Everything is looking good so far, MegaDave.

What's next on the to-do list?

2021-4 Plog - Here we go again... - my fifth attempt at a Dakka PLOG

My Pile of Potential - updates ongoing...

What a project! While I've got a fair few of these old grouchy metal dudes (quietly rotting unpainted in boxes - some rediscovered last week even!) I've certainly never seen so many Chaos Androids in one place

Painted lads look great too! Your momentum is real, keep it up dude

Well thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

I think I'm going to paint up the Chaos Squat next, and another 5 androids. I dread having to get through all 40 of them but if I do a few at a time with another unit I think I can keep myself from going crazy.

Thanks,

Managed to get a few more models done, went HQ's this time.

I've always had a soft spot for the old sorcerer, but I am really loving the chaos squat warpsmith now that he's painted up.

Havocs are next!

Thanks,

That's a very angry egg, MegaDave

And a couple of those old Sorcerer sculpts still hold up today.

Looking real good!

For the Chaos Androids, maybe 1k Sons or Plague Marines would be a better use than Cultists? Catch their reliance.

Ya know, if I had thought about that ahead of time I should have painted him up as a Kinder egg!

I was going the cultist route simply because of the base size, and for fluff reasons. Were androids really tough back in the day?

Basically these Iron Warriors need disposable troops, and the only materials they have to make them out of are aluminum.

Plus, they are plastic, so they are obviously not as strong as the metal models in the army. Pewter within, pewter without!

Thank you so much for doing this! It's really taking me back!

And that Chaos Squat Warpsmith just kills it. Best. Ever.

Just a game thing on the cultists, the updated codex capped them at 30, if that's a thing that matters to you. Can obviously still plow through all 40 and have a little 10 man filler for troop tax or something, but figured I'd point it out in case you were just doing 40 to max out.

Chiming in to say great work on these guys- those hazard stripes in particular look great. I remember seeing an Iron Warriors army in White Dwarf sometime in the 3rd Ed era, and you've captured that look and feel perfectly.

Should've mounted the Dreads on 40mm squares to be REALLY Old Skool.

Managed to finish the Havocs, although I am sorta bummed they are now going to 40mm bases... Oh well!

Glad everyone is enjoying the angry egg, it's going to be hard not to call him that during games lol

Chain cannons? We don't need no stinking chain cannons!

Oh, and as much as I love the idea of the square bases on the dreads, not happening! The though of un pinning them and scraping off all that super glue makes me shiver!

Going over to a buddies to paint, so might have another update later. We'll see how much more I can get done today.

Thanks,

MegaDave

We veterans of the long war all know the humble autocannon > everything else.

God such nostalgia here.

Yup the heavy bolters are fun models, had to have some!

So here is the WIP rhino, what do we think about the hazard stripes? I think they turned out pretty good, trying to figure out if the other rhino's stripes should go the same direction or opposite.

Thanks,

MegaDave

Painting night was a success, got a rhino finished!

I think I might have to spring for a decal on the side doors after everything else gets painted. Other than that though I like how it turned out. I feel like I've got some momentum!
