes that the Devil's greatest trick is to convince people that he does not exists.
Perhaps it is the Python Troupe's greatest trick that they have convinced people that they are without a clue. Those guys were clued-in AF.
The Batranger's beard blends into the armor still. Maybe up the contrasts-- make the beard a bit more salt and pepper? Or is it a photo lighting issue. I get those all the time.
