I think it's safe to say at this point that anything they previously claimed that has anything to do with the app is firmly in the category of "postponed until further notice."

Seriously, ANOTHER Codex: Space Marines? Unless I'm missing something extremely obvious here the last one still works perfectly with 9th Ed., expecially because it was stated explicitly that last years' supplements are still valid. Happy that SW/DW/BA/DA are consolidated into the base book and get supplement status though. But that could also have been done through a FAQ.

From Warhammer Community:

The new Codex: Space Marines will replace the current Space Marine codex, as well as the other First Founding and Deathwatch codexes – making it an invaluable tome that covers all those elements common across the forces of the Space Marines. A literal Codex Astartes.

For fans of the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels and Deathwatch?

If you have one of these armies, good news – not only do you get a shiny new core codex with loads of new toys to play with, but you also have a new codex supplement on the way. You’ll be able to tailor your Space Marines force to fully embody the theme and spirit of their Chapter, and of course, include all their unique units and heroes.

That's why there is a new Codex Space Marines on the way...

As I said, that could also have been done through a FAQ. "Codex: BA/DA/SW/DW is now void, replaced by 8th ed. Codex: SM. Psychic Awakening and chapter tactics still valid. Supplements soonTM."

And the 9-10 new unit entries that are in the new Codex? Do they just get an FAQ to add them in too?

Points were day of launch, Power was a free download coming later.

no they said free to download Power Level Update on Launch

but with all the pre-orders, previews and delays I am not sure if the game officially launched yet or if this was just the Launch Weekend for the Launch Box, while the Game Launch will be later togther with the Starter Box, Army Builder and Power Level update

by what was said about the App, yes they have as the latest rules with all updates are found within the App, everything else is outdated.....

Except as nowhere has been said sub is mandatory to play all official is also in books and errata. Show s65 there

and now, all 3 show something different, which one gets priority?

GW have backed themselves into a real corner here. Either it isn't the official rules so you are paying a monthly sub for something that can't actually be used as the official rules, or it is the official rules and therefore people without a subscription can't play the game with the official rules.

so back to using BattleScribe as main source for rules as everything is in there together and you need the physical books and Errate printouts anyway to back them up and unlike The App, it is free

This is really, really weird.

No, it makes perfect sense as the next phase of the Primaris Project. This is the edition where they start moving the oldmarine choices to the corners of the core book while also making their points values unattractive. 8th edition was the soft boil - 9th edition is when the heat really gets turned up and people are really compelled to replace whatever remnants of their oldmarine armies they were still using.

Heavy intercessors replace tacs and devastators; scouts have already been replaced by phobos. No reason to leave the scouts where people could actually use them.

While I believe old marines are going away (more as self fulfilling prophecy by consumers) this strategy doesn't make sense. They don't have to move scouts at all to accomplish this goal.

So with the new core Dex containing the chapter tactics for SW, DA, BA and DW. I assume that like the other chapters GW intend them to be usable with just the main book, and the supplement adds extra options? Because if the supplement is required why put the tactics in the main book at all?

Does this mean Centurions for everyone? And will the DW be able to run regular SM squads, as otherwise they would have no infantry units without there supplement?

I assume it will be something similar to the index for 8th for SW where a wolf Lord said see Space Marine Captain entry. You will be given a list of units that you can use and the changes. So Grey Hunters will probably use the tactical Marines entry, have a modification that at 10 squad size to replace a second special instead of heavy, points to upgrade your sarge to a battle leader, add an option for chainswords, plasma pistol and banner. I have no idea how they are going to handle Blood Claws or Scouts without an extensive list of changes.

Wrong. The app was originally scheduled to launch on the 11th, with a working army builder. Please stop posting false information.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/06/03/warhammer-40000-matched-play-points-and-an-appgw-homepage-post-1/

On the same day that the Warhammer 40,000 pre-orders go live, a new app will be launched alongside it, providing several cool features to help you, including a full matched play army builder. The new app will do a number of things to assist players with their games, but one of the most useful will be the ability to build army lists using the updated points values and Detachments. We’ll have more on the Warhammer 40,000 app soon, so watch this space!

One could say the same thing to you.

That article you posted doesn't say the app would be live. Just that it will be launched.

This article, from July 9th, was pretty thorough with what to expect.

I could see Blood Claws as an additional unit in the SW supplement. The interesting thing to me is how this new system will address differences in core(troops and HQ) Codex SM units. Sticking with the SW, Grey Hunters could be considered there Tactical squad equivalent. But they do have different options and restrictions. How does that work if SW are playable with just the main SM Dex? Because saying SW cant take non Primaris troops without a supplement would seem like an odd move. Can SW now take regular Tac squads as well as Grey Hunters? Or are there rules an addition to the Tac squad in the SW supplement effectively giving SW Tactical squads+1?

Yes, Heavy Intercessors are Troops. The order of the units in the Troops section goes Intercessors Squad, Assault Intercessors Squad, Heavy Intercessors Squad, Infiltrators Squad, Incursors Squad, Tactical Squad. The next entry is Company Champion and then it goes Scout Squad. One would suspect the Company Champion is Elites, therefore the Scout Squad is now in Elites.

As a non native speaker I see the difference now

So do we have any information when 9th Edition/New 40k is live?
as it is only launched yet I assume we have to wait until it is officially live for everything to be ready

LOL. You cannot be serious. Do you know what an app launch is? Did the app launch on July 11?

No offense intended at all, but is English your native language? Because I have a very hard time believing anyone who speaks English natively could seriously try to claim that "the app will launch on July 11" doesn't mean that the app will be released on July 11. An app launching means an app being released. That's just what the words mean.

It's from 0:25 of their codex reveal video, when the pages are being flipped through. Here's a screencap, but it's obviously quite blurry. The legs definitely seem chonkier though, and again, the gun seems like it packs a bigger punch than the standard intercessor gear..

DA,BA,SW,DW just getting supplements like the other chapters?
I wonder if they will be bigger codex price ones when they come, and the other 6 will get smaller like now ones.

As it’s still a lot to fit into one supplement for them.

Thank you. Yeah, looks like a new model.

I really wish they would just show all the upcoming models. This is driving me crazy.

Also.
What characters are revealed in that video for other factions.
Sisters, Ad Mech, Orks, Dark Eldar.

All the stuff we have seen in the rumour mill.
Just alternate, coloured views.

The first model in that teaser trailer is a death guard model, no doubt. I'm not sold on the Ork being a character though, he seems more like a new kommando or new boy to me.

Oh yeah. I thought there was something else and forgot.
For sure DG, as assumed before.

And yes. Characters, I mean models.
As the DG and Ad Mech it’s hard to tell.
DEldar I think we know for sure who it is

Looks like Gravis style lower legs and possibly a new backpack. But Tacticus for the rest. I wonder if the weapon options will be three flavours of the same gun or something more interesting?

New boys is something that is sorely needed. The current ones are super old and ugly. If they would make them in the style of the AOS Orruks I might consider an Ork army.

More primaris with bigger guns! Just what the 40k fanbase was calling out for! Inceptors, aggressors, eliminators, suppressors, eradicators, hellblasters - not enough! MOAR DOTS!

To me it looks the same than the armour of Eradicators which is just gravis. I think the Heavy Intercessrs are the troop equivalent of Eradicators. It would make me happy if that was the case, as I really like how the Eradicators look and want to get a lot of them, so a cheaper troop version would be perfect (and hopefully less cheesy.)

I'm sort of wondering if the gun they have is just a primaris heavy bolter. That'd fit the bill for heavy intercessors IMO.

And yes, new Ork boyz would be amazing and other than potentially kommandos I don't really see what that model could be. I'm not going to stop using my old models but a healthy mix seem like a decent alternative..
