Huh. I hadn't realized how much I missed those maps, and proper maps (with a feeling that someone could live there) in general.

Huh, I guess its going to predate the Warhammer we know. Well, that's one way of making new models to sell.
Does that count as Warhammer Historical

I don't see how. There were still elves in the world back then, just not as we know them.

Ditto with lizards and orcs. Not sure about Vampire counts though. I think the Von Carsteins were after those Emperors?

Focus will likely be with the 4 emperors. Period was likely chosen precisely to cut amount of stuff they need to release at once to manageable levels. Start with empire, then expand with say orcs and chaos. High elves didn't play part in 4 emperor thing.

You think thev will release like 50+ kits at once?

Alright, that's a fair point. I'm not sure one would even be able to use one's army anyway, if its set during a different time frame. I think only lizardmen would get to use their old roster, because those guys never change, irrc.

The First Vampire War was definitely within that general era, though quite a ways towards the end, so one should hope they are present in the game (for the sake of new models, if nothing else)

The Empire heraldry book has a lot of stuff like that in it.
Empire did have a lot of it, particularly in their history, as it seems this setting may be.

I’d be pretty happy with that. We could work forward in the timeline.

Isn't it "Age of Three Emperors"? I haven't heard of "Age of Four Emperors" cant find anything online about it?

But basically what I predicted - the game does not appear set in the "Old World" during the End Times or just prior to it, but rather an even earlier era so as to limit the range of factions and the focus/scope of the game to humans specifically. I'm sure we'll get other factions eventually, but I wouldn't expect them on release based on this.

the overall period is called Age of 3 Emperors, lasting 700 years, ending 2300 with Magnus
the specific timeframe of 1980 to 2010 is also referred as Age of 4 Emperors, while technical there were 5 as Vlad also proclaimed himself Emperor

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I am 100% on board for Age of Three Emperors, but I hope they don't linger there too long given that essentially rules out participation by Chorfs, High Elves, Dark Elves(mostly), Tomb Kings, and probably Ogre Kingdoms as well. Even Vampire Counts as they existed in WHFB are a bit of a stretch since ol' Vlad was still pretending to be a living Elector Count at that stage.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Yeah, was wrong on the names. Not even the same three as The Three Emperors.

Wonder where this is going. Possibly a World That Was that found a different fate, and these are the competitors for a fallen Franz’s throne?

That could be cool.

Looking at how well AoS is doing, I think that’s a slim hope. Other than this whole project.

That’s.....historyhammer. I’m sure that The Four Emperors?

Wasn’t Magritta of Marienburg famously one of the claimants when Mordheim was destroyed? I seem to remember from the background of that game that part of the reason for the antagonism between the mercenaries from the various provinces was that Marienburg, Middenland and Reikland all had a claimant to the throne at the time?

In other words, is this about a new version of Mordheim instead of Warhammer proper? Or did they simply set the new Warhammer in that time to more easily accommodate Mordheim as the skirmish variant?

That might be why the name rings a bell. Will need to dig out my Mordheim book (which I totally remembered I’ve not read for like, 10 years) to check the number. Could be an ancestor?

While I agree it's very unlikely it's also a small gesture that would go a long way.

They can easily expand game into other periods to bring dwarves and high elves with war of the beard etc. So it's not like this will 100% lock others out forever. But I think it's going to start small scale and build up there. FW went with horus heresy for AT to keep number of kits needed at once down but for example the beast series could be used to bring ork gargants to the game later.

I sooooo would love to see war of the beard! That and high elves vs dark elves are two of my favourite pieces of fluff from old world.

The map is indeed beautiful. This leads me to believe this is a historical game, which falls in line with Horus Heresy comparisons that we have been given.

Which also means you aren't getting all your races fellas. It'll be limited to whoever matters in this timeframe.

Made in gb
Ridin' on a Snotling Pump Wagon

Well, all the races were present at that time. Which arguably was a weakness of the setting.

But now there’s a clearly defined End Of Things, a sort of retrospective release, where we as players get to delve into things.
