It's not about that.
3rd through 7th were all the same basic rules base, just updated over and over again. 8th Ed is a completely new rules base. The release of 8th Ed rendered everything before it incompatible. The priority for GW was getting the new codices out as soon as possible so that people had proper rules to play with and so they wouldn't have to live with the stop-gap tide-you-over indices forever.
This is why we've seen so many codices released in such a short space of time. Remember that 8th Ed just reached its first anniversary. In that time we've had:
Codex: Space Marines** Codex: Blood Angels Codex: Dark Angels Codex: Grey Knights Codex: Deathwatch Codex: Tau Empire Codex: Imperial Guard Codex: Imperial Knights** Codex: Necrons Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus Codex: Chaos Daemons Codex: Adeptus Custodes* Codex: Craftworld Eldar Codex: Harlequins Codex: Drew Carey Codex: Tyranids Codex: Chaos Space Marines Codex: Death Guard* Codex: Thousand Sons**
That's 19 books in 12 months. Plus everything Age of Sigmarines has received (including, now, it's own 2nd Edition), plus the relaunch of Necromunda, Shadespire, and a bunch of other things.
Did you ever think that each of these books would see a major miniature release? Did you think GW had the capacity for such a thing?
*Major release. **Large release on top of an existing miniature line.

By that logic, GW should never make new models for anything other than Space Mari-

Are there units in those codices for which there are no models currently being sold? I ask because I legitimately don't know, and assume that's part of the reason they released a new kit for aberrants. The Primus, well, maybe to add a bit more flavor to the army. Tie-ins to other games like Kill Team may also make sense. Perhaps they have it "figured out" and it's more profitable to sell new models than to replace previously existing kits in their line?

We recently had Yvraine and the 2 others in the box set. Eldar are pretty well fleshed out atm and you can make sizable varied armies, with only Harlequins being on the low 'unit' count. GSC arent necessarily more popular, that doesnt really determine the choice to make new models for them. Aberrants have only been available through DW:OK until now. There is always this, ' I can't believe someone else's army got more stuff and mine didn't' thing going around. What makes it bewildering to you?
I'm not going to re-read the lunacy that is the last few pages of this thread, but I'd be very surprised if anyone actually said that. Even that one guy banging on about how relatively difficult it might be for an Inquisitor to acquire power armour, I don't think even that guy said that.

Which is a damned shame, because it means we still have thingslikethese kicking around long after they should have been replaced by new plastic kits.

Popularity likely isn't the issue. The issue likely is that GSC is considered a less fleshed out faction so far.

Harlequins really could have used a character on a skyweaver or some other vehicle unit. Eldar really need new Aspect warriors....badly. Dark Eldar also need more HQ choices, especially with the patrol special rules they have.

Again, it's got nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with getting as many books out as quickly as possible.
Back left of that pic looks like a very tall neophyte....??
I have to agree with previous comments that being a harlequins and genestealer cult player, both armies could do with fleshing out a little... can't complain thpugh the harlequin codex is awesome, very true to fluff.

No (although they just might be as there has been a lot of positive response to the line, and they were reasonably competive especially with the first interpretation of the Cult Ambush rule)
but most likely is that they just don't have that many kits and by releasing an aberrant unit they can discontinue Deathwatch Overkill which is a very cheap source of GSC stuff

so, why not a GC book with no models? The comment just doesn't make a lot of sense.

A lot of armies could have used a lot of things.

Because they got the Triumvirate of Ynnead, plastic Eldrad, the whole Harlequin line, and now the Webway Gate within the same timeframe as it's taken the GSC to get a popular kit(Aberrants) to see general release outside of a board game.
Look, I get it. You want some love for the Eldar. I wanted a Skitarii HQ and some rejigged Guard Veterans. I didn't get either of those things.
We know Ynnari are slated to get a Codex at some point. They've mentioned this multiple times. It's more likely than not that whenever Ynnari get their book, it will have multifaction kits in there.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

As in, it looks like it has been for a while - I can't find a copy of it on any of my usual sites and it says no longer available online on GW. I dunno how long it's been like that though.
Drukari (Dark Eldar). Been a running joke since they changed the name.
Thank you. I never seen it replied to as that.

Have you ever considered the real reason is that Aberrants are currently only available in the DW:O box? It's a unit that needs a separate release because there's no current way to reasonably get them, unlike every unit in the Aeldari line. What makes it harder is that parts for Aberrants were spread out over multiple sprues with other units in the box set so they've had to design new spures for them and it seems they've thrown in a new sculpt or two as well, which is probably better than buying them in 4's.

Not so much more popular, as that they have a tiny model line.
No special characters, Abberants only available in Deathwatch Overkill. A lot of their units are just repainted Guard.
Iirc they have the following
4 HQ- patriarch, magus, primus, iconward
2 troops - neophytes and acolytes
3 elite - pure strain stealers, abberants, metamorphs
1 fast attack - sentinels
2 transports - chimera and Goliath truck
2 heavy support - Goliath rockgrinders and leman Russ
0 flyers
0 superheavy
0 fortifications
Pretty thin model line there, so yes a few more models are in order.
Eldar have a much larger model line, though I won’t argue that they could use updated models for a good chunk of their range.

it has been a while, about a year I think.
Random tidbit of info, warhammer world had a couple of copies on the shelf when I was there last week
No. They already had other teasers for Genestealer Cult on Warhammer Community and the Codex is also set to drop soon.
Everything points to Genestealer Cult being the next sizable 40K release after, likely, mostly miniature-less (bar an Upgrade sprue or so) Space Wolves/Orks mixed into the coming weeks of Age of Sigmar stuff.
With the exception of stuff that leaks unintentionally, GW have a 3-month preview window rule for showing new content. The June update specifically only mentioned GSC models and not the codex. That makes me think that:
Orks/Wolves will receive more substantial updates by early Sept.
These GSC models will be tied to the Killteam releases coming very soon.
The GSC codex will be much later in the year, possibly after the rumoured Chaos / Slaanesh releases.
That all ties with the rumours we saw at the start of the year, which gave been largely accurate so far.
I think exactly the same.
If this is true and they are coming out with small unit box sets like Shadow spire plus keeping rules similar to SWA.. I am going to have to get a better job because I will go broke if all the model sets look something like this...
I was up at WHW for the AOS open day yesterday and i thought i would do a bit of snooping in the exhibition area, i found they have since rearranged the cabinet and have added some more of the Aberrants which i count 5 of not including the one with a familiar already seen, so including the gunslinger there are 7 new GSC minis on the way
Ive added "New" next to them and the 1st 3 pics are of the new minis and the other pics are from different angles, plus a few of the older minis just for
