Hi guys! I'm looking to buy some models on the Norwegian version of Craigslist
https://www.finn.no/96914488
Could you help me identify the metal models in the back of the picture and give me a rough estimate of what you would pay for the whole collection? I've just started playing tyranids, so i need a lot more models. Some of them are painted, but I thought I could try stripping the paint?
Thank you!

The metal models at the back look to be an old metal Broodlord (the one painted red and black) along with what looks like to be one complete and two incomplete old tyrant guard models. There is also an old zoanthrope and a ravener. There looks to be various complete and incomplete metal biovores, carnifexes and gargoyles too.
I mean there is a fair bit pictured in terms of metal models but they are fairly old (3rd ed and so on) so may not be to everyone's aesthetic taste, plus it looks like a fair bit of work cleaning, stripping and assembling/fixing all that broken stuff.

Thanks for having a look at it. Are the genestealers from an old edition as well? I think I saw the rest for the biovores in the box. What do you think I should pay for something like this? Automatically Appended Next Post: Just the genestealers are 150 usd new

Yeah, I think the genestealers are older plastic versions, although IMO you won't really notice that much once painted up nicely. I mean, it's probably a good deal in terms of sheer model count but you need to bear in mind the work it will take to clean them up and fix them (assuming you have all the missing pieces of course), plus to make a viable army list I suspect you will need to invest in some other models - I'm not a tyranid expert but I'm guessing you will need some of the larger monsters as well.
Of course, the price really depends on supply and demand in your country. I am assuming you have scoured ebay for similar bulk deals?

I have looked on ebay a bit, but haven't found anything that interest me too much. The armies are mostly painted, and i like painting them myself. I tried to find a rough estimate of what i would have to pay if i were to buy all the miniatures in the listing new gw and the metal ones from ebay. And i found that it would cost me about 430 gbp. I counted roughly the average price on ebay for the metal figures.

I prefer metal models often enough. Big metal models can be a bit of a challenge however and not necessarily for the better. An inexpensive sonic cleaner can help step paint. With metal models you can use strong paint strippers so that is good. A small jewelry cleaner costs about 15pounds here where I live. Without that it is possible to strip and brush off most paints but other replies are correct to note that this will take time. If I wanted a tyranids armybthen I would start with this as a base. Sure. Paint up the clean models while you slowly work on stripping what needs stripped and add the stuff you want as you go...

I counted no less than 3 metal carnifexes, 2 of which are Old One Eyes.
You have no idea how GIGGITY that makes me. Or how jelly (I still have yet to find the original grinfex, but I have a ton of OOEs).

Imo that's a bit of a junk lot with bits missing or poorly assembled with odd armaments. Many of the models have been superceded by nicer ones.
Personally I'd not go more than £100 for it.
Your 130 doesn't sound too far out.

A product called Simple Green works well to strip paint. It is also non-toxic. It even works on plastics without damaging them. It takes a few days but just soak the models in tub of that stuff.
Most of these are 3rd edition. I really like the hive tyrants of that era. That metal flying one is quite a find.

I just parted all the metal pieces and threw them in a tub of white spirit. I'm guessing that'll do the trick. Simple green you say, where do I get that? Is it like regular dish soap?
I got all the missing pieces from the guy, so all the models are complete. Just missing the spores with the biovores, but I can make some of those myself.

Here is their website: http://simplegreen.com/
Simple Green, in the USA, is typically found in the automotive cleaning section of retailers, but you may occasionally find it with the laundry or heavy duty cleaning materials. I prefer it to strip my models, as it is non-toxic and can be poured down the sink when done.

I'm not sure about Norway but it is available at Amazon.com. Make sure you get the concentrate.

You can also use Castol Super Clean from the auto parts store. But, make sure the use gloves with them. It will burn off skin.
You Super Clean you can throw the model in it for a couple hours and wipe off any paint no matter if it's enamel or acrylic. It won't dissolve plastic or metal.
Be warned if you toss a plastic model in acetone it will dissolve completely.

Thanks for the tips guys. I read on some Norwegian miniature sites. The clear winner seems to be something we call "redspirit" its 70-95% denaturert etylalkohol. Also the Norwegian equivalent of Pine-Sol. I guess ill try those before i go through the trouble of ordering online.
