I'll have to say that the books are well worth it from a collectors point.

The art book is mostly stuff we have seen, but it fully credits each artist and year so it gets a big plus from me on that alone. With so much art cropped, grayscaled etc. It's nice to see them in full colour as is.

The silver Templar book is great. Lots of lore, background, and lots of painted models to copy if you wanted. Contains a short story. Honestly the quality and substance is there you could add a two page rules/relics like from index Astartes in awD and you'd have a solid mini Codex.

The Conquest Begins in Italy

Italian Warhammer 40,000 fans, we have great news – the first issue of the incredible Warhammer 40,000: Conquest collection is available in your country now!

This fantastic partworks magazine, released in conjunction with our partners Hachette Fascicoli, is the perfect way to start or expand a Warhammer 40,000 collection. Each issue comes with a selection of plastic Citadel miniatures, scenery, paints or brushes, as well as complete step-by-step guides to build and paint each model. You’ll also find tutorials that teach you how to play the game in easy stages and extensive background that will introduce you to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Over the course of the collection, you’ll build and paint armies of Ultramarines Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines from the Death Guard, including powerful heroes and deadly war machines. You’ll also get a battlefield’s worth of scenery – in fact, as you can see below, the entire collection is an incredible array of miniatures!

Keep an eye out for the first issue, which is in stores near you today – or you can subscribe to Warhammer 40,000: Conquest online now and get loads of free gifts over the course of your subscription, including a handy toolset, a binder for your magazines, a painting handle and much more.

Not in the UK, Spain or Italy and eager to get your hands on this incredible partworks? Keep your eyes open – we’ll have information about the series coming to other countries soon.

Probably deserves it’s own thread, but AoS version: https://www.warhammermortalrealms.com/

(What I find most surprising is the price hasn’t gone up. No sign of premium this time either)

Great! As it mentions a survey this may be a test run initially, hopefully not too long until full launch. Surprised they went with a 10 model unit (and an additional 3 model unit) for the £2.99 issue although no paints with first issue this time around and being given out much slower. I am surprised they didn’t go with Contrast.

I don’t think Premium appeared as an option during the trial as those who had already signed up during trial had to email them to upgrade to premium which is one of reasons I suspect this is a trial.

It did not.
The full release is where everything was added.
There was a survey between too, where questions like that were added..

I did wonder about Contrast, but I guess for that to be worthwhile you need a spray undercoat. Doing Wraithbone on everything by hand, then doing Contrast over that doesn’t save much time. And the focus on younger players means sprays may not be an option.

I’d wonder if this was written back when Conquest was.
So will be very similar and lots of copy paste.

We don’t know how far before Contrast, or whether they would know about it, etc..

There is also the want for sales from GW.
Contrast is their new shiny paint range, they don’t want them thrown in magazines. That’s for the mass produced to this point regulars, which are just sat about everywhere.
That’s like those who thought Contrast would get added into Conquest, just unlikely.

It is the same as when a few people say, oh maybe when sisters release, a themed box will come out, vs Orks or whoever.
I’d be so surprised if that every happened. As when something new comes (particularly a whole army line), they was to sell full price kits, not bundle the, in a deal. Same reason no SC for ages after a release..

As an aside, if you're really interested in the first issues, sign up now.

If it turns out to be a trial launch, Hachette will let you know and you'll be charged nothing. If it is like Conquest, they will also say thanks for applying and offer you the first three issues for free should you subsequently join up at the full launch.

Whoops. Wrong thread!

While I love getting cheap models, I think taking on 2 new AOS armies is beyond my reach. I'll have to turn this one down, although I am tempted to add to the pile of unopened 40k mags I have

Trial copies of issue 1 have apparently been spotted in shops in the north east of England (the usual trial area for any new products). I wouldn’t expect them to be seen anywhere else except maybe Scotland.

Yeah the survey is just for those who have gotten the trial issues.

Now available in France.

Get them while you can. The Rhino and Plagueburst Crawler issues are an absolute bargain.

Is there a France based version of Forbidden Planet that will ship to the UK?

I know most people here probably don't need to read the painting guides, but they're quite good and have a lot of decent tips for beginner and intermediate painters re highlights and such, down to which part of the brush tip to use for which area job and why. I presume they had to be purpose written given how specific they are to figures, paints and tools somebody would have at each point in the subscription.

For a newbie it would be really useful stuff, because they do gently explain the underlying visual concepts (eg "this grey is for highlighting hard black metal, this one is for soft black cloth" or "we'll be using this red crescent to give the impression of a glass lens, we'll come back later to highlight")

I just mention it because one of the ones I just received has a pretty detailed guide to using Astrogranite and washes to base as swamp, mud, or cityscape, and another explained why drybrushing would be used for one piece of terrain while manually painting touches on another. Nice touch.

What’s the source of the objectives in issue 64?

64 is Astrogranite so did you mean the objectives from 61? They are from the Urban Conquest box and a believe a change to the contents shown on the poster which were the regular objectives set.

Edit: just checked original leaks and 61 was meant to be the big servo crane which looks to have been dropped. 71 was meant to include the original objectives so will have to see what appears there.

I was tempted towards Urban Conquest by those objectives. So glad I didn't.

That's my additional orders to my sub copies gone into Forbidden Planet.

Lots of painting and building to get into when I'm home in December.

People still keeping up to speed with this?

Don't know if anyone else has been doing this, but I started a journal of sorts when I got the first issues and, well, have been continuing it for every release since!

https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/category/miniatures/warhammer-40k/conquest/

Just finished the latest batch of Mechanicus terrain (minus the Alcomite Stack, which arrived while I was painting these), and it seems the end is in sight as we thunder along to the last issue...

I get it,

keeping up with it not so much although I do have a pile of build terrain waiting to be gap filled (so annoying when they're nowhere near as good a fit as the minis)

Up until work keeping me away from home (late Aug), I was up to date on the Plague Marines and doing well on the Space Marines.

I hadn't really touched the terrain having bought most of it at original release.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing in early Dec but I believe I've also had the Heroes 3 box set arrive from Japan so there may be a small diversion.

I still have my sub to it, and also order extra issues here and there for particularly good issues. I’ve nowhere near kept up with it. I have a box full of issues I’ve not even opened yet (mostly terrain pieces, as my box of ‘to paint’ terrain pieces is still full). I can’t believe we’re now 3/4 of the way through it. I was waiting for it to come out for what feels like so long.

At one point I had everything at least base coated and I felt like I'd achieved something

I'll collect to the end, I'd be well up for another run (with different pieces obviously) when it's wrapped up, I really enjoyed this.

Mine came via a contact on the Facebook Looters group. Try via the link that still lives in Mad Doc Grotsnik's sig as I cannot access FB at present.

I assume the box is the Series 3. The Long Haired Admiral tells me the package has come from Japan and I haven't ordered anything else from there.
