Hello all,

I'm participating in a map campaign where we have to lock in 1000 point lists for the rest of the campaign. If we play larger games, we'd use the 1000 point base PLUS whatever extra we wanted to add. The core 1000 essentially needs to be a take all comers list that can handle a variety of missions including maelstrom and whatever other matched play missions exist in the core rules.

My current thought is to take a Mephrit Battalion with VoD Overlord, Chronotek, 3x units of Immortals, 3-4 Destroyers and fill in the gaps with Scarabs. VoD Overlord would be able to teleport a unit of 10x Immortals somewhere to kill something that needs killing or to grab a late game objective. Destroyers and Scarabs are mobile. Scarabs provide deep strike blocking. Immortals immortal, as they are wont to do. 1000 feels pretty limiting.

We can add models to existing units when we grow the army, but we can't modify wargear or remove models from units.

Any thoughts? I'd be curious to hear what everyone has to say.

Annihilation Barges have an insane amount of shooting, and a big gun for tanks. Take one of those, some basic warriors in squads of 20, and whatever leader buffs you can get.

Big Warrior squads are pretty bad, ABs are horrible for their pts, better off getting more/keeping your Immortals. Get a full unit of 6 Destroyers, otherwise your idea seems pretty good. A Vault with an Outrider Detachment would probably be the most competetive choice. An army consisting entirely of Destroyers and Tomb Blades will also do very well. Depending on terrain and meta DDAs are amazing, 2 of those combined with a unit of 6 Destroyers will outshoot most lists.

The problem with your list is that it won't overwhelm any part of your opponent's offence, you have good lascannon targets, good lasgun targets, good heavy bolter targets. Your only anti-vehicle unit is your Destroyers, if they get shot down you're relying on tying up vehicles in combat, I'd get a void scythe for my OLord if I was you for this reason. You'll most likely have a very good time against Orks, that might be important with the new codex. Good luck.

A nasty list would be a nephrekh outrider cronotek with veil and 18 destroyers. T5 W3 models arent easy to kill, they have 5++, and they regenerate on 4+ with the cronotek. Put one unit of 6 destroyers in deepstrike, and use the veil to go somewhere with 12 destroyers in T2.

At 1k, 20 warriors are great, because there is very little chance that there will be enough firepower to wipe them in a single turn. Add a cryptek and you're looking at a solid fire base. With vod and a blob of immortals, you could consider a ghost ark for the warriors. This will allow you to make sure they stay ten strong and move them to objectives quickly. It also gives you a load more shooting.

Anti tank is a bit tougher. DDA are great but the random shots mean you can easily fluff your rolls which is why they are normally taken in threes. If you can get lots of command points then the rerolls will be priceless with just one at 1k. But it's also an obvious target for your opponent.

Going with trying to get lots of command points - take a good group of scarabs, then you can blow them up for MW to take out anything you have problems with.

Barges just plain suck. Way too many points.

Wraiths are a good option, because, like a blob of warriors, at 1k they are tough to deal with.

Destroyers with a cloaktek kind of feel like a must. They can take on anything and move about pretty quickly. They are very average for anti tank, but might be enough at 1k. Heavy destroyers aren't worth it for most targets, but might have a niche here.

I had an 1000pts Tournament a couple month ago in which I decided to give my Necron a go. YMMV, since the event I join banned LoW of anykind, so no IK, no Guilliman, no Magnus / Morty tag team, and no Shadowsword. My list performed quite well in thus environment, it is listed as following for your reference:

Sautekh Battalion:

HQ:
Overlord w Void Reaper
Cryptekh w 5++ and VoD

Troops:
15 Warriors
10 Immortals w Tesla
9 Immortal w Tesla

Fast Attack:
6 Destroyers (1 being Heavy Destroyer)

Hope it may help.
