On the pictures avaiable I can´t see everything.

Is this the easy-to-build terminator lord on the left down side of the DG army? So the only new unit is the UM hero with the scabbard?

Also this looks like the result from 100 or so issues (if they spread the sprues like Deagostini did). The UM also get the 2 scout team variations and even the Calth box heroes. And the DG gets all the 15 pound dudes, but also gets the easy-to-build PM and the chaos cultists twice. What a mix.

Why couldn't I have had my current income when 5 Aspect Warrors were £2.99 a blister...

Lord Felthius yeah he’s in there.
Only new model we know of is the UM guy yeah.

It’s 80 issues. We don’t know if they are spreading sprues, though the wording somewhere at one point was Most issues have models, so I’m guessing a couple of issues may not of the one before had a big kit (how they will deal with that for non subscribers just picking single issues I don’t know, but for the £32 a month here is 4 issues guys, it’s easy enough to manage)

I’m imagining that stuff like the Tanks will be spread across consecutive issues. Just seems to make sense.

May well not be though!

I think Hachette may be planning some special issues if the survey that was available at the trial run indicated that potential subscribers were favourable.

I remember BGiME had movie editions for The Two Towers and The Return Of The King that fell outside of the numbered weekly issues. The figures that came with those issues, if I recall correctly, were the metal Gandalf on Shadowfax and mounted Aragorn respectively. That was DeAgostini but if it worked for them...

There are some special ones. 4 throughout. You pay extra on top of your £32 that month.
Ignoring LotR one as it was a different company, but they did it with their Black Library magazines

What were they, out of interest.

I’ve a complete run of the Dredd Megacollection, and am around 1/3rd of the way through the 2000AD Ultimate Collection, and neither had/has such extras?

For clarity, I’m not doubting!

2000AD has them. They are collections of covers with larger dimensions, the first came a couple of months ago (you should have had a letter in the delivery before letting you opt out if you didn't want it).

Judge Dredd didn't have any.

Does anyone know if the "Starter" brush is indicative of GW brush quality these days? I haven't used a GW brush in decades and I'm looking forward to testing this, but the "Starter" brand leads me to believe it's not a great brush (for reference I use W&N Cirrus, for anyone familiar with those, though I doubt there will be as they seem increasingly rare these days).

The brush is absolutely the worst thing in the magazine. My advice would be throw it straight in the bin. Along with the "painting guide" - shocking that it advises to paint straight on to unprepped, unprimed plastic, and use a tiny brush to basecoat. Almost guarantees a crappy finish to your paint work and if it's your first attempt, complete disenchantment. Apart from that, good product.

I’d keep the brush for paint stirring, should you need to add water to resuscitate an old pot.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Yep, they are varnishing brushes.

I also have a pot of Humbrol yellow enamel for the odd occasions where I want a no-nonsense strong yellow. Enamel and the thinners you need with it kill brushes.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

An art book was one in that set. Covers I think

Also regarding non priming.

Way back that was the GW way, the first coat was a paint on primer, and these base ones work in a similar way. So it’s not too far into the realms of odd.
That’s why it says paint the whole model that colour, not just the armour.

I’m sure they’ll go into priming in a later one anyway probably.

I definitely will, as we who’ve passed the entry stage can do and have the sprays etc.

But for new hobbyists, it won’t break their models
I wouldn’t go as far as throwing the guide in the bin

Previously, if you don't have payment details on the system they will still send the issues to you on credit and you can then pay them off upon receipt via the website. I am not certain if they use the same system here.

Ended up doing that for a previous graphic novel collection after my standing order was somehow cancelled and I couldn't be bothered to go through the hassle of sorting it back out.

Once you are 2 deliveries behind they will stop sending more issues until you pay (I forgot to pay until a chaser later turned up every single time).

Issue 1 has an offer in it for issues 2+3 plus the hobby kit all for 4.99 delivered and an option is given on the form for "invoice me later" , I used it because this offer is only usable with the paper form and I wasn't going to put my card details into the postal system! With stuff like this it's the best way as once you cancel, and have proof, then if they continue to send stuff to you it's legally yours. Obviously you have to abide by the stated notice period but after that, if they carry on sending, you've got free stuff.

Can you post a pic of it - I don't seem to have that?

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Please remember the painting guides are also partworks.

For example the pages on painting intercessors says that in the next issue we will talk about painting the blue face of the sergeantt. Yes the next issue has Death Guard Green in it, the next Imperial favoured issue has Leadbelcher It is likely to be the next issue on painting intercessors that carries on that part of the guide..

The Intercessor painting guide recommends an Undercoat of Macragge Blue over the entire miniature, not just painting the armour Macragge blue. While sprays are better with Citadel basecoats over plastic is not unsound.
Later there may well be a preview page in the painting guide on spray undercoating.

Keep in mind that the partwork must split the articles themselves over several issues, so don't laugh at the painting guide yet, it may come together as a reasonable whole.

Also while paint on primer is wasteful you get three pots of Macragge blue in the full painting set, and three pots of Death Guard Green.
Besides if you watch Warhammer TV you will know that while the guides are good thery are wasteful both in terms of number of paints used and how they are used.

The Warhammer TV guides leave the tops open while painting (bad for a plethora of reasons and also use a dry palette for mixing. All in all the the prime lesson repeated is how to waste paint.

Yeah that’s what I was saying, it’s still an undercoat, just paint on. Some people still do it that way, though I don’t see why

Did you buy it in shop? This offer was on the big backing card I think, so subscription copies didn’t have it on

I did buy it in store but have since given everything but the models away and don't remember seeing the offer - must not have been very observant it if was on the backing card.

I am just interested in the Space Marine issues and that offer works out better for me as I would get the hobby kit and issue 3 for £4.99 plus a bunch of deathguard to sell on ebay.

People that have subscribed, did you get issue 2 and the hobby kit with your delivery or was it sent by itself?

Each delivery will contain four issues at once. Except the first which contains two. You get your gifts with the appropriate delivery, so if you subscribe your first delivery is issue 1, issue 2, plus glue clippers and a mould line remover.
Your next delivery four weeks later will contain issues 3, 4, 5 and 6, with no extra gift. Though issue 3 is free to subscribers.
You third delivery and other four weeks later will contain issues 7-10 and the blinder for your magazines as a gift.
If follows on monthly from there, you will complete the run in February to March 2020.

It’s as Orlanth says.

The only unsure part is if you subscribe from 2, what it will come like following 2&3.

If you get 2 & 3 together and the tools, as then the subscription wouldn’t be following everyone else’s.
so the one after will be 4, 5 & 6

And with processing time for cancelling, you’ll probably get that delivery too.

Maybe a hint of some optional buys as well? The Space Marine codex and an Imperial Knight (Renegade) are on those shelves as well.

There’s also a full size chainsword, I don’t think it’s all for us

Imagine a heavily discounted knight, subscribers only as the special issues will be.
That would be a great reward for being in the Sub

Saw this in the local newsagents. Brought all three copies on the shelf, £6 for 9 pots of paint and 3 basic brush's was too good of a deal.
I love the idea of the collection ( I'm 133 issues into a star trek model one) but primaris and cartoon nurgle models just aren't my thing. If this had been classic marine's I'd have been all over it.
Might pick up the odd issue if the local newsagent continues to stock it, when things like the land speeder / bikes appear.
Maybe if this is successful we will see AoS or LOTR collections which are more appealing.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.
