It's a good start! Can definitely get some dynamism into that second concept with the way the hair flows!

Thanks. I've taken the Escher coat off the first one and I'm going to try her out with the same head as the second, only with the hair flowing the other way. At some point, hopefully today, I'm going to give making some robes for them a shot. I've never used GS before except for minor gap-filling so the idea is pretty intimidating.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't; you're right, though, and posting about it here means I have to do it, so... I think I need to start by using wire to build phoney knees for them. I'm going to be copying the FW Possessed Psyker's robes pretty heavily. You know the one.

I've also discovered that the bald Daemonette head fits pretty nicely into the empty Cadian helmets so that plus some gunner arms from the HWT kit for ML No. 3 should portray the moment of a PotW Possession pretty well, I reckon. I don't think a PDF would have Psykers, so these are just regular soldats who had latent talents. Also, MLs don't have any weaponry but their hands hence the lack of staffs, staves or pistols.

But firstly - and most importantly - I have three weeks of the big, berry-brown face of Saint Gary of Lineker to catch up on and two weeks of whatever b-team they dragged into the studio for MotD2.

It took the U.S.P.S. two days to get The Motherland Calls! from California to Hamilton, ON, which is about an hour's drive from where I live.

In the six days since, Canada Post has sent it to Toronto, then back to Hamilton, then to London, ON. It arrived back in Hamilton this morning.

Thus there is a city in Ontario called London and through it runs the River Thames. Over the Thames is Blackfriar's Bridge. They even called their market Covent Garden.

I've lived in the U.K., France, Spain and Canada and at one point had a business shipping stuff through the U.S. regularly.

Of all the different postal and shipping companies I've ever had to use, Canada Post is by far the slowest and takes the least care of your items.

I'm on the phone with them now, I have to be in court in Hamilton tomorrow so I'm going to try and pick it up rather than wait through another week of this.

Starts to sound like the finnish postal service. They have lost my mail a few times already during the 6 months I've been living in the new adress.

As it turns out, Canada Post are currently holding rotating strikes and have been for a while so they have a massive backlog. I got three weeks worth of The Economist (know your enemy) delivered this morning. So I have no idea when The Motherland Calls! will arrive, which sucks, but even though I am on track to become a bourgeoisie lawyer I support my brother, sister and non-binary workers and that's much more important.

Also, FWIW, The Violet Heart has been thoroughly scrubbed, rebuilt and reprimed. She's sat on my table with two Chariots expectantly, but honestly I've sat down to paint these three four times now and have made no progress at all. The Violet Heart has been painted once already and fell apart; my Herald on Chariot doesn't have Codex rules and the Hellflayer is no. 5 in my army so the rule of three kills a lot of interest I had in painting that.

Just no motivation to see these three out, no other minis to paint and no statuary in sight.

Grim.

Probably going to shutter this for a month or so rather than spam a plog with the whinings of an entitled white man.

There's some clean-up work to do, but nothing major, and once that's done (and I find the bottle of Nihilikakakakakakak wash that I bought) she'll be painted and pinned to the pink foam stepped-pyramid plinth I'm making.

Understandable, sounds like a nice bit of terrain planed out, meanwhile i finished my last paratroopers, say i still need something like a malcador mainly because it is a great looking model.

Nifty, that is still quite the impressive and giant sized statue.

Right? She's 12" to the tip of her sword currently. By the time she's based, her sword's tip will tower 15.5" above the tabletop.

Which is what I was going for because, again, The Motherland Calls! is massive.

Once my initial... 'tumescence' had dissipated and Sasha Aleksandrovna had gone on her twice daily pee-parade around the neighbourhood, I took some better pics ('better' in the context that I only have a cellphone, it gets dark here long before I get home now and I don't have a lightbox) which I've polished a bit with some free editing software that bundles with Windows 10 and is, so far, the best thing I've discovered about Windows 10. I gushed pretty heavily about 3DPrintedDebris before, so let's have a closer look at her, shall we?

I should note here that I have no experience with 3D printing or 3D printed items, but as mentioned above I'm an entitled white man so like a Ryan Seacrest-type I'm going to forge ahead anyway and assume I'm doing fine.

I was also a little premature earlier in saying that only minor tidy-up work was needed. Her left sleeve is a separate bit and had fallen to the bottom of the box, amongst the packing materials



Is this something you just have to deal with when working with 3D prints or is it shoddy work that should be sent back? The plastic is very thin in between those holes.

Overall then, I'm pretty happy. There's a lot of rough plastic in a lot of rough areas, as you can probably tell, but nothing that causes too much concern except for the holes in her left sleeve. She wasn't overly expensive and 3DPrintedDebris did everything they could to get her here ASAP, so I'm sticking by my original recommendation. For whatever that is worth.

EDIT - Uploaded a new set of photos. The first ones were taken under a regular ceiling light with a single bulb and an anglepoise lamp and they were ridiculously overexposed. Even after knocking down the Brightness by the max., they were still far too bright. I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd try it just under the ceiling light, which I would have presumed to be far too dark. I still had to knock the Brightness way down and the Contrast way up and the pictures remain a bit poo.

Apparently my phone overexposes EVERYTHING and I cannot find any way of changing this in the camera settings on the phone.

FWIW, minigiant found that version of The Motherland Calls! for me and he/she will be immortalized on her plinth with a "minigiant woz 'ere" graffiti.

There'll be a lot of graffiti on my terrain, mostly so that I can do a version of the Tsoi Wall in Moscow, in spaaaaaaace.

I'd like to but I don't see how I could. I can't sculpt and don't know of any suitable miniatures, though in fairness I also haven't looked too hard and my search-fu sucks. Quod erat demonstrandum by minigiant.

There's also the fact that as much as I want to ape Stalingrad ca. 1943, this has to be a playable, modular, board used by lots of minis with larger than normal bases, so putting a lot of stuff on it would defeat that point.
