Listened to both the Primarchs and the Eight Lamentations War-Claw audio dramas. Primarchs was a bit mixed with the Iron Warriors story feeling the weakest. The Night Lords story was pretty good, except for the odd choice of giving the characters all these weird "Count Dracula" accents. Eight Lamentations was fun, a good choice in voice cast, especially for Volker and Zana, who have a nice bit of banter going on.

Having recently gone digital, I've smashed through the various Gaunt's Ghosts collections with only Salvations' Reach from the Victory omnibus to finish. After that I'll be giving Warmaster a second read ready for The Anarch to be released.
Additionally I'm catching up on the Humble Bundle audios and Unremembered Empire on audio whilst commuting or painting.
As an aside, depending on your point of view regarding the pros and cons of Amazon, I have discovered that the £7.99 per month Audible membership gives you one Credit which can be used for Black Library items like Realmslayer. Hopefully this also means it can be used for some of the upcoming BL products such as the Greyfax/ Celestine audio drama.
£7.99 has to be better than £29.99 from BL!

Speaking of Black Library reading...I picked up the Archaon "Everchosen" novel, and part two is supposed to be "Lord of Chaos"; but I can't find it in paperback at all, only ePub. Has it ever been released in paperback, or am I still waiting?

I just finished Malodrax from the Space Marine Battles series. I can honestly say it was one of the worst Black Library books I’ve ever read. It seems like Ben Counter likes to get carried away with all the daemon stuff in his books, and while it may make sense when he’s thinking about it, it really isn’t conveyed well on paper. There were several points where I had to re-read bits to try and make sense of them, and even then there was a couple of parts I gave up on. I felt a bit like that with Daemon world, but that had a much more interesting hook than Malodrax.
I’ve now started Lords of Silence. I’ve been interested to see Plague Marines as a lead, and how they live with their ‘gifts’.

I’ve just finished Lords of Silence. It was ok, not the best book i’ve read, but by no means a slog to get through. Not sure what to start on next. Possibly finish the Night Lords trilogy, or read the 9th Ciaphas Cain book.

I finished Black Legion last week. It was (IMO) even better than Talon of Horus (which I loved).
Started Plague Wars last Friday and have about 100 pages to go. Really liking it for the most part, and it's a fitting sequal to Dark Imperium. I wish the Space Marine Battle Books were written this well!

I'm midway through the Rogue Trader omnibus. Really interesting stuff.
I also only just recently learned that the antagonist of Lukas the Trickster is Duke Sliscus, so I snapped THAT book up immediately, but have yet to get a chance to sit down and read it.

I finished Outer Dark. I preferred it to Red Tithe, but neither of them are must reads. Still a decent book however.
I'm now reading Devastation of Baal. Only 70 pages in, so no verdict so far.

I just finished Devastation of Baal. It’s a good read, and deals with a lot of space marine emotion.
Now reading Ciaphas Cain novel #9, The Greater Good. I’ve found the last few a little less interesting than the earlier ones, so i’ll see how I get on with this one.

Actually, no! I like their fluff, but I think it's a strong flavor and easy to get too much of. I like them in small doses best...short stories and guest star roles (like The Emperor's Gift). I was told by a work associate that the antagonist was Duke Sliscus, and I'm a HUGE Dark Eldar fan, Duke Sliscus in particular.
Josh Reynolds does an awesome job of having showing a character who not only exemplifies the Space Wolves' strengths, but who is unflinching in pointing out their flaws as well. The Duke was also phenomenally well written. I love renegade archetype characters, and the two rogues clashing makes just such an awesome story.
I highly recommend it.

Last thing I read was the The Beast Arises series...
Never has the quality of the story & writing of a piece of fiction managed to legitimately piss me off until Rob Sanders single handedly ruined the entire series with the utter piece of gak that is book 11. It is so bad I had to restrain myself not immediately tossing all those books in the garbage bin. Not ever again will I touch anything with the name of this amateur attached to it.
If anyone is still planning to read it: honestly DON'T. I guarantee you will end up disappointed or worse.
Next to read: Titandeath

Finished the third omnibus of Ciaphas Cain books. Book 9 was decent, and the novella ‘Old Soldiers Never Die’ or whatever it’s called was good.
I also just read Anarch, the new one from Gaunt’s Ghosts. I thought it was incredible, a real return to for after The Warmaster which I found good, but not great.

I've got a kindle full of black library books and my only complaint really is that they are not long enough. Most are entertaining enough, even the not so good ones are still a night's entertainment.
I can eat through thousands of pages and so I tend to read through a few of the shorter one's on work travel flights that are only a few hours long.
I'd love to see something along the lines of the Belgariad or the Mallorean in scale and length. Singular rather than an anthology of shorter stories. HH has plenty of opportunity for this. It would be nice for a Black Library book to last me a week of reading.
My favorites are still the Thousand Son's Novels. All of em.

Started with the second omnibus of Gotrek and Felix! I wager two more of these omnibus releases and I'll be ready for the audiobook!
As an aside their choice of short stories for the first omnibus was odd; quite a few are clearly set way after events even in the second omnibus.

Wrapped up Honourbound last night, good read, some serious (in a good, nostalgic kind of way for me) Gaunt's Ghosts vibes coming from this one.
Nice big cast of characters, all comes together nicely, potential sequel hook, what's not to like?
