Look I would have loved a bit more communication, but I think the entire world could benefit from a bit of a break man. Let's all just kinda...ease up on each other. If you need to refund, fine. I'm stoked to end up with some great bases at some point. Not like I finish any project ever anyway.

What updates there are sound like slow progression, but progression nevertheless. I was stoked with their dungeon tiles. Stimulus just hit my bank so I finally closed out the PM, admittedly not adding much but I’m excited for the cobblestone bases for my Wolsung and Twisted stuff.

Hello backers!

First, let me address the radio silence that I know is unsettling for a Kickstarter campaign. You have my apologies for that. Secret Weapon is still running with a skeleton crew of just three employees (not counting me), and we're all having to work multiple jobs in order to keep the orders moving. To say that we've been overwhelmed over the past year is a serious understatement. With my son home for distance learning, with special needs, my days are booked solid with him, and my nights are booked solid with day-to-day needs, and everything is a crisis.

BUT! I have tasked Kevin with daily comment management, and we will move forward with weekly updates...

BECAUSE the ship is in port! Of course so are hundreds of other ships, all sitting off of the coast of San Diego waiting to unload. As far as we know that the tools are there, but we have no current estimate of when the ship will get to dock. Once it does the tools will make their way to Reaper in Texas, and samples will be shipped to us toot sweet. With samples in hand the last of the supply issues should be past us and we will do some test prints, and assuming everything works (and it should) we will be in position to begin manufacturing.

With Kevin on board to help (that employee #4 and our first remote employee), we will also get the missing items into the Pledge Manager, and release the next wave.

I wish that we had a more solid timeline for release... but we have no idea what's happening at the Port of San Diego. It's a mess. As soon as we know ANYTHING you will get an update though. Of course you'll get an update every week even if it's just to let you know that there's no new information.

The only thing I'm upset over is the lack of communication/updates, so if we actually do get regular updates even if they are "still waiting on boats, nothing to report" that would be fine. I always figured on massive delays for this one since it launched right at the outset of Covid, and specifically didn't plan any projects around having them in-hand because of that.

As for samples, we may be waiting a while. My auto body shop has had some Kia parts on backorder for over a month, and the last 3 weeks my Kia vendor has told me the parts are here, but they're just sitting in a container at the docks waiting to be unloaded. A lot of industries are in the same boat (pun intended). At least they're here waiting in queue to unload, there's a massive container shortage causing delays for ships being loaded in China that's affecting a lot of other kickstarters (and a lot of non-kickstarters)

Obviously the pandemic made things crazy, but that's true of all campaigns... no excuse for the lack of communication. Wishing the best for Secret Weapon and the project, despite that. It's a brilliant idea, Tom's designs are breathtaking, and I hope it can be profitable for them in the future.

It really doesn't take more than a few minutes to post up a very brief "There's no communication this week unfortunately, we're still waiting on X and Y" update. And even that's more welcome than radio silence.

I didn't back this Secret Weapon kickstarter, but I want to point to Dave Taylor/the Terrain Tutor's kickstarter for the Terrain Essentials book written by Mel. That campaign went through a lot, including health issues for Mel and a variety of other problems, and Dave really did a decent job keeping all the backers updated for the most part.

Even with a super busy schedule and being down a ton of employees should, in theory, not keep you from posting the most basic of updates on a Kickstarter campaign.

Yeah I'm still content to wait. I'm going to use these bases for Tau, but that project is still on hold until I finish my current stuff, plus I now want to wait until the new codex comes out since I have no idea what I even want for the army anymore.

the bases are lovely, but the model look standing on pictures, because the bases are flat.
