Presumably some Iron Hands marines won't be able to undergo the change to Primaris.
It'd be nice of we got a Kor Phaeron style explanation, that they are mostly bionics within the new suits.
Give us a bionic upgrade sprue please GW.

The chaos warband is bloody excellent. These are the Chaos Marauders I have always wanted. I will definitely get some, maybe even enough for a small AOS army. I think they would go great with the Darkoath characters.
And in general, I think these Warcry teams are an amazing thing for Chaos. So much more options. You can theme your army around aesthetic of one warband, or you could make each unit unique, representing an army that some warlorld has drawn from several different tribes.
The Iron Hand character is great, though I'm disappointed that it is a named character instead of a generic one. I really want a Primaris Techmarine.

Seeing as that Iron Father has only one embossed IH emblem* on his shoulder, what are the odds "named" doesn't translate to generic model with a named datasheet? Similar to the BA/DA/SW primaris LTs have names but are also essentially generic models. I could see the Iron Father coming with a second generic shoulder guard and a generic head to make a primaris techmarine.
I just don't see GW not capitalizing on generic primaris techmarine. So I would bet it comes in a character box like the captain and apothecary rather than a blister.
*The knee pad looks to be painted or a transfer rather than embossed.

they released Primaris as and additional marine force not a replacement marine force which is that they will be if they stop releasing real marines.

It will be interesting to see if there are generic rules for a primaris techmarine, or if he remains just a special character. As an example, they could have taken the opportunity of releasing the victrix honour guards to make rules for generic primaris HG, but didn’t. No lore reason why the role isn’t filled in other chapters, specifically the primaris only ones, but no model, no rules.
Looking at that shoulder, I think it might be one piece, so a harder swap than just a blank pad. Could be wrong. I like the model and might grab one. Always like techmarines, even if their rules have frequently been spotty.

So if its just an Iron Father, then what would replacing the head and shoulder do for anyone else exactly? I don't see how your comment makes any sense.

Useless model when you play campaign where no primaris were historically present. Primaris are wrong scale to even count as reqular marines

It would make him a tech marine. Why should an IH release do things for anyone else?

I can, but we need rules for a techmarine with this gear. I guess it is fair for IH to get a special character, but I've never been a fan of special characters, they're such a waste. I always prefer more widely usable normal characters over them.

Gotta love watching goalposts move in real time.
What happened to all the "stop being such Chicken Littles of course GW are going to keep making minimarines!"? Now it's "well Primaris are better anyway and OMG just shut up".
I don't collect or particularly care for minimarines as models(I vastly prefer their aesthetic, background, and everything else of course, because I have taste), and even I think you lot are 'avin a larf.
Nice to see an Iron Hands character. Shame it's Primaris, for people who don't like those, and also a shame it's too late for me to find it appealing given the mauling GW have given the Chapter in recent years.

That has always been two different groups of people. I for one have been convinced since the release of the first Primaris models that the old marines are done for. And I'm fine with that.

Hopefully he is the first of a string of named characters getting models.
He has "Feirros" printed on his shin, so maybe it's a Rubiconed version of the current Master of the Forge.

Anyone want to take odds on a IH vs EC box coming in the near future?
The AM range are IMO some of the best looking models GW have made in recent years. So I'm really looking forward to them getting more stuff.
Chaos Knights getting a dedicated release should be interesting from both a models and rules perspective.
The AoS terrain continues to look great. I forsee a lot of battles over ruined temples ahead
The Warcry gang/clan beast is interesting. Could this be there "brute" where the other clan got an Ogre?

seperate kit, GW hasn't released a upgrade kit of that type in ages. (the AT stuff is forge world)
the big question is "will this also include a chaos Knight CODEX"?
IMHO they'll need to do something to drive sales, most people intreasted in running a chaos knight as it stands already have converted an Imperial Knight. but there are a lotta chaos players, myself included, on the fence who might snag a few if given a codex.
