At first it looked like I could resist to buy any of the new SoB models, but when the Triumph of St. Katherine was previewed, my resistence was gone. As I am strictly a painter and not a gamer that is one of those models which I just had to tackle.

I plan on doing some other SoB models as well that is why first I had to try out a color scheme I would continue with. It was not really necessary but I wanted to paint a "simple" sister first before moving on to the big one.

This is what I came up with ... basically a metal armor using leadbelcher, Nuln Oil, Ironbreaker. the cloak is dryad bark, agrax earthshade, gorthor brown, baneblade brown on the inside and Mephiston red, carroburg crimson, evil sunz scaret and wild rider red on the outside. The symbols for the order a the fleur-de-Lys and the Black Templar cross.

Ok, so after this I immediately continued with the Triumph of St. Katherine and started with the base. Normally (e.g. for all Primarch bases) I use the the drybrush technique to get a base finished pretty quickly, but this was not an option for me - especially with the intricate middle part of the base. I ended painting/highlighting the mosaique and every single fleur-de-lyse individually. I thought I would get a stroke at some point but in the end I survived and I am happy with the result. The grey is basically Dawnstone, Agrax Earthshade, Dawnstone drybrush, Dawnstone edge highlighting and then further highlights with Administratum Grey and Ulthuan Grey.

Then I continued with the floating sarcophagus or stretcher ... whatever you wanna call it. I painted it in black and gold just like GW did. For the dead body of St. Katherine I picked gold armor (retributor armor, Reikland fleshshade, Liberator Gold, Stormhost Silver). The cloak/clothes I did with Dryad Bark (same technqiue as first SoB model above). I really like the contrast of the cloak and the red fabric of the "bed".

Cherubim are not my cup of tea tbh. I hate painting larger surfaces of flesh and painting white wings (without drybrushing) is also not that easy. I have finished three Cherubim, two of them are already in this picture:

That is the status quo right now. I have already started painting the sister who represents the Order of the Bloody Rose.

Jawdropping stuff thus far, that base is exceptional. Love the different coloured mosaic on the fleur de lys floor. Cannot wait to see the work on the individual Sisters to be added to the base.

Dang but that base is amazing! Also everything else. The creepy babies might have been a pain but they came out well

The third Cherubim is finished. Clearly my favorite one of the three as I love painting larger scrolls and combining them with some transfers ...

A little progress over the weekend ... Sister Mina holding her Rose Pizza.

I do not magnetise anything, but I will prepare separate bases for all six sisters just to be able to show them off individually.

That... really is a rose pizza isn't it?

The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

That scenic base is beautiful, and I love pizza delivery sister. Her cloak, especially.

But... if you ever get hold of a 28mm pizza delivery motoped, you simply have to make a diorama with her standing at the door to some Imperial Stronghold, with the motoped parked in the background.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Wow, base looks fantastic, and whilst those Cherubim are a pain in the proverbial, they look great too.

Really excited to see this progress further and I am sure the finished result will look truly awesome!

Baron, don't forget to talk about the SEALs and Marines you habitually beat up on 2 and 3 at a time, as you PM'd me about.

Progress is slwoing down a bit as I painted some ASOIAF stuff in between ... but here is Sister Silvana without the banner ... just to show off the shiny backpack.

Beautiful work mate. Colour scheme is great with the metallic armour and the attention to detail is mindblowing. It's gonna look fantastic all together!
