How do?
Slightly silly but hopefully entertaining and possibly informative thread!
As the title suggests, this is two fold.
First, a Dakkanaut Pitches A Movie to their fellow Dakkanauts.
Others then chime in with suggestions of where that concept has already been done.
However, there is an etiquette in play. Nothing too heavy though.
Basically, no ripping into the idea or the poster. That’s just rude. Don’t like a pitch? Don’t post.
Other than that, pretty much anything goes. Be as serious as you want to be, or be as daft as you want to be. I only ask that peeps try to be as original as is possible. So ideally, no deliberate repetition off an idea you once saw elsewhere (well, not without citing it and giving due credit).
With any luck, this’ll be a fun thread free of stress and that.

The film follows 10 members of an imperial guard regiment, from planet fall to the bitter end. Tell the stories of each guardsmen in the squad, really make them stand out. Think "Saving Private Ryan" but guard style. End the film with the whole squad getting wiped, show the brutality and the gruesomeness of warfare in the 41st M.
The movie ends with a new squad deploying to the planet, to fill the void left by the previous squad showing the never ending cycle.

Basically a film version of 15 hours by Black Library. i would watch it.....
Pitch 1
A standard Rocky style underdog movie only with set int he world of competitive historical wargaming. A young up an coming champion with a troubled past meets and old master that guides him along to victory as they overcome a douchy, entitled antagonist. The wargame scenes would be montages of moving models, dice, measuring all intercut with "historical recreation" battle footage. That way we can have some explosions, a "training" montage, and even wedge in a love interest that "believes" n the young up and comer, but is also sought after by the Douche champion character. It would also be played completely straight without any irony or sarcasm.
Pitch 2
Use the template for a standard sword-and-sandals Gladiator flick. However, instead of Gladiators in Ancient Rome it would be white-collar middle management wage slaves set in "modern" times. Arena battles would be clashes in meeting rooms with verbal barbs, Negs, Barbs, and PowerPoints as the weapons. They would be intercut with scenes of Gladiator combat to drive the point across that this was a brutal business. It would culminate with the Hero eventually being "Freed" by his patron in the form of being raised up to the C-Suite, but then realizes that there is no freedom there, only better competitors. He ends by throwing himself out a window and to his death after victory in a C-level meeting as the only way to "beat" the system of oppression he is trapped in. Like any good gladiator movie, it needs a close friend that is "sacrificed" in the arena, political machinations above our "Heroes" level, and byzantine business-political battles as part of a convoluted plot to gain control of the company that is ultimately irrelevant.

A western starring characters from Silverado, Big Jake, Magnificent Seven, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Story involves them all arriving at the same territory by happenstance, as a Native American shaman curses the populace of the town for the death of his child. The cemeteries begin to show movement as the dead rise, hungry for the flesh of the living. As townfolk fall left and right, the collected gunslingers must focus on escaping with their lives.
Bonus points if we can get a scene with a Gatling gun across a crowd of zombies.

What about an Old West Expanded Universe? Get the guys from Cowboys vs Aliens in there and you should be good to go.

I have this vision of an all-Eastwood teamup between The Man with No Name, the drifter, the preacher, Josey Wales and William Munny.

Ryan Reynolds plays a mentally disturbed guy with a terminal illness who is quietly unhappy with all of the politically correct BS, everybody gets a medal, social justice warriors, disregard for gender specific bathrooms and eventually can’t take it anymore: he goes on a murder rampage at a My Little Pony/Furry Convention where he guns everybody down in a sea of blood.
....I’ve just been informed they’ve already started filming Deadpool 3. Disregard this idea.

An accident at CERN causes reality and fantasy to blue.
Humanity reels, finding tanks are a poor match for Dragons and Eldritch Horrors.
Only nerds have any kind of idea how to best fight back. Because they’ve been leading this life since they first played an RPG. But they’re not enough sending muscle Mary’s to their doom as revenge for the High School years.
The title?
The Geek Shall Inherit The Earth.
