December 2022 Preview!
December 2022 Preview!
The Atlantic Digital team is hard at work on our December releases! This month's theme was voted on on our website and the winner was "Civilians". All the sets, characters, conversion parts, vehicles, and terrain pieces have something to do with the civilian theme across all 11 of our ranges.

The teaser image above is just a hint of what's to come.

Also we wanted to let you know how we'll be releasing all the new goodies. Starting next week we will begin to release on a staggered basis with the majority coming around mid-month. But the releases won't stop there, we'll continue to drop new files throughout the month.

We also need to start getting ready for January so we'll be hitting everyone up with a poll to determine the January theme. Stay tuned!

Here are some of the releases that are coming in December by range:

Classic Fantasy: Dragon and Thief - vignette/multi-part set

Renaissance: Japanese Sengoku/Edo Era Peasants - full multi-part set

Death Fields: Cannon Fodder non-combatant arms/parts/bodies

Death Fields: Arena Security Team multi-part set

Blood Oaths/Renaissance: Peasants

Blood Oaths: Armed/unarmed Monks multi-part set

Classic Fantasy: Three wagon caravan with drivers and guards multi-part set

Imperial Conquests: British Policemen multi-part set

Napoleon's Wars: Camp Followers multi-part set

Great War: Field Hospital nurses, doctors, patients (also armed versions) multi-part set

First Empires: Egyptian Slaves multi-part set

Decline and Fall: TBA

World Ablaze: TBA

It's a big, big release again this month!

Update on the expected release for December

Sigh, all the cool civilian stuff I'm really interested in appears to be 3D print

Some of you have probably seen the preview of either nuns with guns, or nurses with guns. I favor the latter as they look somewhat like these 19th century nurses.

Well I guess I was kinda right on the nuns a few weeks back 🤷‍♂️ At least that’s what I’m claiming!

Still hammering things out. We want parts offered to be of quality, so are taking our time to make sure arrangements are made correctly to facilitate such.

What about all the sets in plastic that have been teasered for years? Napoleonic spanish, FPW bavarians, Indian mutiny british etc.?
While I am happy for the 3D printers, one gets the impression that the "real" stuff has been put on back burner for the 99% rest of us...

You can still keep track of all plastic progress on the website. We're in the middle of preorders/delivery for Alien Bugs, Landsknech Ogres, Space Nam and Hoo Rahs? 3 new plastic kits were announced just in November?

Yeah, but what about the many sets that were announced years ago? Where painted previews were already shown etc.? Seems many things were dropped for some obscure new stuff.

That coincides also with someone's comment above suggesting finishing ranges instead of tackling anything at once. Many sets would sell better (and be more useful to the consumer) when accompanied by the whole range - like infantry, cavalry, artillery for historicals or infantry and command/heavy weapons for sci-fi. The Grognards do it right. I often hear though, that people won't buy Raumjäger or Bulldogs etc. as there is no command, crew etc. available. What about the Afghan cavalry, or the Conquistador cavalry? These should have come out right after the infantry. With years in between, people will either skip the range altogether or have used metals already.

I say this as someone who owns most of WA sets and over 20 boxes, so a fan of sorts. Just a bit worried by some lack of release coherency and the strong 3D print focus.
Have a great weekend!

There were always long waits for each wave of releases. I’m not seeing a change in plastic release tempo. I think it just feels like they’ve abandoned plastics because they’re talking so much about the new product releases they’ve made to fill in all the blank weeks on the schedule.

I agree.

I received my Bulldogs, month or two later and the Cannon Fodder II order has come in.

I skipped Ooh Rah but The Vain are due to ship soon. That will be followed by The Harvesters.

I'm content with the schedule.

Now let's have a look at these Death Fields Arena Security...

That's fair, we have little insight into how sets are chosen. Some seem to plug gaps in other companies' lines but some are quite redundant (goblins, afghans). WGA seems to shoot for a little bit for everyone rather than everything for a few people. But we are seeing some moves towards "versus" sets like Aztecs and Conquistadors and WW1 infantry, upcoming Indian mutiny, and whole factions lineups like Chinese warring states and I think some Egypt. Don't forget that this is still early days, testing the waters. Has WGA even been around 2 whole years?

11 ranges is a lot if you do about 1 sprue a month.

Feels weird to see so very many long shafted axes in the preassembled japanese peasant figures.

Then again, there's six arms with long shafted axes in the files, so I guess it was unavoidable.

Not a single hoe, though, which is extremely strange.

What does an Edo period Japanese hoe even look like?

Something like this:

(These are from anime, but the hoe is almost perfect):

Would be way more frequent to see than bigass axes, too. Particularly paired with buckets, as a fair number of the preassembled minis are.

All of them are in development, with thier current status on the release page. We haven't put anything on the back burner. Both plastics and digital are running concurrently.

Very nice

Maybe it would be nice to see more arms with truncheons instead of so many guns, though.

Also, reminds me of that joke of police going in pairs, because one can read and the other can write. Apparently having gun means you're too dumb to use a baton

And what is that weird raised fist gesture? Someone forgot tacticool hand signals won't be invented for the next 100 years?

EDIT: Also, why they all have medals? Looking at photos and reenactors, that was rare, here, they all sport one. And the fact they have different coats bothers me, apparently one is winter model, the other summer, shouldn't they be more uniform in appearance...?

EDIT2: Looking further, Victorian police often had sleeve formation/unit badges or patches. Here, no one has it. And if it's a police squad, one should be higher ranked and have sleeve rank chevrons. There should be also collar markings, but that at least can be excused thanks to scale...

Do we have an actual date (ie day/month) the plastic Spacenam arrive in Australia, rather than just mid-December?

No.

Longer answer:

1. access to the plastics distribution information is not within the purview of the person replying to this post.

2. HQ normally does information releases on the main website when shipments arriving to the various ports are close to their turn to dock/ touch down on the runway, etc.

Friends and Wargamers, it is time.

Our first printed products are now available to purchase at Only-Games! We've uploaded a few products so far and the rest will be following them. Only-Games is UK based but has excellent shipping rates and an incredibly high quality plastic. More to come but here's what we have so far:

Well, that Victorian Policeman set looks like a nice price point to try out the printed product. Maybe look at converting them into Provosts for my Praetorians with some sci fi arms.
