I missed the Indy short film a few years ago (the first video posted on this YouTube channel) but I'm glad I caught this trailer for the upcoming full movie. Looks interesting!
It's a relatively low budget scifi film that I hope finds an audience ala District 9. I enjoyed last year's Upgrade movie for the unpretentious scifi action click it was but from the roughly $15 mil box office take (on a $5 mil budget) it seems like I wasn't in the majority.

I'll watch it. I am just now reading Steelheart from Brian Sanderson so am digging getting back into superhero dystopia rather than shining good guys.
This is like the old RPG Brave New World, where non-registered supers are outlawed by a tyrannical government (who use their registered supers to stop the "terrorists").

"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
I like it. It's like someone looked at how Marvel makes its movies and said "wait, anyone can just take a genre film, add super powers, and play it straight. that's easy!"
I'll give it a shot.

I do agree with this though. It's a really dull cliche at this point. The "sick mom" angle is what I think really sell's the character's plight.

Yeah, it definitely plays into the original 60s xmen mutant premise stand in for racism but I'm a bit excited to see a hopefully fresh take on it. Ymmv.
I'd still like to see something akin the the premise of Steelheart as a series, where evil versions of Superman and Flash-level supers completely rule the world because they can do whatever they want. We see lots of media where there is a dark take on superheroes, but even in stuff like "The Boys", the government is still firmly in control and above even the most powerful supers, no matter how far they make their supers "grimdark".

Actually not a bad film. Simple straight forward story, lots of X-Man vibe, but it's better than any of the X-Men films imo. There's two parts of the story that get really wonky, mostly toward the end (which sucks pretty hard with its complete lack of resolution or even comprehension) but everything up to that point worked pretty well.
@Kan and Lord, thanks. I saw a mention of box office take on wikipedia but couldn't find anything more outside of a much smaller opening in the Arab Emirates.
I watched it too. It was alright for a low budget affair. There were some good moments, and some spots where it fell flat. The end few minutes was just kinda....an end.

I'm only about a third of the way through and it seems to have taken a hard turn in terms of plot/theme compared with the trailer. I'm not sure if I'll finish.
