It's a pseudo-Egyptian name, Necrons are space Tomb Kings (in space), so for a lot of folks, it was a bit of a groan.

Help me make sense of this... because I am really lost. Is Forgebane a good value or not?

Forgebane going price is $136 with free shipping almost anywhere atm. Listed at $160.

The arbigers seem to be in the most demand probably collecting between $40-45 a piece. so lets go low at $40 each so $80 there and say dumping the rest of the admech side at $25... puts you at $105... Anyone can buy them at $136 all day. Yet the Necrons are seeing prices around $25 each for lynch guard and immortals, $30 for wraiths and around $20 for commander. or $75 for the set shipped.

There is no shortage, and i am sure most vendors are obtaining these sets for somewhere around 50% off, unless something has drastically changed. They are not limited release, direct only or anything and have not sold out once on GW website....

Why are the prices so damn high. It seems almost anyone can buy them and resaleing them at the current rate and make a profit buying them at a 15% discount. I am really not getting this. The admech side should be listed at around $90 and the necron around $50 and you would still make a profit if you were a vendor and getting them at between $80 and $115 a pop. Is no one cashing in on this or are vendors not getting a discount which i find extremely hard to believe? OR are they predicting the bottom falling out on this soon and afraid to invest on multiple sets due to the cost being pretty high in comparison to other boxed set releases. Typically at this price point there is more models, accessories and what nots. They are maintaining peak prices yet there is no problem with availablity a fact that still is baffling me this late after the release on all ends.

Basically many people would rather pay near-GW prices than go through the trouble of buying and splitting. It’s that simple really. They’re still getting a good deal on the models for their shiny new Necron codex. So why would anyone lower their prices when they are selling through their stuff.

UK

Or a lot of private sellers are keeping both since the discount's so good,

especially since neither side is marines like a traditional starter, most folk have got marines so the old stuff from that side of box tends to be something people have already decided they want (and so have) or don't want (and so are happy to sell)

with 2 more uncommon forces it's a lot easier to say, i'll just keep them, I might start another 2 armies

Well I definately understand where you are coming from with the average person wanting to keep both sides of the box set, but what about vendors/ bits vendors, usually they jump all over these and flood the market. Only thing I can think of is if they don't get a good discount anymore? Had I have known I would have used my last ebay discount coupon and bought up a few boxes. I never expected the resale or splitting of these sets to be so limited with the fact they are readily available.

And you have a new Knights codex...with a new Necron codex...so there is no lack of willing buyers at "slight" discount vs. "bargain basement" discount.

So given that, why has no vendor bought them up in bulk and split them to sell. Usually you are tripping over vendors and individuals who are doing this. Is it due to the base price being so high? or lack of discount to vendors? Not really understanding the slight discount either as pretty much the most people may want is two sets of either admech or necrons. Lynchguard maybe 2 sets, immortals are in high demand but you only get one set, and wraiths two sets is about the max a person would need. so on the necron side maybe two sets.

On the admech side, granted you can go with vanguard which most people have a ton of from the SC sets including the HQ and with the armingers looks like you can field 3 for a LOW spot, not sure about the Imperial Knights dex maybe you can do more with them there. So again two boxes, being the magic number.

So given that most people would need 2x of one side or the other and vendors would wanna make money on both sides what is happening to all these models? Or is it really just not that great of a selling item like Dark Imperium was? By this time with Dark Imperium I had the game for myself and two additional sets of death guard side at good prices with no shortage for trying to find units/ split boxes or anything else from the box set.

Its really quite simple. If no one is giving steep discounts, theres no incentive to do so. Youre still going to sell it at a moderate discount, so why cut into your margins just to shift more product? Theres no reason to do it, really. The more expensive it is, the more money you get out of it. And since both the armigers and necrons are cool and new (well, the rules for the necrons are, anyway), they can sell that stock even at reasonably high prices, since demand is high. If you want bargains, you should look at the skitarii and, especially, the Magos Dominus. That one is surplus to requirements for most people, so I wouldnt be surprised if you could find one at a ridiculous discount.

Everything else though, just sell it at a discount that makes it attractive enough compared to other sources and there you go.

I was thinking about getting a couple boxes, ended up getting 0 because the rules for Armigers as they are means they are trash, and when the new Knight book drops there will undoubtedly be a separate kit that comes with the complete set or bits.

That, and I didnt really need a bunch of Necrons and Skitarii to add to the shame pile.
