So, I searched the forum and while there were some results, none were on point and all were ten years old, or nearly so.

How many of you do NOT have signatures disabled in your settings?

I spend way too much time fiddling with my signature and trying to advertise my (terrible) threads... but I have everybody else's signature disabled.

If everyone has signatures disabled, why am I bothering with mine?

I have signatures enabled.

Seems a bit... odd to disable everyone else's signature, if you're so concerned with your own.

I have sigs enabled on the computer but disabled on the mobile device, the long sigs are annoying on a small screen and it makes the pages longer

I've got signatures on (but most of the stuff in mine is sadly out of date)

Disabled - speeds things up nicely and gets rid of the chaff that appears. Easier to spin through a thread and pick up images and spoilers with them disabled.

I turn them off - there's too many users with sigs longer than the content of their posts.

Same here.

Sigs, like avatars, help me identify posters at a glance, and help when skimming threads. I miss them when on my mobile devices, as I have to double check who posted more often.

In my defence, when I first signed up to Dakka I was staying with a friend and subject to an awfully weak internet connection, so loading pics in a P&M blog at the same time as sigs took forever, so I got rid of sigs.

But that's the 'grrrr' of the thread really, to see if there's any point in even having a sig.

Turned them off years ago - quite a few posters had obnoxious and/or oversize sigs.

To be fair, I also don't read anyone elses. It's like white noise.

Except BCB's. I always read his. [Hers? Theirs?]

I keep sigs enabled. I like the (admittedly minor) insight they give into people's personalities or interests. I occasionally even find myself paying more attention to a person's posts because their sig makes them seem less of an obnoxious twit than I would have judged them from their post content alone.

I've got mine enabled, since they occasionally lead to blogs I want to check out.

And in turn, mine's just a link to my blog.

This is also (partly) why I keep mine enabled. I couldn't tell you why it interests me on a personal level. It's just one of those things.

I also find that sigs are a good back up method of identifying posters, in the (not so common) event that someone changes their avatar, because I tend to use the avatars as identification rather then the username. A little odd, but that's my brain.

I did that so long ago I'd forgotten Dakka even had sigs. Do I still have one? (I'm too lazy to check. ) Also, for helping cut down the visual chaff, because when I did it, there had been a proliferation of image heavy, and IIRC, more than a few that were a long line of animated emoticons which I found massively distracting while trying to read.

Disabled so they don't get in the way of actual content. Some user sigs are obnoxious. Sigs are no better than web ads and I don't know anyone who likes web ads.

I'm not even sure what my own is anymore. It's probably obnoxious and/or very ad like.

You don't have a sig.

I like them, they add a bit of flair to the page and like Nev said, it helps me identify who is who.

Mine are on, but I'm often on mobile with a potato phone that would explode if I turned on full scale Dakka... So I generally don't see signatures anyway.

Switched on, as some folks do link to good topics or have fun quotes of days gone by.

That and I feel I can't really disable them with the current [MOD] tag, as every once in a while I stumble across a bad sig (inadvertently) bypassing the swear filter or one with an outdated image that gives a security error to other users.

Switched off on my phone though, but then again I don't post or moderate from there, just to do quick checks while working should the need arise.

So, while the sample is currently small the results so far are that more than four out of five of you (83%) have sigs turned on.

I won't feel too bad for obsessing over my sig, if those numbers hold up.

I like signatures, generally.

I forgot there even was an option, but no, I keep them enabled.
