I think there was some youtube guy that recreated the sause at some point.

it was basically repackaged sweet and sour + bbq sauce.

The story is that Justin Roiland was very fond of the sauce, and Dan Harmon liked to hassle him about it.

Yep. For a nation that's meant to be so divided on big issues, people sure are spending a lot of their energy on trivial stuff.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I'm kind of expecting an episode now where Rick finds a world with Szechuan sauce, steals all it, and that triggers a series of riots that eventually somehow escalates into another world war. Something absurd like that seems to fit the show.
Also season 3 is overrated especially the pickle episode. The only episode I really liked was when rick got into a pissing contest with president keith david

Its not the sauce, its the show. We're talking about super R&M fans here. There's a video of some guy jumping up on a McDos counter and yelling stuff like "where is my goddamn Szechuan sauce?! I'M PICKLE RICK!!" or some nonsense like that. Its pretty nuts. If rick ranted about BBQ sauce you'd probably see them buying it up wherever they could.

I thought Season 3 was better than the previous 2, but I think 3 also dumped a lot of the more wacky plot premises of previous seasons to spent more effort into the shows existential pondering. Pickle Rick I think was the only episode that actually followed the format of previous season. Not to mention a few characters have made noticeable heel turns. I think the most obvious is Morty who is nowhere near as dumb as Season 1 portrayed him as being by the end of Season 3. His childish naivete has been reduced from a defining character trait to something that really only comes up for laughs.

Personally I thought Vindicators 3, the Rickshank Redemption, and The Rickturian Mortydate were the best episodes of the season, but I have to give it to Ricklantis Mixup for taking the shows more intelligent edge to it's ultimate extreme. Unfortunately it just wasn't a very good episode until the last couple minutes.

I just love that now McDonalds has said they will bring the sauce back this winter in more significant quantities so that everyone can have some... which is going to result in McDonalds sitting on a ton of the stuff after no one wants it anymore.

It wasn't good enough to keep around after the promotion 20 years ago and I don't think anything has changed since.

But it's a real Catch22 for McDonalds though. And thanks to the people posting the Wendy's social media stuff, made me laugh out loud at work this morning.

Times have changed a bit in 20 years. If there's any decent spiciness to the sauce, it could stay around. People seem to love spicy stuff these days.

Or that Germany was only under the control of the US, France and English. The Soviets also had control of a big chunk of it, and East Germany was not the same as West Germany.

I grant, the allies as a group all had PsyOps organizations working hard, but the Russian's used a more class warfare minded approach where as the US and England focused instead on forcibly instilling guilt in the entire German population, regardless of involvement. Of the many many programs lumped under the broader heading of denazification, this one has continued to yield results to this day, despite being abandoned in 1950. This has led me to more than once to ponder if this has left Germany just as mad as the Nazis, just in the other direction.

McDonalds are absolute masters at making use of surplus products. Just wait a couple of months after this nonsense blows over, and all the unused Mulan sauce gets used in some special BBQ burger or something.

I'm not sure they think Szechuan is an amazing sauce, they just got caught up in the novelty. It isn't about the sauce, it's about being part of the fandom.

Same reason people were paying $500 for a tub of sauce. At that price they're not dipping nuggets in it, they're keeping it. Its a collectible.
