Painted this up for a friend of mine. Really enjoyed the model, despite it being resin. The parts were crisp and clean and painted really well.

I hope to get some sisters in the future to paint up. The models look so very awesome and after painting one up, I would enjoy painting more of them in the future.

So, without further ado:

Thanks for looking, and awesome thread also. Really enjoying seeing the sisters projects here.

Take it easy.

That purple-and-white looks good. Stands out from the black/red/white combos if the official orders, but still feels like Sisters of Battle.

I agree! My buddy initially wanted a different color combo (a teal green and purple instead of red and purple with white armor) but we talked and settled on the purple and red instead. Really pops nicely with the white power armor and gold accents I think. He was also insistent on her being a red head.

I really enjoyed the challenge of this mini. White is not easy, though contrast makes it a little less difficult. He was very pleased with the results thankfully.

Take it easy.

Viterbi beat me to it, but ever since the contrast paints came out, I've loved the way they look over metallics. I love the turquoise contrast paint and could not wait to try it on sisters. I have a small force from back in 2003-4 when they were done with witch hunters, and I've picked up one box of the new sisters. Now that my wife has a full time gig again, reinforcements will be in bound shortly!

the colors are outstanding on that mini - really dig the white armor and contrast against the gold and purple tabard/loincloth or whatever its called

What brand purple is that you are using?

-that teal/white combo is also really great - I like these differences from the standard black/white/red

I used Citadel Paints. I believe it's Xereus Purple in two thin coats, followed by a heavy Druchii Violet Shade and highlighted with more Xereus Purple and then a highlight of Screamer Pink over top of the Xereus Purple.

Hope that helps.

Nice start and yeah, the contrasts over metal are to good to miss. I actually tested a few (a poor deathwatch veteran got sprinkled with a whole rainbow with red, black, yellow etc.), but turquoise was my instant favorite. I just regret that the paints came out after I started painting my space marines, because their armor needs a lot more work.

Love the tabard, painting that's a really hard color to get right.

I'm planning on continuing to paint my primed sisters in April atm WarCry is blocking my painting table.

That Canoness Veridyan casting has never turned out 100% for me sadly, on I think 3 occasions now. She's such a great model but why oh why didn't they do her in plastic?
Anyway, nice job

Well, I haven't got much done on the army but I did just polish off Junith for my store (All brush painted too, no airbrush trickery as it stopped working right).
Another great mini but I was disappointed the writing wasn't sculpted on - but what can you do?

Spoiler:

Next up to finish the damned Triumph

Thank you for that! Yea I was super pleased that the cast was so nice. It's been one of the only GW resin casts I've seen with no flaws outside of general mold lines.

If you're only going to paint one Sister, you both chose an awesome one, and did a great job to boot. youwashock, is that a stock Sisters head from one of the new boxes? I love it!

Big props on the bold color schemes, too... both the purple/white and the metallic turquoise.

Nice to see Junith getting on the table... good choice on the head swap too!

Thanks, MacPhail. It is the head from an ETB Stormcast. I sculpted the cable you can see in this shot and she has a port on the left side behind her ear. The combi-melta is from the Sternguard kit.

Is anyone working on a Sacred Rose force? I could really use some painted examples to eyeball but everyone's sticking to the same Martyred Lady/Valorous Heart/Bloody Rose schemes.

I've painted a lot of white Sisters armor, but messing around with White Scars is what led me to Contrast. Apothecary White might be worth a look... there's a squad of fresh tactical marine in my blog if you want to have a look, but it's not over the GW primer. If it's close to what you're looking for its an easy way to paint white.

Great progress on these armies, everyone! I see vehicles, Imagifiers, some good sized armies, and an awesome array of paint schemes. Very cool to see everyone's development.

Here's my latest: converting army box Seraphim into Zephyrim, starting with the pennant.

Finished my first Exorcist last night. Still have two more to do, but it was enough of a chore that I'll probably paint other things a bit before I come back to them.

That is a good idea. I am doing the same conversion using Grey Knight parts and have to remove all the power hands.

First test sister done.
Apothecary white over grey seer, with minimal codex white edges. Trying to keep the edges down to a minimum (aka not every armor edge) so I can actually get them done in a reasonable amount of time. Sent this pic in for feedback from my friend who’s army it is. Thoughts from the forum?

BrianDavion, Asmodai, great Exorcists! The two different schemes reveal how much detail the kit has, especially the gold-on-blue.

AzureDeath, another great color scheme! The two colors are close enough to lack contrast, except that you've preserved two very different finishes that set them apart nicely.

Nevelon, she's looking pretty good. The brushwork is as good as ever, and I love the brown you've worked up for pouches and hoslters. On the armor itself. I was thinking it looked a little washed out (I've done this by "picking up" too much of the pooling Contrast paint with my brush rather than letting it really collect in the detail of the model), but when I clicked through to the high rez versions I could see the relief of the armor better. The gold trim looks a little thin in spots... is that built up on Retributor Armor? The purity seals look great, as do the lenses. I think your friend will be pleased!

The brown and gold are Mounfang Brown and and old pot of Shining Gold, both hit with a thin glaze of Darkoath flesh. Nothing more than that. Purity seal is the same contrast over Zandri Dust for the parchment, and BftBG over Khorn Red for the wax. Lenses are Waystone Green over and old pot of Glistening Green.

I’m still getting the hang of using the contrast paints as intended. I’ve mostly been using them as a substitute for old inks as glazes. Actually using them to do the one step highlight/shade bit is going to take some practice for how much to use, how to let it pool, etc. I was thinking of trying the Apothecary White as a pin wash, and just dotting it on the rivets, thin lines down the seems, etc. and see how that looks. But that might be too much work. Still figuring this out.

A Protoss colony world

I finished these girls a while ago but I never got around to sharing them in here. My only completely painted unit of Sisters (so far):

Not the cleanest of paintjobs, but for basic troops I feel like they are adequate. I think in the future I'm going to dilute the Shyish Purple contrast paint that I used for the cloth; in these pics it almost looks black rather than purple. Unfortunately I've already finished the cloth portions of the Repentia and their Superior from the box set, so it'll be the next unit that will get the new formula for the purple. Of course, if it's not me putting too much paint on and something else I'm doing wrong please chime in and tell me.

I'm happy with the Iyanden Yellow for the armor; it came out exactly how I wanted it. No way in hell I'd try to do yellow any other way!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Current WIP. Still need to finish the Bolter, hair, leather, and the base. There's a lot of detail on these gals and the scheme was fairly complicated because of it. Not sure I want a full army, but I still think it looks good, may just paint what I have and do a Kill Team.

Wales: Where the Men are Men and the sheep are Scared.

Loving the work here so far. It's helping inspire me to get my sisters box done.

Started with the Arco Flagellants that are far from done. Trying to make their artificial limbs a little more ornate with the brass detailing to give the idea that the weapons are valued even if the hosts are not. Also didnt want two poses to be identical so replaced a whip with a chainsword arm.

Want to work my way up to repentas then the penitent engine and then battle sisters sisters as I figure the cleaner look of the sisters will be more difficult to achieve than the lower level cannon fodder.
