The first Imperial Knight kit was the Paladin/Errant kit:

Yup, that was the first 40k Knight.

You might also be interested to know that it was predated by the Eldar Wraithknight as a plastic super heavy walker.

Also the Imperial Knight existed in epic scale many many years previously! They're bottom left in the picture.

Back when they were billed as Colonists that took over eldar maiden worlds created Knights as defense weapons against Pirates and mega fauna.

I kind of prefer the new lore over that.

Strange, I bought titan legions new, but until looking at the picture again I would have told someone that it came with the Emperor, Knights, Megagargants and stompa mobs.

I sold my Emperor class titan from it a few years ago and received more than I paid for the box of Titan legions, so I feel good able that.

Armourcast/Epicast released licensed GW titans back in the early 2000's. They had Eldar and Imperial titans available. I don't know what the release order was.

It was in the 90's during 2nd ed. They had 1. The Phantom. They also made the Eldar Knight of the time.

Wish I had picked up the 28mm Warhound back then.

I had the old Adeptus Titanicus (with the 6 plastic beetle backs) - when did the first metal knights and rules for them appear? I know it was before the Titan Legions rules came out...

It never ends well

Though it is mildly amusing to note that the Wraithknight, despite its size, was released in the "armoured Monstrous Creatures epoch" not long after the Riptide and the Dreadknight, and it wasn't actually a superheavy until 7e since you couldn't use superheavies in standard-size games before Escalation and the Imperial Knight Codex mid-late 6e.

They also had a warhound titan and a reaver titan.

I don't feel the Warhound had aged well. The Reiver did somewhat, but the armorcast warhound did not as well.

I've brought this up before, but back around 2011 I managed to snag the unreleased Epicast Imperial knight on ebay for something like $70. I'd love to play it in a GW store and see if they let me play with it in-store. Technically it's a GW licensed product.

I also came pretty close to getting an unreleased Armorcast Warlord titan, but that kind of fell through.
