That's super weird. Curious how they want Papa Palp presented that would cause that. Like he was always a little odd to be on the battlefield directly, but fun regardless.

They couldn't outright say but the inference was that Palpatine was involved in future projects by LFL/Disney and they wouldn't sign off on a presentation that might contradict that. Quite what they'd do with Palpatine as a character that would be such a drastic diversion from his existing portrayal is beyond me but licencing approvals are a weird process and it could have been something really pedantic or specific

And it seems more like AMG just wanted to be able to use what Palpatine and the IRG did on other new minis.

It really feels like saying Lucasfilm told them to cut those minis is just an excuse for not knowing what to do with the minis that they wanted to pull rules from to use on other stuff.

Mhm, as I said, par for the course for Schick.

See last post on previous page, seems pretty clear it wasnt an LFL thing.

I don't play Legion myself at the moment(WEGD64lyfe yo) but if the previous page is "par for the course for Schick" then he seems like a completely reasonable designer with logical thinking? Palpatine was always an odd duck in the context of a wargame and was likely only ever included because FFG & Lucasfilm were always obsessed with things being "iconic" rather than them making any particular sense(see the endless parade of Extremely Specific Troopers who are all Stormtroopers which are the entire military, because every new thing's toy being super snowflakey for marketing is more important than a coherent setting).

If AMG's intention is to steer the game more towards being a wargame in the Star Wars setting rather than Nuhuh My Favourite Character Could EASILY Beat Up YOUR Favourite Character! Wars - which the customisable leader and operative units suggest they might be - then retiring the character and unit that require you to tie your brain into a fractal pretzel to justify their presence on the table and using the design space they were occupying to enhance and enable other things is completely reasonable. Sucks for people who bought the models sure, but them's the breaks and now the turns are tabled; as people who are fans of using movie characters in every game always used to tell people who wanted Your Dudes - guess you'll just have to find something to Counts As.

Following that logic though why any named character? What are they doing involved in all these tiny skirmishes? And why Krennic? He wasn't even a soldier but an administrator.

Seems that's why Shadow Collective has been ignored the last year or so as well based on a Maul announcement from LFL this morning.

There isn't any logic to it. It's a swindle so they can sell new models. Couldn't even be bothered to make it a "legends" character or whatever so people can keep using it. Thanks for the cash, enjoy the unusable figures.

The trouble with your attempted argument is I do follow that logic - being required to use named characters even though it often makes no sense(and is kinda boring) is one of the main reasons I never took to Legion. Krennic probably shouldn't be in the game either, nor Tarkin nor even really Thrawn(although he at least sometimes likes to get his hands dirty) so by all means cull them as well and use their design space for more reasonable characters.

Shadow Collective has been ignored since the mini faction dropped, can't really say that AMG's continued pattern of ignoring them and a new Maul teaser is honestly anything other than circumstance.

AMG (and they inherited them from FFG) have consistently tried to temper expectations by saying that Shadow Collective aren't a full faction and won't be supported as such. They're a Battleforce and somewhat limited in scope. Not entirely ignored given they're getting a new core choice (pirates) and the speeder tank but I wouldn't be surprised if the new Maul show broadens the scope (including the rumoured Darth Talon-esque character). There's always Savage, Pre-Visla, Crimson Dawn and possibly Nite Owls.

Due to the tariffs, AMG have announced that the June new releases have been postponed in the US. Appears they are still being released in June elsewhere.

For Legion, this means the Outer Rim Outlaws and the IG Assassin Droids.

To be fair, Asmodee's distribution is haphazard at the best of times so the tariff situation is just going to be another thing to pile onto the reasons stuff gets delayed in some regions. UK is still waiting on the March releases. Bigger concern for Legion is probably the new starter sets/card packs.
