How do?
As rumoured a while back, and if memory serves denied by the man himself? Taiki Waititi confirmed to be signed on to direct a Star Wars Movie.
As you may know, Disney still have dates set aside in 2022, 2024 and 2026. But which might be his? Your guess is as good as mine.
Thoughts on what you might like to see from him? I’m kinda hoping for a Hondo Ohnaka type shenanigans.

I hope he pulls another Ragnarok out of his ass and does something entirely out of left field. No connection to the Skywalker saga whatsoever, just... entirely brand new set of heroes, in a corner of the galaxy we've never seen before, preferably no Jedi for a change, just a fun space adventure that doesn't feel like it's racing from one set piece to the next like the JJ films.

Not necessarily. Yes comedy is his hallmark, and he’s dammed good at it. But don’t forget he directed the finale of The Mando.
Dude can play it straight when needed it would seem.

Once again, just some director's name being dropped but nothing about Star Wars itself.
It joins the cue of two trilogies and a whole load of tv shows that we know little about besides "that guy from Rogue One" and maybe an Obi-Wan film...no wait, a TV show...ah, we're not sure...but we are 70% sure we're doing something to cater to a female audience!
Glad to see Disney has learned their lesson from Solo and the Sequel trilogy and no longer flogging the horse to death...

Even if it’s the very next cinematic release, it’d be the 12th Star Wars movie (14th if like me you count The Ewok movies)
Other sources such as Den of Geek and Empire don’t suggest it’s Episode X. And hey, it’s Sky ‘we’re pretty much owned by Rupert Murdoch’ News, so is a dubious source

Having Waititi involved makes me more interested, but after Ep's 7 and 8, I just have zero desire or interest in Star Wars movies (the inner 12 year old that was obsessed with Star Wars was strangled by those two films quite brutally) and I still haven't seen Ep 9 and haven't felt any particular desire to torrent it. I thought the Mandalorian was pretty well done so it gives me hope that this might be better, but I'll probably wait until it's out for DL/streaming to catch it either way.

Honestly, I hated episode 8 the first time I watched it, second time was better, third time was fine, and i followed it with episode 9 today. Loved Rise of Skywalker. Give it a shot, don’t try to pick it apart, and you should enjoy it. I went in knowing the BIG stuff of the movie, and I still enjoyed every minute of it (except the awkwardly unnecessary kiss at the end, which is the “nooooooo!” of the movie).

rumor has it once Kennedy's contract runs out (January IIRC) she's going to be replaced by Favreau and Filoni.

First time I thought 8 was fine, a little uneven. Second time I didn't like it. Haven't been able to watch more than 8 minutes of it since.
So by that metric I will hate 9 as well, should I ever see it.

The problem with Solo was poor marketing, not over-saturation.
More Star Wars is a good thing. Particularly if it's more Star Wars like the Mandalorian.

I dunno, I kinda feel like I'm done with Star Wars as far as movies go. I know Disney wants to recoup their investment, but given the bad blood they've shed with the recent trilogy and their mismanagement in general, I think they need to step back a bit.

Meh, I enjoyed the sequels. I enjoyed Solo (far more than I expected to, based on what I had read about it prior) and Rogue One. They're all very different from each other, but that's part of what I like about them... I feel if they had stuck to a single formula for all of their movies, it really would have gotten tiresome by now.
So it was rather disappointing when they stepped back from the yearly release schedule, although having the various TV series popping up to plug the gap certainly helps...

I'll believe it when it happens. The fact she was able to force the Headland show into production just by leaking a non-announcement shows that either Disney are too terrified of the Culture War twitterati to get rid of her, that she has something on somebody which isn't going to go away when her contract comes up for renewal again, that she still has enough supporters internally to make Lucasfilm difficult to manage if she were to be chucked, that nobody else is willing to take up the poisoned chalice, or some combination of those things.
As to Waititi - ehhh? Not sure what to make of it tbh. My gut feeling is Disney are looking at Star Wars and thinking "hey, Thor 2 kinda flopped right, by MCU standards anyway, that's kinda like what's been happening with SW, maybe we should get that Taika dude in to Ragnarok up the place, that worked great before"...but Star Wars isn't Thor, and honestly I don't think more whackadoodle irreverent humour is what the franchise needs after Yo Momma Poe and practically turning Finn into a racist minstrel show caricature. We've already had snobby intellectual iconoclasm, faintly-smug comedic iconoclasm as well will just feel like a kick in the nads for a lot of fans.
Of course, he might not be intended to do that at all, and Disney might just have been impressed with his work on Mandalorian & decided to give him some bigger toys to play with. They might even see it as a bit of sugar to help the activist medicine go down in light of other announcements, but the issue is there's no actual detail of what they're working on and Waititi himself is unlikely to clarify(hell, he's as likely to troll people as he is to give legit info, that's just who he is), so people who were hoping to see some legit old fashioned(in tone and themes, not a mindless retreat like JJ's stuff) Star Wars at some point aren't actually reassured.
If he's going to be making another Solo or Rogue One? Great, cool, just what the franchise needs IMO. If this is going to be to TLJ as Ragnarok was to Thor...yeah that's going to be the final nail for many.

For sure. Any oneshot movie in my opinion along the lines of 1313, where we get to see a more in-depth scope of the galaxy in SW that isn't one that has been thoroughly explored would be great rather than having to rely on overarching galaxy ending threats. It's the problem the MCU has where every movie kind of has to keep upping the ante at some level before setting up the next galatic big bad. If we can emphasize on how the galaxy is a huge ass place and not everything revolves around Jedi/Sith, that would be ideal.

... this makes me think of all the topics in News and Rumors where small manufacturers proudly show off their latest iteration of the sci-fi 'skintight power armour with panel lines' designs. Something to be proud of, sure, well-made, sure... but somehow lacking in flavour and individuality when you're setting it up beside the 800-pound gorilla.

Clone Wars and Rebels are both acclaimed modern Star Wars material, and both those shows have had characters doing far crazier stuff. It just gets a pass because it's "cartoons", when it is still establishing that such things are possible in the (modern) Star Wars universe.
People freak about horses on Star Destroyers, when Clone Wars gives us AT-TE's dropped onto enemy ships in space to perform a walking assault and then a boarding action. Not to mention all the Mandalorian jet-pack antics.
On the flipside, A Waititi film, if needed to be about established characters, would be GREAT for a Lando-centric movie.
