Contrary to any possible expectation, today The OP (aka USAopoly) announced the development of Talisman: Kingdom Hearts Edition, which is coming later this year. The OP is known for publishing other licensed version of popular classic games based on pop culture 3rd party properties. In this case, Talisman, an acclaimed board game published by Games Workshop, which is at its fourth edition, will feature a whole new Kingdom Hearts-inspired version.

I think its a good idea. Its not for me, but the simple fact is the board game playing community is far more diverse than the GW playing hobbying community. There's no reason to keep a good rule set out a groups hands just because the original veneer isn't as interesting to them.

Having only a basic understanding of Talisman, I think that's a reasonable fit for a reskin/variant. Sure, why not?

So, I can't actually tell from the announcement or webpages or twit-ter, but is GW actually involved in any way at all?

It sounds more like this other company 'the OP' or 'USA-opoly' or whatever they're called can just make a talisman game for reasons.

It's licenced or they wouldn't be able to call it Talisman (although they'd be free to basically do an identical game without the name)

More like Munchkin, I'd say, as the focus will probably stay on stuff that's of interest to gamers (whether video game or other).

I think the strangest combo that I've seen to date was the 'Munchkin Nightmare Before Christmas' release.

Talisman's gameplay - what little it has - is pretty divorced from the theme. It's prety amenable to being reskinned for all sorts of settings (the 2nd edition in the 90s reskinned it for Warhammer, for example).

USAopoly/The OP have the license to use Talisman as a game, as others have said, they’ll just re-skin it for any ol’ property now. There won’t be any GW world stuff at all

GW has become increasingly free with their licensing over the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised to hear news of a Netflix/Amazon television series deal or a 40K movie in the works within the next year or two.

Talisman: Batman is now a thing ..with Talisman Batman - Super Villians Edition as well.. play as Batman Villians going thru a board of Arkham Asylum.. Batman is not a playable character but is a hazard to avoid.

Yup. Getting Batman for me and Kingdom Hearts for my wife (there's Neverland stuff in there, which means Tinkerbell for her). Gonna have a 3rd edition copy (for Warhammer Fantasy), Relic, Batman and Kingdom Hearts. That'll scratch my itch, depending on which universe I want.
