I want to share with you some thoughts on the latest issues regarding communications about Infinity N4.

I’d like to clarify that our intention is to make a single launch of N4, with all the available factions and sectorials included from day one. But I’d also like to remind you that ours is a small company whose resources are limited, which means that, in case we don’t get to the deadline in time -either because the game development team couldn’t change and test all profiles in time or because the IT team (external and internal) didn’t manage to have the Army in time-, we would work on an action plan and a schedule to upload the profiles in a scaled way. All these movements would be made public, of course. It’s crucial for us that the profiles are not only available from day one, but that they also meet the quality that all of you, our community, deserve.

I’m confirming that the factions and sectorials currently not for sale (discontinued these past years) will not be available in Infinity N4 on day 1, they will be added gradually during 2020 (we will provide a schedule) and will be visually distinguished from those factions/sectorials that do have products for sale. The idea is that a new player doesn’t get confused by having product profiles that can’t be found in the market.

Why not including them on the first day?

Basically, we don’t have the resources to change all those profiles and upload them to Army. Once again, our resources are limited L

I wanted to make this statement in first person because I’d like to convey that behind the screen there’s us, Corvus Belli’s workers, who come to the office every day hoping to give our best, that if something characterizes us is our closeness to you, we’ve always been there answering your questions, being transparent and meeting your expectations. Of course, we make mistakes from time to time, but we put all our passion into everything we do. We have a single goal: making Infinity sustainable, that it may grow, and that all of us may find our place in the hobby. In short, we enjoy our passion.

Thank you so much for your comprehension, let’s continue enjoying our hobby, and let’s get crazy with Operation Kaldstorm.

Seems fine with me.

My preference for the roll out is:

1) Everything all at once
2) All current factions -> discontinued factions
3) Vanilla factions -> sectorials
4) Vanilla factions -> current sectorials -> discontinued factions
5) Vanilla factions -> year long roll out of all sectorials one or two at a time.
6) Vanilla factions -> year long roll out of all current sectorials one or two at a time -> (eventually) discontinued factions

So I am super happy they went with option 2!

I also think not including the retired/discontinued factions in the initial roll out will likely lead to a better, more well tested game from day 1 (since they are removing 3+ factions from the initial playtest).

I'm certain that we will see all the factions at the start, so that vanilla army lists for any faction are possible. Honestly, there are too many sectorials these days, with the NA2 explosion, 7 sectorials. Well, 6 if you consider the Spiral Corps is essentially the Tohaa. Adding them in may make it easier on everyone. I always thought it best to learn to play vanilla lists before trying sectorials anyway.
Just make certain the units in the delayed sectorials are playable in vanilla, like they are now.

Also, Adepticon, will it cancel due to the CoVid-19 pandemic?

What's the current list of discontinued factions and sectorials (and which are which?)?

Off the top of my head, Aconticimento and soon to be Neoterra for PanO, Merovingia for Ariadna, Qapu Khalqi for Haqqislam, and Tohaa (some of which are still around in Spiral Corps).

I think it's completely fine especially since they're setting expectations. That's the most important thing.

Hard to believe that the Tohaa are going away so quickly.

I guess people really, really don't like broccoli?

I just wish they kept around legacy profiles for the defunct units and sectorials. Like, what are people supposed to do if, say, they built a full SAA army? Just throw them away and reinvest in a whole new faction?

The profiles are still there for all the sectorials who have been discontinued. They’re still perfectly playable until the end of N3. They won’t be in N4 from the start, but they’ll be rolled out with N4 rules.

Artichokes, not broccoli. They're still around in the Spiral Corps sectorial at any rate, so all is not lost for those benighted souls who like tat particularly vile vegetable.

I think that at this point, we are going to have to wait for a long time to hear which sectorials are going to be delayed, apart from the ones we already know.

We get the Kaldstrom video tomorrow. That'll be nice. Maybe some news about Code One too.

They are doing exactly that. Nothing has gone away and nothing is going away forever, except for those very select few individual models when N2 to N3 hit (like the original YJ Ko-Dali and the 3 Exrah for CA like the Caskuda that Alpharius won't shut up about). When CB discontinued models for a sectorial in N3 they actually gave them an update in the rules for N3 so everything is currently fully supported by the rules still. And CB have said they're keeping the N3 armybuilder up for people to still use if they want to stay with N3, it will be a separate armybuilder from N4.

As for the discontinued sectorials moving forward to N4, they are getting rules by the end of the year but not at the initial launch of N4, CB is concentrating on playtesting currently produced models and the new stuff coming out, then they'll update the discontinued profiles & sectorials to N4. That may mean you have some models even in vanilla that don't have rules for the first few months of N4, but after that they'll still be fully playable and legal for the new edition

I don't think Tohaa were ever particularly popular outside of the fact that they were pretty far above the curve power wise and CB never seemed like they could quite make them work the way they wanted.

Ah good, so they are going to ave legacy rules for discontinued factions. Good, no need to bed wet about completely losing the ability to use my Neoterrans. I probably should buy that Uhlan/Tikbalang box before they're kaput as well.

The new teaser, for any who are interested

Adepticon is cancelled, so no Bostria seminar. I'm hoping for a nice video of what he planned to present, along with the Kaldstrom reveal we get tomorrow.

What?!?

I haven't mentioned (the beloved) Caskuda in...a long time.

However, it has clearly made an impression on...some people...and if that is part of my legacy?

SO BE IT!!!

Oh geez, now you're just winding him up.

The Caskuda was a Combined Army Tag. Caskuda, or cascuda, is Galician for cockroach, BTW.

Here is its profile:

It was a tragically underappreciated model for the Combined Army that had an absolutely fantastic way of arriving to the battle - and then was a good T.A.G. equivalent after that.

With a good paint-job, it was a really nice looking alien model.

Yes, CB has confirmed those are 3d renders and the set will be metal.

Edit: Caskuda Forever!

3D renders the set is indeed metal.

Caskuda was a great but vastly underappreciated model.

From Mayacast - White Banner and Svalarheima will both be in N3, even though they are "N4 factions".

Yes. Very nice. 10/10 will have fun with.

Well, there's the female knight that some have been agitating for. CB gave the mini combat heels.

The Knights look as boring and uninspired as I sadly expected.

Shame they caved to the whining about "wE nEeD FeMaLe kNiGhTs!!!", since it was supposed to be a big difference between the Observance and the Church and it didn't prevent female models in the Sectorial thanks to the Crusader Brethren(they're not Knights) and the Order Sergeants(again, not Knights) and it dilutes further what made Joan of Arc so special in the faction.

Meh, if your fluff depends on a "women can't be" trope; its probably time to get some better fluff.

Love the look of ll these models. Who knew putting coats on armor would look so cool!

Any idea what other models will be in these two sectorials?

By that same vein, maybe we should ditch the Observancy since it's the "men can't be" trope?
