On my return to 40k, I have now nearly painted up 1100 points of AM and 1100 of Eldar. I am going to Add a wraithknight to the eldar and a Knight to the AM, making 1500(plus a bit) armies to fight a friend...the 2 knights being the centre pieces of the armies.

The Eldar Knight is easy....but I am lost as to what Imp Knight to add. Im not going to buy the Knights codex for 1 model...but can anyone advise me on what knight to buy to bulk up from tyhe 1100 to the 1500(can be more than that..its no real competitive fight). So many combos..Errant, Canix Rex, Crusaders...im a bit lost on hat to buy.

Any advice welcome.

buy the canix kit, it will have all the options for the regular knight size, magnetize the elbows.

Exactly what big mac said, I would also magnetize the hip joint as well, makes transporting it a hell of a lot easier.

Blood for the bloo... wait no, I meant for Sanguinius!

Thanks folks.

Will order a Canix kit and then work out what to build.

Gathering the Informations.

Just so you're aware, the kit is called "Knight-Preceptor Canis Rex".

It's the most recent Imperial Knight kit and builds all of the Knight variants, including a Knight Preceptor(which buffs Armigers).

Perhaps also worth pointing out that the Wraithknight is generally considered...uh... not good. Lack of an invuln save really hurts it.

As others have stated, the Canis Rex Kit and then magnetize the weapons and the hip joint. This magnet kit from the Magnet Baron will give you all the magnets you need:

Its only very causal friendly games between two friends who have a long history of 40k going back a long time but not played for a decade etc...just two big centerpeice models. Surprising though, I will be playing the Eldar....you would think the big graceful Eldar Knight would have something to save it from tanks.

There's at least one thread in Proposed Rules talking about why (basically: very similar statlines but the Imperial Knight has an Invulnerable save and two strong arm weapons, Wraithknight gets either two mediocre arm weapons or one mediocre arm weapon and an Invulnerable save, and on top of that the Knight has a book of Warlord Traits/stratagems/relics/Household traits and the Wraithknight has very little out-of-datasheet content). I'd suggest skipping most of the Knights Codex extra stuff right off the bat, and if you find the Wraithknight still unimpressive you could adopt some of the suggestions from https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/781744.page. (I obviously like my suggestions best but there are plenty of alternate possibilities in that thread.)

The wraithknight gets a 5+ invul if you take a scattershield.

Yeah, you can give it a Suncannon and Scattershield but then it's not much of match for a shooty knight. The Skathach Wraithknight (Forge World) has better options but is more expensive.
