Grots are love. Grots are life.

I'm tempted to say with GW's focus on new things and tie-ins into the ongoing storyline the best one can hope for Craftworld Eldar is what's they've been doing so far - a couple of kits with a new codex and that's it. We have snake elves and fish elves now while the classics like High Elves and Dark Elves and the non-wood part of Wood Elves languish. I think we'll see the same in 40k. Slaanesh is coming and while the big comeback is more of a AoS thing, it'll find its way into 40k as well simply because there will be new kits. Ynnari have already been established as the antagonist to Slaanesh, and I suspect GW will put out a lot of kits to make it its own faction instead of having to draw from the current Eldar lines with only a character making it actual Ynnari.
This is why I'm a little bit wary of new Eldar. As much as I'd love to see new Aspect Warriors that fit in with the established Craftworlds aesthetic (so pretty much the 'look' of the current ones, but in plastic with more options and more varied/dynamic poses), I've got a bit of a "be careful what you wish for" thing going on. I can see the line getting overhauled Ynnari style, and if the triumvirate is an indicator then I don't really like Ynnari style. So I hope for proper new Aspects, and if GW go in another direction, well at least I've got a mountain of metal ones to keep me going. It just means that when I want more I've got to trawl ebay rather than buying new. I've got a bit more hopeful recently though, given that the new Chaos marines do seem to be an update of the existing ones rather than something entirely new (Primaris Chaos, or anything like that), and the Wake the Dead spiritseer is very much a Craftworlds model. It's not much to go on, but it's something that indicates that they are still willing to update old lines. What we've seen of the new SoB look like classic sisters too, updated to the new plastic tech. We shall see, but I suspect that they are starting to realise that there is perhaps a bigger market for updates of old lines than they thought there was, rather than just doing entirely new stuff.
While we're waiting I'll buy a copy or two of this Battleforce...

If that were to come to pass, I'd still hope to see any new Ynnari kits be dual-kits that could make the aspect warriors for Crftworld and something new and fancy. That would be.. what? five kits? (as we already have DA) That should theoretically be doable. Shining Spears and other add-on aspects could come along later. Or not at all if we finally got some new kits.
That would be great. It seems GW is mostly set against cross-faction boxes, though. Not sure why, but it certainly put Chaos in a pretty dire position in the past when all they had to do was add a Chaos upgrade sprue to a good number of Imperial things. Would be great if GW changed there approach, even if I'm not hopeful that anything like that will happen.

Ummm...Grots are basically mandatory now, mek gun boxes are good. SAG is bit non-spammable(though deathskulls could make that work). Only bad thing about that is killa kanz but if discount would be enough kans were basically free that would be must-buy for new ork armies.
Also you realize you listed 114€ worth of stuff for 65€ start collectin box? I think ork players would be happy to take the bad killa kans with it seeing you would even without them get 78€ worth of stuff for 65€. And those 78€ are all good options...
Yeah cry all you wish. Orks meanwhile would be buying those boxes.

Yeah, I may be a little jaded from my Warhammer Fantasy experience where the core troops were age old trash and instead of releasing new models for the most important unit in the army, they went and released big monsters. And of course they topped it off with my beloved Tomb Kings. Instead of fixing the ancient bobblehead skeletons, they made new elite skeletons with bobbleheads to fit with models that shouldn't even exist anymore...
I've long been critical of GW's approach. I'm not really opposed to the designers saying a line is finished and they want to do something new, but at least it should be updated to roughly the same standard before they leave it on the wayside. Necrons are a bit in this position. Most of the range is in plastic and looks internally consistent. If I never get a new Necron model, I still have a complete range to work with. Except Fayled Ones, but as always that's just my luck. But Eldar and Chaos Marines, for instance, vary in quality so much that I don't know why anyone would bother with at least a portion of the ranges at all. That's just not good for the entire range.

Based on the Australian prices it's only $10AUD more savings than the current (out of stock) SC! box.
Are Grots really that good now? I was under the impression from people around here that Boyz are still better overall despite the points increase.

Think your math is off. Went to australian size. SAG(41)+killa kan(67)+mekgun(74)+grots(28)=210. Start collecting 140. Okay if you remove killa kans saving is not that big but hey it's basically free killa kans+slight discount for rest. Sell killa kans if you don't want to keep them(remember eventually GW will buff them to be new hottness). Anyway that's then australians who are getting(as usual) screwed. I already showed how good deal it is in euros and I wouldn't be surprised if UK is even better(and that's the main market for them)
And yes grots are already good. They were good before and now...Well orks are now super CP hungry. I had yesterday 13 CP and was down to 1 after 1st turn(6 CP for 3 teleports, 2 for prepared positions(this was mistake), 2 for more dakka, 1 for command reroll. 1 for bellowing clouds). Albeit could have saved 2. Grots allow cheapish 2-3 battallions( HQ's are killers). They are also good for grot screen to protect lootas/tankbustas/mega nobs. And they are lot better than more than twice as expensive boys as objective campers. Boyz meanwhile are relegated to charge out of deep strike role.
Good luck filling 6/9 troop slots with 7 pts boyz. If they are ones that make punch then combined with HQ's not much room for rest. and 10 strong ones aren't that hot. Except maybe with deathskulls and rokkit but that sorts 1 detachment. Whatabout evil suns for deep striking deffdreads or bad moons for tank bustas/lootas?

I mean the value of the ork SC, not $10 over the actual price of the boxset. Painboy + Nobz + Boyz + Dread = $200AUD Seems I was wrong about the hypothetical unit selection being bad though. I don't play Orks and was just going off what locals were saying (Kanz are bad, Grotz are ok but worse than Boyz, multiple SAGs aren't good if you aren't Deathskullz)

Ah I was calculating how good value the SAG box would be. Not comparing that to existing SC.
Would be interesting to know how they plan to fund 6/9 troop slots without grots! The orks have so many effective strategems problem is funding down them all. Loota can easily use 4-5 per turn for example. Tellyporta...Fight again. Green tide if you get chance. Grot screen...2 battallions or brigade seems like mandatory. And then 1 clan isn't good for everything so you often want second detachment as well if not 3.

Some of them do still plan on using Grots, but no more than 30 of them in a Weirdboy Battalion.

My money is on an Ork Start Collecting kit consisting of:
Grukk, Boyz, Trukk and Warbikes. The SAG seems too niche to me. Still could be the case though, there aren't many Plastic HQs to choose from.
I'm slightly concerned that GW might be toning down the savings on some of the bundles/games. Speed Freeks wasn't quite what I was expecting and that munitions hub is quite a small saving considering the large price tag.
Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

Speed freaks was 2 $45 buggies, 2 $41.25 biker kits, and half of a $40 terrain set, plus cardboard and dice. About $192.50 for $150. Not terrible savings.
Munitorum hub is 3 and 1/3 $50 sets of containers and 2 $40 cranes, so about $234 for 210. Not a huge percentage, but the real problem is that they came out with killzone munitorum with 2 sets of crates and a crane at $140 for $80, a far better savings. 2 killzones gets you 2 extra crates over the hub and for $50 cheaper.

Yeah...I would like a few of them. I know the Wraithknight isn't all that, but I don't have the model and the rest of the units in it are useful even if I probably have enough Guardians. I also probably have enough DoK in terms of what I'd ever get assembled and painted, but can you ever have enough witch elves? So I fear those two could be likely acquisitions.
And between Forgebane and Kill Team I appear to have a decent chunk of Skitarii lying around. Would the AdMech box in combination make for a reasonable AdMech force?

I'm a little disappointed with the azyrite township. I was hoping the second floor wall pieces would be separate so you could have more of the intact archways there to provide cover for models on the second floor, but the walls are one piece with both storeys.
Also not very modular. There's only two ways for it to go together. And since the two big floor pieces are both corner pieces, there's really no way to get a long section of second floor to put a decent number of models on.

Not enough of a saving on the Munitions Hub in my view.
The Killzone Munitorum box and Kill Team Boxed set (with Genestealer Cults and Skitarii Rangers) have been out of stock in the UK for quite some time now. I might have missed the boat on good value terrain bundles.

You'd have 30 skitarii, a Dominus, an enginseer, some infiltrators, a couple of Kastellan, an Onager, and two Armigers. You'd have about 1000pts and a decent enough batallion for friendly games. Not crazy competitive but it'll be good enough. Buy a big knight to back up the Armigers and that gets you well on your way to a full size army. From there you'd probably want more Kastellan, Cawl (if you want to go Mars) sydonian Dragoons, or Onagers depending on where you want to go. Another enginseer wouldnt hurt for a cheap second HQ either. The start collecting boxes are also a good value cashwise but you'll find like all other admech players you quickly end up with more dominuses than you know what to do with.

The starter, plus forgebane and kill team core would give you a domino's and enginseer, and 3 squads of skitarii, so enough for a battalion. Dunecrawlers and robots are pretty solid, and the 2 armigers could either be a unit as a superheavy aux detachment, or add a full size knight to get a superheavy detachment and the cp from it. The main problem with the bundle is that it really overlaps the getting started box, with the on ager and troops duplicated.

Adding a little snippet of info my local Redshirt told me today there is at least 1 maybe 2 exclusive models that may show up before Xmas (he said prolly for the 26th since they have some kind of huge season event in store) but he's still on the dark about the true nature of those.
His personal bet and hope it's the already previewed Sister miniature.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. The tankbustas, kommandos and Warboss Grukk's Boss Mob (a nobs box + warboss) all have 32 mm bases. Or at least the text says they do on the US site. The pictures are still the old ones on 25mm bases.

I really hope the rumor I saw about older christmas boxes coming back is true. Especially if there's any chance of the deathwatch box being one of them.
Supposedly the space wolves one was mentioned in the rumor though that was just something I heard from a friend so I trust it about as much as I trust door to door salespeople.

His personal bet and hope it's the already previewed Sister miniature.

Ordered a Sector Imperialis from Meeplemart. I was tempted by the plasma conduit set to fill out my mechanicus terrain, but I have Mantic pipes galore already.
