When I try to focus on details my vision just goes blurry, I went to the optician a few months ago and got glasses which sorted my headaches but I still struggle with faces etc. I'm wondering if a good magnifier lamp will help? If so please recommend a good one that you use.

Don't know about magnifier lamps, but I recently bought something similar like this, because age & eyes...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fancii-Illuminated-Hands-Magnifier-Visor/dp/B01AL2YAQ6
Very happy with it.

You can get a helping hand/ magnifier thing really cheap off ebay. (£5 or so)
I personally don't like it, the magnification makes hand eye co-ordination tricky as it really messes with your brain.
I suppose I'd need more practice than I'm willing to put in for it to be really beneficial. I've found holding stuff closer to me face works much better

I just use reading glasses, picked up from the local Drug Store.
Works great and much easier to use than a magnifier.
My two cents,

For me are essential, I use them all the time. I paint a lot of Infinity minis which are true scale with lots of really small details and I can't paint without them.
It helps a ton and when you get used to them are like second eyes.
I use these, cheap and do the job perfectly.

Look into Optivisors. They mount on your head so the focal length remains constant and you just have to move the mini instead of moving your head and the mini to keep things in focus.
These are what jewelers use. I made custom jewelry for a long time and they were invaluable for setting 2mm diamonds (and painting eyes)...

I've got a magnifier lamp and really couldn't paint without it - it's a Lumeno 7213. Couldn't find an English language info website for these as it's a German company but they are available on amazon etc. I think.

My wife brought me a desk magnifying glass a few years ago. I should really use it more. Don't want my rejuvenat eyes wearing out too soon!

Cheap 3x magnifying reading glasses from the drug store and a rather bright desk light to amp up the signal works very well. The binocular vision afforded by the reading glasses is a big help.

Another vote for cheap reading glasses and a bright lamp here. It'll save your eyballs from gnarly fatigue.

I use a brighttech lamp/magnifier. Would I have bought it myself? Maybe not. Does it help? Definitely. I was cleaning mold lines without it at the kitchen table while helping my son with his homework, and could tell the difference. My old eyes had trouble seeing the details, I had to strain, the light wasn’t as good, etc. And that’s just fo rough and easy work, nothing as focused as painting details.
Now painting with a mag/lamp does take getting used to. I still bonk the back of my brushes against it. I also have been known to keep it too close to my face and fog up the lens with my breath.
But I don’t think I could go back to painting unaugmented.

I ended up getting a 2.5x and 3x pair of reading glasses and the difference is mind blowing, I can see details which were just blurs before, the best £3 I've spent on this hobby.

+5 reading glasses and an LED head torch work absolute wonders for shadowed details.
