In the USA they bring a bunch of stuff to sell including stuff you normally can't get like KS exclusives etc

but not sure what they'll have here in the UK, my suspicion is they'll have stuff but only what is in the normal distribution chain (or is going to end up there in the next few months)

Miniature Market put up a pre-order for a AOIaF Baratheon starter set, and Baratheon Stag knights.

Wonder what will be in the starter. Kind of excited.

I hope CMON does a sequel Kickstarter to Massive Darkness, I really like that game. It seems like many of their series went sci-fi in the last year, but hopefully we can get a legit continuation of that one. The Zombicide additional content for it has been nice though. If world of smog, and rum & bones can get sequels, that seems only fair to give MD one. Perhaps put rules for the characters & creatures in Trudvang to be used with MD & Zombicide?

Just checking back Baratheons were announced at GAMA forgot about that so we'll probably see the minis on Friday.

It took a long time to finally release those Black Guard and the Stone Thrower they were previewed well over a year ago.

and here's the artwork for the Builder Crossbowmen as It hasn't been posted yet

> I don't know how or why board gamers buying up new board games should, or would affect the sales of a miniatures game.

Both FFG and CMON dropped their miniature lines because boardgames made them more money for less support (support being resources spent by the company to support the game for expansions, tournament support, etc.). It's a matter of prioritizing their resources for what types of products they can release. That's why FFG has a reputation of putting out a miniatures line, such as Runewars and Battelore, then dropping it after a few years. CMON is doing the same for Wrath of Kings and Dark Ages (?). CMON should license the games to a company that will support them.

> I hope CMON does a sequel Kickstarter to Massive Darkness,

Sadly, the boardgame community asked for campaign rules for MD, CMON listened, and the rules bombed. I'm not seeing any more CMON KS games designed by Guillotine Games, who designed Zombicide and Massive Darkness. CMON seems to be riding Eric Lang's name hard, with Eric being the lead game designer or something. Michael Shinall's name keeps coming up in CMON game designs. Or maybe CMON's just shifted from external to internal house game designers, and MD may be collateral damage. MD *is* a very good product for CMON, since it, like Zombicide, has a hefty number of miniatures that are non-unique, so you can get more miniatures per mold, I guess. Michael : https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/75733/michael-shinall

This is just speculation, but I'm guessing that MD was supposed to be the franchise that took over Zombicide and Arcadia Quest, both of which are suffering expansion fatigue. Song of Ice and Fire may be that franchise, but I dunno if what's being released to retail is there because CMON wants to show they're supporting retailers and these products were already planned years ago, or if this is stuff they're selling because Song of Ice and Fire is honest-to-gosh making CMON money. At least they have Eric's name they can keep using, although I dunno for how much longer.

According to BGG they did Hate, Cthulhu Death may die (still in production) and Zombice Invader (which should deliver in a month-ish) so CMON is still working with them plus there's the Bloodrage video game KSer that has some new minis and so I'm sure Guillotine is involved with that like they were the core game. Probably just do one-two games a year per design studio/partner. CMoN so far this year has teamed with Steve Jackson Games and Riot Games so they're clearly not shifted to be 100% in house.

FFG started as and has always been, a board game and RPG publisher. Just because they made several forays into miniatures gaming and failed, does not mean board gamers are to blame.
This is a marketing problem, and it's also why FFG has dropped almost all but licensed IP.
Because a board game publisher didn't make money on their one try at a minis game, does not mean that board gamers are to blame.
It's been marketed wrong, because FFG is a one-trick-pony.

The same can be said for CMON. They really only started on KS with board games, and purchased several IPs to try their hand at miniatures games. It's obvious that they know how to market a board game.

The same cannot be said for minis games. They take a lot more capital and resources to maintain. Board games do not require constant releases, tournaments, a large and healthy community LGS support and more. And that all costs money, which sales must support.

If a line of products lose money, don't blame anything but the way it was marketed. Seriously, why are you blaming other gamers for a lack of support from a company? Because those gamers are cheaper and easier to market to?

Fact is, stuff goes away when it doesn't sell or make money. Instead of pointing fingers of blame, maybe that energy could be better expended into converting those you blame into opponents?

I doubt a bombing of campaign rules would tank the whole MD franchise. I'm a fan and backer, and whereas they weren't amazing, I didn't hate them. But then again, I wasn't all that into a campaign for it.

As it stands MD is the #5 top grossing KS campaign for CMON, and their #4 top grossing franchise. It's made more money in one campaign then all the of Arcadia Quest games combined (FYI - I'm not counting Starcadia quest, since the rules aren't compatible with the older games/expansions). The two top grossing Zombicides both had a connection to MD, and CMON's top grossing campaign (green horde), had lots of elements to play between the two settings. Zombiecide: Invader, and Starcadia quest were not as popular as the fantasy versions of the game, so I'm hoping CMON will come back to those for both series. Unless they plan to add to those 'sci-fi' versions, i think a lot of fans would rather have more stuff for their fantasy campaigns. If there's any 'fatigue' with those franchises, I'd guess it stems from that, more than having too much stuff. MD fit a nice balance of being fantasy Zombiecide, with no zombies (though you had rules to use the zombiecide BP & GH ones, if you really wanted them. They delved into more classic RPG tropes, and featured lots of cool new stuff (like the Helliphant) and added some 'non-undead' elements to the Zombiecide series (though mostly just MD characters for them).

I'm just sayin, that similar to Rum & Bones, World of Smog, all the zombiecides, and arcadia quests, MD deserves at least one more campaign.

The game is a living world game where as you move around and complete objectives things are changed like a city may be raised so it's gone the rest of the game. But unlike a legacy game your actions may not be remembered by history which would cause somethings to reverse (what the trigger is I don't know) so it would be difficult to always play the same game twice.

Plus Paul Bonner inspired minis which is another big plus for me.

You can have your skeletons, I'll take expertly sculpted dad paunches jutting out of ill- fitting clothes.

I like painting fat guys. They tend to have more base presence and take up more space.

That armored dwarf is interesting too.

Aww man, time to start saving. What faction are those Thenn Warriors?

I've been painting up the Night's Watch and the miniatures just continually surprise and delight me with their quality and aesthetic. They are great great miniatures.

I haven't even read the books, watched the show or played the game! I will play the game here before too long, but I'm going to keep on buying the miniatures

Thenn Warriors are Wildings/Free Folk (not sure what their name is in the game).

hmmm... I had pictured "Stag Knights" as a cavalry unit. Oh, well, they are still on the list. As is the Baratheon Starter. The Thenns look cool too. Are they Free Folk?

I have been buying cheap lannister units on EBAY.

I have all the Core set heroes, 3 boxes of Halberds, 3 boxes of Guards, 1 crossbow, 1 Mountains men and the Lannister heroes 2 box on its way.

I have the Free folk starter and the Tully shields. I haven't played, my friends don't play, but I love the minis...

The minis are great. They really hit the sweetspot between fantasy and historical for me. The armor and weapons are mostly believable if not down right historical, and being a larger scale makes them very easy to paint. Plus nothing looks like a Saturday morning super hero cartoon (unlike AOS).

All pluses in my book.

The game really is terrific and I managed to help foster a local player-base of about eight people, which makes it REALLY easy to keep buying in further. It helps that its my wife's favorite tabletop game ever, meaning we inevitably buy every release once or twice over.

I'm bummed that CMoN Expo showings have all been known/rumored for months. I was hoping the reveals would be a look to stuff much further out than August. :-p
