Agreed. The Canoptek Doomstalker probably won't be able to make a Reanimator (are there any easy to build kits that allow you to make different options?).

Just a quick thing I may have missed, but wasn't GW supposed to update power levels with the App? I heard this somewhere, but cannot verify, and as I have an iPhone, I cannot check for myself.

they were supposed to update them for free on launch with a pdf download, not with the App

Awww, that's probably where I was confused. Would have been nice if they had. Hopefully they will get around to that soon.

The app itself doesn't actually include any power levels at all.

It's ork unit same as gorkanaut. It only becomes terrain when it's set up. Seen nothing that prevents it. And seeing how much orks been hit to head won't raise it to gw's note so they prevent it. I'm happy to give orks some use for it.

And it's not even unfluffy. Tellyporta. Sisters have drop cathedrals in fluff. Tellyporting workshop is minor

There's nothing to prevent putting fortifications in strategic reserves, or from using deepstrike strats to deepstrike them (assuming the strat itself isn't limited to specific categories of units). If you want to tellyporta your mekboy shop in front of the enemy, you can do it. If you want to put it in strategic reserves and then have it magically appear on a table edge on T2 or T3, you can do that too.

Its getting cheaper by the day, I mean managed to skip Indomitus since I just liked the the assault Primaris and Judiciar and now I can skip all 3 starters and just wait for multipart Assault.

If these boxes had different characters like the Judiciar I would be tempted but has it stands and I really cannot stand for those bikes, its easy to dodge this bullet.

Yep. Upside down box lids, dice and measuring strips really do make a difference. Woo, starters!

Terrain looks nice though, might be worth a look at the command edition for the terrain and slightly bulk up the necron units. (SM look like a bad deal in the starters to be honest)

Ah. Recruit has the LT equivalents, Command and elite have captains. Curious what the cost difference between command and elite is, since the minis are duplicated and the real terrain is the actual choice involved.

What a mess of an FAQ. The kustom jobs were pretty much mandatory to make some of our units worth their cost and you paid CP for them

I mean it was kind of there the whole time. The stratagem said "Your army can have one additional Kustom Job" and the Kustom Job page says "If your army includes one or more MEKBOY WORKSHOP units, you can give one of the following Kustom Jobs to an ORK unit from your army."

We just kind of read what we wanted to there.

If we "we" you mean "GW's own PR team when trying to sell you the book," then yeah. They repeatedly stated in their PR releases that you didn't need a workshop.

Btw FWIW when they lied about the rules in Pariah re: Inquisition forces in other detachments I sent them an email protesting it, two weeks later I got back a response that didn't acknowledge the lie and just said "we've forwarded this to the community team." So I wouldn't expect anything this time either. Apparently GW doesn't consider it false advertising to try to sell you their books based on one set of rules then give you a different set of rules when you actually buy them.

Wait, what? Where are we seeing the doom thingy as ETB? The reanimator in Indomitus is ETB but I’ve not heard that the full-release kit will be.

The more I look at the starter the less I like it specially when I looked again at Dark Imperium content... WOW!

I know I know terrain and all. Meh.

Depends on price for starter but ya Indomitus is a great deal and these starters will likely not be as good... I’ll just wait for the terrain to be sold seperarely. I’m a little filled up on pipes though...

eh Saga said "These rules can be used with mekshop workshop OR by using kustom job stratagem".

It was 100% clear on Saga you don't need mekboy workshop. Just check grammar for word "OR".

Either GW tried to boost workshop sales by CHANGING the rule or they goofballed. Redaction now claims error. Or it was attempt to change but it backfired with email box being swamped and they decided not worth it after all.

I expect that’s something coming with new codexes only. But you’re right, he’s a prime candidate.
Probably the first one will be Szarekh though.

Well he’s a completely new datasheet that was supposedly made for 9th edition....
You would think he would get it.
But I agree it’s likely some BS to make us wait for a codex in 2021 and the first supreme commander will be the silent king...
This is just another easily avoidable issue making orks much harder to build usable army lists that could have been fixed.

They have thier own faq for a detachment if anything it will likely be a single character... I’m not even sure farsight will beat out shea
Silent king for necrons will likely be the first official one

All 3 of those boxes are pretty "meh" for a Starter.

Terrain seems like a cheap/weak way to "increase value" and leave out minis.

The Doomstalker and Reanimator aren't even the same size. They look super similar but if you look the Doomstalker is considerably taller and has a bigger base.

Indeed. Besides, the prices of all GW terrain just went up. It is possible that the price of this new starter will be the same as buying those terrain kits separately, essentially giving the rules and extra minis for free. I could be down with that, even though I am hesitant towards buying a physical rulebook (still cannot understand GW has dropped support for selling digital rulebooks.. a tough pill to swallow)
