While we're at it - and mainly because I will not abide $30 single plastic models with zero options...

Eldar need a three model kit for psykers - containing bits for Farseers, Warlocks, and Spiritseers (ideally enough to make three of each if you want). Modular, with a couple of arm and body options, etc. Sell it for $50 or whatever...it would replace all of the other SKUs and make Eldar players happy. They essentially did it with the Jetbike psyker kit.

GW: Instructions unclear, made a box with random finecast warlocks instead.

Also plastic Autarch on foot with options but way it's going I'm not sure commanders with options is a thing anymore.

Yeah, the joke around here is that...on the plus side, everything in the game will be WYSIWYG...which oddly, may be GW's goal.

Yeah the Gen 2 real nightmares were the Fire Dragons and Scorpions.

These were Juan Diaz's intro models, produced under instruction by Gary Morley.

After this release, Diaz stuck to his own style, and the improvement was rather incredible.

Kinda bizarre that Warp Spiders got passed over when all the other Aspects have been updated at least twice.
Guess somebody really had it in for them.

Point of order - Shining Spears are also on their first kit, AFAIK.

To be fair, though, that first kit is nowhere near as old as the Spiders. They were only introduced in 3rd edition.

With the popularity of the Eldar line, I don't know why GW would not capitalize on new models. .

Mostly because right now they're more focused on producing new stuff, instead of renovating old stuff.

I rather suspect that at some point we'll get an advancement of the Eldar fluff where they have abandoned the old paths because reasons, and have melded the original Aspects into one elite warrior path instead. Basically units of Autarchs.

Hey insaniak I don't go on a forum and post your nightmares that are scarily true...... I worry enough about GW's Eldar writing as it is*

I don't get the Warp Spider hate. I like their look. Solid.

What you'd do is do three dual-kits combining units with the same armour (3+ v. 4+) and leg poses. Banshees/Hawks (acrobatic jumpy poses, lighter 4+ armour), Spiders/Scorpions (active/mobile poses, heavier 3+ armour), and Reapers/Dragons (braced shooty poses, heavier 3+ armour). Legs and torsos could be almost entirely interchangeable (if they go with 3 male/2 female per kit as standard the way they did with the DE and do with the newer Stormcast that means you need three extra breastplates in the Banshee/Hawk kit), so you just need alternate weapons, heads, and back decorations/warp packs/wings.

Dire Avengers could do a dual-kit with Guardians (you'd need different right arm/weapon parts, breastplates, heads, and the shoulder camera bit), Shining Spears would be a rider upgrade sprue you'd put in a box with some of the existing Windrider sprues the way they do new Knight kits these days.

I saw the thread title and typed out the plan I've had in my head for a few years, then decided to read the rest of the thread before posting it. It's basically this, word-for-word.

I feel dual kits doesn't really work with Eldar Aspects. They did do a combo set where Dire Avengers were an upgrade sprue to Guardians and they looked rubbish. I think you'll lose too much identity from each aspect warrior if you combined kits.

I'm desperate for something to happen though.

Modern sprue density I think allows for a much more unique look. there would be enough space on a 3-sprue, 10-person kit for unique weapons, chest parts, backpacks, helmets, etc. The Tau Firewarrior / Breacher kit manages it (plus a load of drone parts and the battle dustbin).

I think it's the only practical solution, short of a full-on primaris-style relaunch with a complete, (but much smaller) new range of slightly upscaled minis and putting the old lot on a ship of the west along with the original marines.

(and let's be perfectly honest, Yvraine and the Visarch are already pushing it in terms of scale consistency).
