So me and my friend are pooling together on an order, anyway I'm gonna get the peltast upgrade for skitarii and a leviathon dreadnought with the grav flux bombard arm.

But I was wondering if what you'd recommend on there for space marines, something you find fun or that you feel like you have to auto take every time.

Presumably for 40k? Sicaran's are nice but the relic rule makes them tough one to field IIRC.

Legion specific contemptators are often great looking. I'm loving my Sons of Horus one.

Maybe consider getting smallish Custodian ally force? Couple sprues of Prospero box and dreadnought could give you solid small force to field.

There's no rules in 40k for jetbikes right? Pretty models.

the relic rule really prevents you from using too many options. The leviathan and sicaran are usable just need two other units in the same foc slot. Single LoW's like the fellblade, falchion or spartan assault tank can be taken. Just looked, sicaran is elites and leviathan is Heavy Support so you would only need one other unit in each of those slots.

Storm Eagle, but that's probably because I play CSM and really like the 20 man capacity.

And the weapons.

And the movement.

And the fact that it's like ~20 points more than a Land Raider.

Okay. I think it may be between this and the sicarian battle tank

In the games I play S7 is the key number for me, lots of tau and DE

Leviathans are fantastic, my favoruite looking thing from the Horus Heresy era.

Deredo Dreadnoughts are a solid choice, can have some great weapons.

Contemptor Dreadnoughts are actually pretty good for there points cost and some of the legion specific ones (WE maybe the nicest in my eyes) look awesome.

Xiphons are solid and they look frikking dope.

Sicarans are good and the chassis looks awesome!

Plenty of choice

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.
Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

all the forgeworld flyers are awesome. A contemptor is also nice and the sicarans are also really nice kits.

currently, I'm assembling a sicaran omega and 3 jetbikes for HH, the sicaran patterns are pretty doable and most patterns have decent/good rules.

Contemptors, generally. The Relic Contemptor profile isn't strictly better point-for-point than any other Dreadnaught, but it feels like a scary stompy robot in a way that most Dreadnaughts don't. (Addendum: I haven't used the Leviathan, but I've seen it in action and would recommend it for much the same set of reasons.)

Though the most consistently effective Forge World tool I've got is the Fire Raptor; its armament plugs a lot of holes and it's hard enough to get rid of that it gets to use all that firepower.

The Relic Contemptor is definitely better for the points compared to the vanilla codex one.

Leviathan is strictly better than all dreads. It has a 4++ save and hits on 2's. This alone makes it better than all dreads but there is more. The weapons. Just take a look at a grav flux bombard and you will thank me. Plus - leviathans also come stock with 2 heavy flamers in addition to their 2 arm weapons. There is also a double autocannon option which gives you 20 str 7 2damage shots. I am actually surprised that people complain about AM instead of these busted things.

Fire Raptor - the original Space Marine Dakkajet.

Soooo much Dakka!

They're a pain to put together though. 2 Guys from my gaming group had me assemble their raptors because it was too difficult for them.

Since I was looking at picking up a Leviathan myself - what are the Relic rules and where can I find them?

I was looking through a buddy's actual Index but I didn't see anything about it. Was it in an FAQ? I only plan on maybe buying and running a Leviathan, but what restrictions will I encounter?

The trouble with the dakka leviathan is it's short range, I've played plenty of games against one, and think I've lost less than ten models to them across all those games. Because of how devastating it is, it's a first turn target. A cc one in drop pod however, causes some problems. I'd personally go for the contemptor out of the two, as it isn't as much of a threat, it generally gets the opportunity to cause more harm, in my experience.

+1 for the Sicarian Battle Tank and Xiphon.

Every list I field has a Sicarian, and the Xiphon is a fantastic flyer. If you don't like the aesthetics of the Xiphon, the Lightning is just as good and costs similar points.

What is the range on those autocannons? 36? 24? I don't remember. Obviously it's a high priority target.

I love sicaran tanks.
The newer variants make them even more fun.

They are quick and easy to build, look great and play solid.

My one thing to mention though would be from a middling perspective.

If you don't build alot of forgeworld, do not get yourself a fire raptor or storm eagle just yet.
They are the epitome of pain in the ass models to build and have a bad rep for always requires alot of hours prep work just so parts fit.

Mine took around 6 hours to straighten, cut and fill just so it goes together as it should.

You can only take a Relic if you already have something non-Relic with the same Battlefield Role in your detachment. So basically, you need a second Heavy Support option to take the Leviathan.

Which isn't a terribly hard requirement.

The rule explicityly states you can still take 1 Relic Lord of War without taking a non-Relic Lord of War. It only limits taking 2 or more Relic LoW's and gives you access to a strategem.
