Nope, there will be special rules like dynamic terrain or another descriptive, fancy word. In essence the models will stay put more or less in the middle of the board and you move the terrain pieces around to create the illusion of momentum. Like in a...video game.

I’m not sure on that at all.

I suspect some missions will. And if not I’ll invent some of my own.

But the only board setup we’ve seen so far

Looks exactly as static as every other Necromunda setup.

It looks fantastic and expensive. I’ll probably stick to admiring this from a distance.

How much do you expect it to cost?

Ballparking it at around $100USD or so?

I'm expecting it to have containers as well.

As I called it, it's just a sprue of wheels.

The model looks really cool. Actually all of these models so far look really good. To bad I really can't get into another game right now. It would be cool though if they made some rules to use all this necromunda stuff in 40k with like Imperial Militia, Chaos Cultists, and Genstealer Cults being able to field some of this. I would be tempted to get some of these models if I could use them as a Chaos Cultist army.

I quite like it,

but i worry about what you'll actually get: do you get the cab & a chassis only,

or do you get a container to act as a body for the cab and/or a second chassis to act as a trailer

could work out more expensive than expected (even at GW prices) if it's the former

I'm a bit concerned about price as well tbh. Not actually started with Necromunda but Ash Wastes was always going to be tempting, this kit and the fleas are just too much to resist though! Are there any dual kit or large dual kit centrepiece models for Necromunda already? Given the size of the model as it is I'm also really hoping Nottingham's finest will want to show off and at least provide some options to pick and choose from, e.g an armored cabin, plow and winches, spare tyres, tools, hoses, ladders, harpoons and, if GW are feeling generous perhaps something akin to a crane or generator... or something sizable to feature on the bed instead of just the container(s)?

Model looks fun and easily customizable as it is though, no complaints though I do think it'd benefit immensley from a slightly different (better) paintjob as well.

Also another rules nugget. The crew are hired from the Guild of Coin - so can we assume we can’t crew them with our Gang, instead we’ll get at least the ones we’ve seen the Orlocks riding, but with gang specific crew, and possibly Gang Specific vehicles to nip around in.

It's another sign of crew being purely ornamental bitz whose abilities are just integrated into the vehicle's statline and don't otherwise take part in the game.

I was referring to the upcoming "Big Rig Chase" scenario we all know and love from the Mad Max franchise. Assaulting a fortress, camp, hideout, etc. will of course use the vintage, static terrain. It´s simply impossible to have a long chase with static terrain. Are the vehicles supposed to drive around in circles? This will hopefully not be modern 40K in which vehicles behave the same like grots with the ability to turn on the spot in order to change direction.

Well, further speculation, and only speculation? Given a truck upgrade is All Wheel Steering? Perhaps we can imply that allows your rig to move side to side, so without we’ll perhaps have turning templates/movement restriction?

No Guilder worth their coin is going to allow grubby hired guns from some lowlife gang INSIDE their vehicles.

I like that this is a vehicle for hire with a neutral crew. I wouldn’t want Necromunda to get bogged down in releasing unique vehicles for each Underhive Gang. I’d much rather see new factions that live in the Ash Wastes.

GW didn´t want to release miniatures for each faction that could also pilot the Big Rig. Perhaps Forge World will provide such sprues in a year or two. However hobbyists will definitely make this Big Rig their own by doing House-specific conversions.

Interesting that the trailers only have three sets of wheels, instead of four - wonder if the set that is missing would work on a Taurox to replace the front set of tracks, like the Victoria's Miniatures conversion kit...

I like the Ash Wastes stuff but GW´s silly prices and foreseeable obnoxious book release routine will probably stop me from plunging in. So what to do?

Just take a look back at the 90s when people were doing 40k campaigns in two scales. One would be set in Epic and the other in 40K 2nd. I will do the same approach to Ash Wastes. Necromunda ganger models will be used for action on foot and Hot Wheels or other suitable models will be used in conjunction with Car Wars rules from 1989. Those Car Wars rules are even suitable to transfer ganger stats into GURPS RPG stats, if you want to take it to the next level.

I hope it comes without the containers, I have plenty of those already.

And yes, this is going to be excellent terrain for regular 40K tables as well, and will suit my Octarius Ork terrain for Killteam perfectly. I will definitely build it with all the crew detachable.

It's gonna be very intriguing to see how much it actually ends up being.

From the looks of things, it's two sprues that build the basic flat-bed body+wheels, with an option to add the cab. I'm guessing it will include two containers as well, so that you get goodies to put on the flat-beds themselves.

$100USD is my low-side guess with this all said. I'm putting a lower value on it since the containers would be a "necessary item" for the crew figures to utilize on the pintle mounts, and it looks like an item they'll want repeat sales of.

Hot take: I don't like it.

Don't like the fully exposed crew compartment in a supposedly extremely hostile environment
Don't like that there are so many huge guns
Don't like the generic mooks crewing it
Don't like that the gunners are literally inside the cargo
Don't like the giant fleas attacking it
Bleh.

+1 on the fleas. They are a cool and original design from GW, finally expanding with some more exotic fauna.

Otherwise, the critique of the land train is very valid
