It depends on how you read it... its got two "or"s. It can have X or Y, Or it can have something from Z.
So it sounds like it must have X or Y, unless it has Z. In other words it sounds like what is has is optional, but it must have something. You can't completely bare-bones the thing for NN points, you must spend NN+ PP or QQ points.

Why not? 5 dudes would get their rerolls out of bubble range, tick up to AP4 on turn 1, and so would nearly auto-hit, auto-wound, and auto-pen a predator. Not to mention other possible buffs from other chapters & stratagems.

3+ actually. I have not seen a disciple bonus or strat to push it though, so save that CP.

Disappointment building. Yet again - playing it safe with codex marines. 10 man dark reapers...totally fine. 6 man eliminators OP. Automatically Appended Next Post: Daedalus81 wrote:bort wrote:

The chaplain abilities are actually pretty disappointing too. No denfeisve buffs and the only good ability is 6" and requires you to start the turn at that range. If you can pull it off it will be powerful - but it takes 2 turns to set it up and you can't die in that time frame. Seems like another useless unit IMO. Not nearly as good as the chaos dark apostle.

Just drawing comparison to the fact that DR can be taken in 10 man squads and made basically untargtable all game. Marine players get 3 man units that function a lot like dark reapers but can't be made into bigger units because presumably that would be OP because they can be made untargetable...

Eliminatetors can be untargetable without extra support and are way more durable.
Treating reapers like they have some innate ability doesn't make for a good comparison.

Im speaking of the las fusile version specifically. Both have a flat 3 long range weapon with str 8. Las fusil is 1 more point more ap and DR ignore hit penalties with a similar point cost / ones more durable and 1 has longer range. Very comparable unit actually. 1 being allowed to be taken in 10 mans and benefit from spells and strats at a high level. The other - forced to stand in LOS without defensive stratagem support in 3 man squads. Why? Kind of a rhetorical why...we all know why. GW plays it safe with marines.

cause they're differant units? for the record a large 5 or 6 man squad of snipers, militarily makes no sense. snipers operate in teams or 2 or so IRL.
the best way to run las fusil's might be to give the sergent the boltcarbine. have him sacrifice his shooting to buff his subordinates and make sure they have some anti-infantry protection close by.

IRL doesn't matter. What matters is how comparable units measure up and game play mechanics. Large units benefit from support spells and stratagems more and therefore are better units. Do you dispute this?

They aren't comparable units.
When DR can target enemy Characters, then we'll talk.

Things dont need to be directly comparable. Incursors counter reapers reasonably well. The regular eliminators will work them down very easily with a large to hit bonus and ignore cover on top of what is now AP2.

That 10 man unit of reapers are t3 1w infantry and are 340 points.... how many eliminators can you take for 340 points?
You can blast the wave serpent they are hiding in with your extra ap heavy guns and then hit them with a squad of tacs you just dropped from a drop pod on t1.
It seems you think unless you got some sort of auto win combo, and all the rules, and all of the models your army is trash. Ehh marine players...

He correct though.
If it is any consolation, expect a high pricetag on him due to gw thinking a psy power without deny and failchance with exploading head is alot more expensive then he actually should be.

You think Marneus Calgar and the Ultramarines dragged an unregistered psyker hanging out with a chapter known to ABHOR THE WITCH right up to stasis fielded Gulliman during an assault by the Ruinous Powers who are known for taking advantage of unregistered psykers thus the reason for registering them in the first place?
