Heya guys!

Short background before i dive into what it is you’re lookkng at.
So, i’ve never been a fan of the regular Basilisk that GW got. Don’t get me wrong, i love the model! The thing that bothers me is the lack of traverse and elevation for being an artillery piece.. yes yes, i know.. ”you don’t need traverse to aim, you just bring alot of them.” But the thing is. That doesn’t cut it for me. So when the plastic Hydra was released i just knew that one day i just had to bash those two together. And that brings us to the descrption.

So, what you’re looking at is the chassi of a Hydra with the traversable gunplatform and, with a little bit of shaving, cutting and scrathbuilding, the Earthshaker of a Basilisk on the gunmount.
I took inspiration from the German flak 37 and made the canon sit abit more to the back. That in turn made the platform abot crowded, so i decided the use the platform from the hydra too. But to just stick it on there would make it look wierd and too long. So i ended up making it foldable with a moving ladder too.

They can traverse both left and right, don’t know how many degrees but quite alot. they can also depress the gun a little and elevate to point straight up, if you, for some reason wants to imaging that you are AA instead.

The name Wendigo for the pattern comes from the Cryptid the lurks in the woods in north america. It’s said to have the skull of a deer as a head, be very skinny, walks on both all fours and on two legs. It’s also supposed to smell like death and decay. And people who allegedly has seen it sais the everything goes dead quiet before it is seen. So i’m basically following the ’mythology’ theme that GW runs with and thought it sounded good.

These two individuals have been given the names ’Wendigo’ (being the first of it’s class) and ’Duster’. Hope you enjoy!
If you have any questions just feel free to ask. Other than that, C&C is always welcome!

I don't know where that got started(most likely D&D, I know that's how they're described there), but that's not true. Algonquin legend has them with very human heads since Wendigos were once human. It's an affliction/curse that slowly transforms someone who has eaten human flesh. They just look like emaciated humans:

The Wendigo was gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tightly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash-gray of death, and its eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the Wendigo looked like a gaunt skeleton recently disinterred from the grave. What lips it had were tattered and bloody ... Unclean and suffering from suppuration of the flesh, the Wendigo gave off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition, of death and corruption.

History lesson aside, nice conversions!

That is really impressive work! I like the control panels too, some nifty choice of colors there.

Great execution of your idea, both in modelling and paintwork. Really great looking tanks.

Fantastic conversion. Looks like a hybrid of German WWII armour and a basilisk - looks like something Forgeworld would have previously produced
