So 2019 saw it's share of surprises, both Battle Sisters and Enforcers got plastic kits, and... ambots?! Other mini companies continues to press into plastics with Wargames Atlantic and Fireforge putting out some cool plastic sets. 3D printing became mainstream and will be interesting to see how that impacts miniature gaming.

So with this in mind... what are your completely false and made up 2020 rumors?

1 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line with a new education line including Warhammer Science, Warhammer History and Warhammer Math books.

If a unit of 5 Howling Banshees charges a unit of 10 tactical marines what is the chance of them destroying the Marines before they can strike back? What are the odds of breaking the Marines and forcing them to flee?

2 - April will GW reveal that the plastic battle sisters were in fact an elaborate April Fools joke. Models from the boxes set spontaneously crumble into dust.

3 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line with a new line of fully-licensed Nerf guns and swords.

4 - GW will respond to the threat of 3D printers and protect their valuable IP by suing major printer makers insisting they modify the firmware so that printers are incapable of producing models with skulls.

5 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line with a line of licensed Paw Patrol models. However the line will fail when GW realizes that other than the Paw Patrol and Kitty Katasrophy Krew there really aren't any more factions.

6 - Hasbro buys GW, Disney buys Hasbro, Sanginius is the newest Disney Princess.

7 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line with a line of GW coloring books and Citadel Crayons. Citadel Crayons start at US$5 a crayon.

8 - GW wraps up the Horus Heresy with the Siege of Terra Book 5: The One Where Sanguinius Dies. They immediately announce they will follow up with an all-female reboot of the Heresy.

The Age of Darkness is over as the Empress and Primas spread their light across the Galaxy. But can even the Imperia survive when Hora betrays her?

9 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line with a line of chibi- wait a second!

So what have all you guys got?

BFG gets relaunched with proper good rules and nicely costed spacesheeps, I'm forced to not say anything bad about it

Dark Future get re-released, its not very good so us Gaslands hipsters lure a few out of the GW bubble

Steamforged release the last Minor Guilds for Guildball nearly on time, then give up the idea and merges them with the proper teams

We'll see the merging of 40k and AoS into a single game at the end of 2020 just as with Warmachine and Hordes.
The models and units will remain valid but the rules will be adapted accordingly.

Bheaer and Preat' Sel.

GW start adding fermentation vats and Stills to miniatures as iconography - Diageo et al can therefore no longer brew alcohol.

Don't be ridiculous. Can you please keep these things somewhere in the possibility of even a rumor?

Like:
Custodes are revamped, all the dinky not a faction factions (inquisition, Sisters of silence, etc) are put back into one book and you are told to play them all together so they're an actual force.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

As Gamesworkshop and Disney are at a standoff to aquire each other, they will have no choice but to merge, resulting in the new Necromunda themepark at Nottingham, and the introduction of Smurfmarines in Phase 5.

GW announces another new legacy boxed game: Trolls in the Pantry.

GW begins a talent search for the new Duncan Rhodes, and we discover that Will Wheaton can paint like a mo-fo, but is an inveterate brush-licker and has an allergic reaction to Contrast paints.

GW introduces a new painting goal, past Battle Ready or Parade Ready called Just Paint the Damn Things, supported by a line of spray paints that lay down three colors at once.

To help painters working with batch painting, GW releases the Citadel Painting Handle Painting Handle. It holds five Citadel Painting Handles for easy squad painting.

GW reveals that the Primaris weren't supposed to be any bigger than the old marines, and fixes it by producing new rulers and tape measures which are slightly bigger!

Gw skips 9th edition and moves straight to X edition, “All marines all the time”. The likes of Tau, Eldar and Tyranids are retconned as realizing how powerful Space marines are that simply adopt power armor - but keep their old paint schemes so they can easily be identified. Necrons? Turns out they were Rubicae all along.

To simplify the Necromunda card experience GW will release a new deck to replace the fragmented mess with a new, easily to shuffle set of only 400 cards.

(Depressingly this would still be an improvement).

Print Codexes will still be full of errata, but GW will issue the corrected PDFs straight to 4chan.

To kill two birds with one stone, the Squats will get a Thunderhawk.

And yeah, I would buy the gak out of a nerf boltgun.

I'm down for a NERF boltgun and 40K versions of those adult colouring books. Definitely third-party crayons for me though.

And in further rumours:
  • Continuing the trend of returning to old background material, GW will announce that the AoS realms exist within the warp rift which now spans the 40K galaxy.

  • Trapped on the wrong side of the galaxy-spanning warp rift, the Blood Angels will turn to Chaos.

  • GW will release new Primaris Legion of the Damned marines. They will be undeniably cool, twice the price of ordinary Primaris marines and their rules will only be available in an obscure ebook format nobody uses.

  • Games Workshop will build on the success of their kid-friendly book line by writing more of them.

  • Whoa. Realm of Sigmar is actually the Great Rift?! That is officially my head canon from now on.
