Not sure if already mentioned, but apparently price for Forgebane has been confirmed at 95 pounds - same price as Dark Imperium.

that's a heavy box.
back to the thread, what does everybody think about the released stats for the Armigers? I'm kinda miffed that 3 fit in LOW slots so I guess 2 with the box and I'll have to wait for the single box release. More to the point, do do you think they'll be single model boxes or 2 per?

Instructions that got leaked from Forgebane show two assembled. The instructions in the boxes tend to be the same files as used for the normal stuff. If it were "1 built two different ways"? It would just do the instructions and then note "2x" at the start/finish. With regards to weapons, again, the leaked sprue pictures show a bit of a way to think about how this will work. The weapons and pauldrons are all on one sprue. Everything else is 3 shared sprues. It points towards weapons being separate.

Not crazy about the weapon loadout, but considering they'll be dirt cheap and GW probably has more weapon options down the road for when the knoght codex drops I'm going to get some. Worst case scenario they're fun to paint, best case scenario some sort of cooler weapons comes out down the line and I'll have the chassis for dirt cheap, then I can either convert or order some sort of 3rd party arm option. Which means that knowing gw prices I'll still save cash over buying them singly.
So even though they only have one loadout so far, mine will be magnetized and ready to go should that change. Otherwise they'll be something to good around for casual games when I need to tone my list down for a newer player or something.

thermal spear: range 30" assaultd3, s8, ap-4, d6 damage + if half range roll 2 d6 pick highest. I really like the range and assault should be pretty powerful
chain cleaver Sx2, ap-3 damage 3, I'm not sure on this if it'll be strong for melee compared to possible other options.

What about comparing price with 2 start collecting boxes of their respective army? Personnaly I think the necron from forgebane are more interesting but regarding admech, the onager has a better appeal than those two "knight"... It is a very hard decision imo... Any though ?

We don't really know if the mini knights are good, but onagers are definitely good.
Magos Dominus and Skitarii however are kind of on the weak end of what AdMech can take, even with the points reductions we got in the Codex. The only AdMech units I use are Belisarius Cawl, the Kastellan Robot, and the Onager Dunecrawler Neutron Laser, with 1 of Cawl and 3 each of the Robots and Onagers it fits nicely as 990 points of artillery. For infantry I use Imperial Guard, they are unfortunately way way better than Skitarii.
It's nice to get a bunch of Skitarii and Magos Dominus in the start collecting but they just suck competitively.

Really? At 7 ppm (as of chapter approved I believe), rangers are one of the best infantry in the game. With BS 3+, a 30" S4 gun, a 4+ sv and 6+ invuln they look very solid. Not to mention the best sniper rifle outside of Assasins. Fire Warriors were being spammed at 8 ppm and people considered that to be viable.

Yeah, in what time we live in, where Skitarii for 7ppm are bad infantry...
I don't know what people expect basic infantry to do. To burn down Rome?

The goal for basic infantry is to die and die and die and still have living bodies left over in the end.
For that purpose, I have selected instead of 20 skitarii for 140 points, I can have 35 guardsmen who can fire their lasgun twice.
EDIT: it's possible I just need to take even more rangers but in my experience they are not as effective.

Thats good. But lets not pretend 20 Skitarii for 140 points are in any shape or form, a bad choice or not competitive
But, Infantry squads are better? Ok thats true.
And, based in your edit, if you want your infantry to do work, you need redundancy. If I expect my fire warriors to survive and be able to do damage, I don't take less than 40. But I don't have options of a mathematically better choice.

I guess it's just a matter of how a person defines competitive. If I have two options, and one is better, I'll consider the better one 'competitive', and the other one 'bad' which is a bit black and white.
Skitarii might be okay or even good but I have not taken them in sufficient quantities to see results like that.

That's what I think. The starter box will have the monopose load out initially and then the later standalone will have different weapon options - DG Bloat Drone as an example.

This is a knight however. They'll probably do what they did for the big knight, putting out an extra sprue with more weapon options down the line. One sprue would get you several new options. I'd bet on a fist, a Gatling cannon, and a battlecannon, all smaller versions of their big brother weapons. If I'm wish listing, I want a plasma cannon, but that's not as likely. Maybe we'll get something cool like a volkite, grav, or some other exotic weapon too.

Unlike the big Knight however, everything associated with the Armiger's weapon loadout is on a single sprue.
The 'upper arm' is on the sprue with the body of the Armiger chassis, the legs, etc.
The shoulderplates and weapons are on a single sprue in and of themselves. Filter the thread based on my post and you can see the sprues in question; I think the OP has them as well.
Quite frankly? I'm thinking each sprue will be for a different variant/weapon loadout.

Looking at the size of the sprues, a single kit release could do a second 3 frame sprue on it, with the existing weapon and shoulder frame merged in to it. No need to assume that the one frame sprue will be replaced by an alternate one frame sprue.

Perhaps. Perhaps not.
Either way there's no certainty hence why it's a speculation.

It's not speculation. This is not a starter box. This is a campaign box. It has standard miniature kits in it, not push-fit starter minis. And it's not the first one of these they've done.

So I am thinking I am going to replace two of the Onager Dunecrawlers (that I don't own) in my Skitarii list with two of the Knight Armigers. They should do fairly nicely in their place, I think. I will be able to run a Super Heavy Detachment instead of a Super Heavy Auxillary Detachment. So more CP and probably not a huge drop in effectiveness. I am really looking forward to this boxed set.

I'm definitely buying two forgebanes, so I'll be interested to see what they do with potential variant Armigers. I'll build two and leave two on sprue and I strongly suspect some future conversion work will be in order once I know what I'm working with, if anything.

The reason I say that it's possibly/likely to be replaced is because it's not the actual shoulder mounting/upper arm that is on the 'shared' sprue. The 3 frame sprue is the body, arm & socket joint, and legs/head.
The single weapon sprue is the gun, the chainblade, and the Mechanicus symbol pauldrons.

I'm leaning the same way. I need basically two sets of everything on the Necron side, and I have two Knights, so two sets of Armigers would be good. I just don't want to have four Armigers with the same loadout, especially when that loadout doesn't really add anything that an IK doesn't already do just fine. They need an anti-horde weapon option IMO.
