So let me get this straight....they dropped the Horus heresy special heads...yet introduce necromunda special heads?
Truly FW has gone to Specialist games with a hint of 30k, and if are lucky and have been good boys and girls and wish very very hard, something for 40k

Yep. That's definitely excellent.

The Helmut model is brilliant. The Paint, not so much. This gives me confidence that A) there will continue to be interesting, "gritty" models from forgeworld like overweight dudes with chainsaws, and B) I could paint for them if really wanted to.

The Helmut model is fine, the paint job is awful.

Can't agree, the chainsaw in particular is dreadful, the hair is weirdly sculpted with very little detail and the whole thing is aesthetically at odds with most of the BB releases I've seen so far. It looks like a mediocre 3rd party effort.

The HH special heads are still available. It was the torsos they dropped.

And the torsos were always kind of a weird addition. I can totally see them for HQ choices or Sergeants but most basic troopers have their bolters firmly planted in front of their torsos.

I love those masked Goliath heads! I actually really like most of the Escher ones, too. The Van Saar and the Orlocks on the other hand seem a bit disappointing to me.

Van Saar set is garbage. Not only really similar to plastics, I like how all the heads are male even though 2 out of 10 minis are female. Really? Instead of giving us a few girls to replace the token ugly bald head the plastic kit had (especially seeing their excuse 'they are all balding anyway' is gone with almost all of the set sporting hair...) they double down on the same-same?

There are female heads - look at the photos of the heads on the bodies.

I have to admit, Inwould have liked some van Saar heads that looked like the female hanger art in the books.

That, and Karla von Kill looks very different from her artwork. It's a good model, just... not what I was hoping for/expecting, for her.

But also, aren’t they two different teams working on them and specialist games.
Or is that not a thing anymore?

It's ironic for us ancients who remember when FW was at least 60% tank variants and superheavies for Imperial Guard. Those used to be their bread and butter. I saw so many Elysian Drop Troops armies both on the field and on online galleries, and now that entire range has disappeared, never to return. Oh well. Things change.

It's at least comforting to know they still have good sculptors working for them.

I used the torsos for poses where you would see most of it i.e. capt, lt, sgts, vehicle gunners/commanders. too bad they've not been available for a while. at least the heads & shoulders are still going, for how long?

I'm really hoping that they'll do a made to order for Elysians, a la the Vostroyan release. Even more hopefully with semi-sane prices?!

Does forge world do made to order? And they definitely won’t be semi-sane prices if so.

I doubt we're going to see any repeat of the Elysians. They're just really bad kits that had low sales for a reason.

Because they weren't the WW 1 German regiment who got all the love instead.

I beg to differ. I always found the Elysians one of the best FW range:
lot a very dynamic figures, great looking weapons,
we even had the seated guys when the range was complete.

One can dislike their style of play, very different from regular guard,
but on the modelling side, nothing but praise on my side. And I own the whole range.

I bought another lot just before they axed them last year, and
feel sad the range is now gone, really.

German/French- the DKoK owe a lot of design influence to the French military in WWI too.

Elysians got plenty of love. Three IA books as a major player in the story, a whole range of kits, continuous rule updates, and even the aesthetic bits. The reason the army sucked and went OOP is that the kits are a nightmare to build. There's only so much that "love" from the manufacturer can do when trying to build the army is an exercise in frustration.

Strongly disagree here. Half the poses are stupid, the heads (at least without the gas masks) are awful, parts don't fit correctly, and if you want any special weapons have fun cutting out tiny handles and splicing pieces together. My DKoK are so much easier to build thanks to better kit design, and suffer from a much lower rate of "WTF is that" models.
