What’s the worst, most one-sided beatdown you’ve ever had in a game?

For me it was a tournament match a little while ago. I was playing an Iron Warriors walker list. Bunch of helbrutes, contemptors, scores of cultists, Warpsmiths, that sort of thing. My opponent brought 2 shadowsword baneblades, and a command detachment of 5 Leman Russes. He had a relic on the HQ Russ that gave a reroll bubble, but gave a special reroll against Chaos for all hits and wounds.

We were playing on a table with no real cover or LOS. He put all his guys in a tight formation to get them all in the reroll bubble, and then won first turn. The event coordinator was walking by and took one look at the situation, then clapped me on the back and left me to my fate.

By the start of my first turn about 2/3 of my army was gone. Rerolling all hits and wounds on volcano cannons and lascannons let the baneblades wipe out huge chunks of my army between them. The Russes took care of the rest. My only redeeming moment was a Warpsmith making a Hail Mary advance up the board to flame/melta the HQ Russ and score Slay the Warlord before being subsequently annihilated.

I was tabled before I could go in 2nd ed several times.

I recently conceded to IG after his turn 1, voluntarily not taking a turn.

I played my friend once and he just happened to draw all the cards for the objectives he already controlled and it ended up being 11-3 even with me almost tabling him.

Worst I got was in 7th Ed I was tabled turn .5 granted I knew it was coming I was doing it just for memes basically.

I was playing a ravenwing deathwing list, vs nid cult.

Get got his from the shadows, summoned up like 20 cultesrs all with hand flamers and wipped out all my units under shear volume or hand flamer fire. Was funny as hell.

We did a repeat of it with him running a baronel court

Dark reaper spam and shining spears tabled me top of turn 2. Storm raven + razor backs + guilliman was not the answer. Re-rolled a failed 3+ for Guilliman and then failed his raise ability and that was game.

LOL, Bobby G's reign was short indeed.

Probably vs. a Necron Airwing. It wasn't fast, but it was the opposite of fun when your army list's only plan for shooting down planes is literally "pray".


The fastest game I've ever played was when my opponent started a single dreadnought on the board. I scouted up to it, melted it, and then he lost because he had no models left.

I lost my 2k dark angel gunline agaisnt dark reaper spam in 8th edition. He didn't tabled me, but in second turn I only had alive 2 intercessors and a Chapter Ancient.

I only killed 2 Swooping Hawks. But to be honest I deployed like ass in that game. My opponent did spent 20 minutes checking LOS during his deployment phase. I deployed in 3 minutes

I was playing a game as SM with a GK ally in 8th, 1000 points each, and we basically got eviscerated by an Eldar player @ 2000 points. I think he tabled us, and we took out all of about 300-400 points.

That was right after the Eldar codex hit. We were not exactly ready for that game.

Turn 1 I lost 90% of my army. The guy had like 4 lascannon lines and primaris lines with pappa smurf in the middle. Every single lascannon hit and wounded with rerolling and did a good 4-6 damage each for like 80 damage to everything I had tank wise. Primaris lines then fire and hit almost everything and wounds kill off everything I have. My 2 hqs survived behind a wall. Girly man then walked up turn 2 and 1 hit killed them both.

Whelp, I've lost every single game in 8th so far. Which is about 10 currently.

Most of my losses were close. but one game against DG was pretty nasty. Morty friggin ravaged me. .I was not ready for him in the slightest. Then one game in 8th at a tournament I got routed by wraithguard spam, nearly tableing me before turn 4.

Worst beat down was in 8th against Ynnari. It was a 2000pt game and despite the game going for 3 turns, i didnt remove a single model in my opponents army. It was a game of the dice gods just having it in for me. The entiree game i couild not roll above a 3. My opponent had 6s coming out of his ears. Lost my knight to 4 fusion pistol shots from a single squad 2nd turn. It exploded and did 1 mortal wound to the transport they were in and then my 3 squads around it each took 6 mortal wounds each.
Unenjoyable game for both sides as even my opponent started complaining about my lousy dice rolling.

In 7th ed I played my Dark Eldar against a friends Grey Knights. It was about 1000pts and the two of us play regularly and generally have close games, but this time I rolled like a dog and was completely tabled without killing a single model of his. I've lost games quicker but never seemingly so one sided.

My worst was against an Imperial Guard army, before I had any sort of transports like rhinos. You tell me how a 4 foot slog up the table without transport works out when the enemy sits as far back as possible, with loads of artillery.

Not quite 40K but shadow war armageddon- I set up the other guy set up and went 1st. He got a shot on 1 of my guys and knocked him down. I had to make a morale check and rolled box cars. Game Over due to morale failure.

7th edition 2000 points my Dark Angel Lion's Blade (with 500+ points of free stuff) vs. Tau Riptide and Broadside missile spam. Turn one he wipes out 5 Razorbacks, a Devastator Squad, an Assault Squad, and a chunk of Tactical guys. My turn one I stun a Hammerhead, kill about 2 Pathfinders, and drop like 3 wounds on a Riptide. His turn 2 he kills everything of significance I have left. There were still a few guys but nobody who accomplished much. If he played out his turn 3 I was tabled so overall I lost about 60 Marines, 5 scouts, a captain, a chaplain, Ezekiel, 2 Attack Bikes, 8 Razorbacks, a Rhino, and a Drop Pod.

My opponent lost 2 Pathfinders. Points cost wise it was about 2,490 to 22 in losses.

Worst game in 8th edition was against Tzaangor Rhino Daemon Prince spam with my Guilliman Ultramarine gunline. My rolling was sooooo bad and my opponent saving throw was tooo awesome that the combined firepower of Lascannon Devastators, super charged Hellblasters, Grav cannon Devastators Assbacks only killed one Rhino and pick off 3 Wounds from the second one even with the rerolls hits and wounds!!!! Then it was basically game over. The rest Rhinos charges into Guilliman after killing the screens with their SB. The 60 Tzaangor run over every infantry units left, Daemon Prince killed all vehicles and Dreads before smiting Guilliman to death and even with CP reroll he do not stand back up. Got tabled by upper Turn 4. His Fallen has not even doing effective damage. So it was basically my 2000pts army (which is being called "too OP" on internet) got tabled by 1500pts army within 4 turns.

Scooped top of one playing Corsairs (partially homebrew) against a Guard/Imperial Fists soup list after the Manticores destroyed all my vehicles. Most of my wiped-in-two-turns stories involve Manticores.

Back in 6th starting out with chaos vs tau. Like every game. RTide, kablammo, markerlights, splat. Have a farsight bomb on your zerkers DC. Welcome to 40k! Lol. I had a real tough time against those tau, but when I did beat them it was all the better.

Then I shaved off my spikes, grabbed some aquilas and pledged my soul to the corpse emperor. Then it was a whole different story for those tau! Haha!

I got tabled repeatedly during my first tournament as a 12 year old. I brought my a totally unoptimized Space Wolves list and just got crushed by Darmonhunters and Tau, as I remember. The Tau Fish of Fury beat down was particularly brutal.

Sometime back in 4th or 5th, with my first foray into Tau, I got hit by Jaws of the World Wolf. What didn't run off the field got mauled in the following charge. I think that was turn 2.

About as bad was my getting stomped by Pink Horrors back in 2nd - my entire force got turned into additional pink horrors. It was enough to make me drop out of 40K until the game above.

Didn't come back to 40K again until the end of 5th when the newCrons got released, and staying away from the jackholes I'd previously been playing against.

I used to play against my skilled, lucky, and cheesey friend in Warhammer 8th edition. We got tired of him beating me easily so he once played an army half the points of mine in a pitched battle. He still totally massacred me...

I wanted to try out how awesome landraiders were in 8-th - after the initial hype. So, i faced an ig player that brought nothing but plasma deepstriking comsquads with tempestors for re-roll orders. basylisks and bauble wrap. All i got left by the start of my turn 1 were a couple scouts and a semi-dead landspeeder. Conceded.
8-th sure emphasises how crappy igougo is when dps goes to 11 and there are no real ways of mitigating it if you happen to go second.

With 8th a bunch of my buddies took interest in the game and one of them got a good Deal on tyras. So we play our First Match, ive got a Chaos Marine gunline, bolters, flamers and some noise marines. We never had hordes b4 in our meta and i was actually pretty scared of outright deleting him, giving him a gakky Experience. His Unit of 30 genestealers then proceeded to soak up ~1000 pts of shootIng for 2 turns with like 6 of them dying. I then told him to have fun in his First melee he would win. i explained to him that he got his 5++ and his FnP shenanigans like a 3++ (srsly Not kidding, i took notes for disbelievers) and he deleted me off the Board. Good Times, but man that hurt.

Fun fact: he quickly became the Most loathed die roller of our group gotta love that guy

On a side note: hes New but Not a Bad Player. He just rolls really really well.

This Edition is super Killy - if you make a couple mistakes it could cost you the game but then again that is part of the learning equation.

Back in 3rd or maybe early 4th I played a game of mostly footslogging Orks against a guy playing Ravenwing. I didn't have much that could catch him so he was able to kite me while blowing my Boyz off the table with his Heavy Bolter attack bikes and Assault Cannon land speeders. Because it was some sort of Meat Grinder mission all of my Troops units respawned after being destroyed, but not anything that posed a threat to him like my warbikes. Because my units kept respawning my oppenent couldn't table me, which would have been a mercy. I don't mind losing, but it was just disheartening to know that there was basically nothing I could do. I should have just conceded but for some reason that never entered my mind as an option.

My opponent was a nice guy and wasn't list tailoring against me, it was just a bad matchup and not enough variety in my list.

2015 summer, first tournament in 7th ed for me, took rather weak(ish) IG army with baneblade for laughs. Ran into daemon list that was basically immune to my tank heavy army. Think I caused more casualties to MYSELF than to enemy

Had 2 or 3 games in 7th against Decurion Necrons. Could hardly kill anything the Necrons fielded while getting nearly tabled all the time - with Nurgle CSM.
We decided to not use the decurion anymore and then after Traitor Legions dropped we had balanced games.
Granted, in 8th actual tabling happens nearly every game unlike in 7th, but so far it hardly feels one-sided, even if you lose.

Reminds me of our games of warmaster with my high elves that were so broken that even with twice the points and BOTH players trying to figure out how to deal with elves they still just roflstomped everything.
