Honestly, I'm gonna be simple.
Of the two armies I play, I just hope they're fun to play with, and fun to play against. I'm not competitive enough to let an edition ruin my army for me. I'll still collect, paint, and play narrative or oddball games.

Please no. We're playing a 28mm game, making eighteen-inch-tall models and then expecting anything short of a Knight to do anything to them in melee just looks silly, especially when you then expect them to keep character protection (Guilliman hiding behind Guardsmen?). A plastic Avatar the size of the Yncarne or the Forge World one should be plenty.

For Ministorum: Bring back the Frateris Militia! GW can just say "use Necromunda miniatures" (whatever faction works best), if they don't want to make new models.
Also, please take the Rough Riders (Roughriders?) more seriously; I love them. In keeping with the theme, I like the Chaos Juggernaut too.

Personally, I'd love a proper codex for the Gretchin Revolutionary Committee! It would probably never happen, but it'd be so fun, maybe even with new models just for them! On a more possible note, a cheaper Stompa would be awesome and I'd love some more Ork psykers, just because I love psychic powers.

I want the basic, classic style of MeQ army to be functional, and reasonably competitive (A- at least.) for loyalists and Chaos of every type. The type of army being a bunch of dudes in rhinos, a couple HQs, and some dreads/predators/vindicators, etc. Maybe a deepstriking terminator or assault squad.
I'd also like footslogging melee units to have a decent role and not be totally worthless like they have been for 8th so far.

When I first took a foray into Warhammer 40k past the books, I believe Necropolis had just been released- and so I decided that maybe I should try 40k (I'd already been playing Warhammer fantasy). I remember going and being curious about Chaos forces that weren't Chaos Marines, and being completely baffled that this wasn't at least one of the top four or five armies out there- and it didn't even actually exist. Still to this day not sure why this is a thing.

Probably because they figured we could just glue spikes onto Guardsmen and call it good. Forge World used to have some great rules for them, but those got worse over time before being pulled completely.

They were markers that you put next to the target unit and you could "spend" to gain bonuses when attacking it.
So maybe you put 4 lights on a target, then your riptide shoots on it and you decide to spend 2 lights to negate cover for that attack.

I agree. I'd like a general fix to tank guns rather that patching the faction's "main tank" with a fire better for moving slow rule.

That would be basically FNP...Roll once, if you pass you live, if you fail you die. Only thing is it would be inferior with multi wound models(better for 1 wound models vs multi damage hit). Automatically Appended Next Post: carldooley wrote:for Tau:

Ugh no for 1. That's so damn frustrating for opponent being basically unable to shoot at them. Especially now with even more terrain it basically kills off any shooting that's not indirect. Move shoot move in game system after game system tends to just break things up. Generally games where that's possible it's the side that has most of that that is the most broken army.

I agree. The Marine book, supplements, PA did a great job bringing Marines up to a real threat on the table and giving a thorough and varied feel to each subfaction. The fact it's the exception and not the rule is the issue.
9th would be an amazing time if they lavished the other races with that level of attention.

TBF as a chaos player, can we talk how mainline CSM clone tanks are just baseline worse then SM ones, because of the unequal trait system?
Could we please remedy that?
Also whoever thought a leman russ should be cheaper then an AC predator with sponsons should seriously consider just stop writing rules period.

Also whoever thought a leman russ should be cheaper then an AC predator with sponsons should seriously consider just stop writing rules period.
Because a Leman Russ is considered "core" to the IG faction and is thus looked at for buffs when it sucks [The Leman Russ has received 2 cost reductions and a major buff since the edition dropped], while the Predator just kind of exists [having received 0 direct buffs since the edition dropped]. At the edition drop, they probably were about right relative to each other and both sucked really bad. The Leman Russ was looked at and buffed because the IG are about tanks and the LRBT is core to the IG identity, the Predator was ignored because it's not. It's also worth mention that the Leman Russ Battle Tank itself even at it's very low cost isn't great.
And obviously, it's not like GW were ignoring Space Marine plight or anything [given the continuous cycles of buffs for Intercessors and then finally culminating in the supplements], they just focus on balancing factions around a small selection of "core" units while leaving the rest as basically fluff, and the Predator fell into the "fluff" category. And the SM line is so large that it's not really poorer in capability for the Predator not being great, nobody will notice unless you, like me like Predators.
Note how they addressed the infiltrating assault centurion [which were really, really bad before Raven Guard could infiltrate them] problem by just going "nah, can't do that anymore" rather than actually attempting to balance the ability of the unit.

The traits thing is a mess.
IMO they never should have done subfactions, much less doctrines and sacred rites and especially supplements.
Not every single narrative feature needs a rule. You can easily say "my space marines are fast and like bikes" by just including bikes in your army. And the subfactions aren't really that different, like none of the SM Chapters or Hive Fleets or Regiments are really so different or unique from each other that it warrants being whole separate sets of rules [even SW, BA, and DA, honestly]. And then a lot of times the subfaction specialization wind up being idosyncratic with the way they buff the army and the fluff: an ability to infiltrate buffs slow heavy assault infantry and not natively fast units that would actually be stealthy and launching an ambush, or an ability trait to ignore vehicle move-fire penalties for a tank-heavy army winds up being used to play air wings. An subfaction supposed to be the infantry close assault subfaction winds up being the tanks subfaction because their trait is the best for tanks. And it goes on.
They really just should have not done Chapter Tactics, much less continuously expanding the subfaction differences to every single army.

Yes please.
Also plastic Grotesques, because I am greedy. Automatically Appended Next Post: If there is one thing I'd like 9th to get rid of is sub-faction bonuses. They vary too wildly between usefulness and tend to skew balance. I mean, why balance the units because of a Saim-hann trait when Alaitoc is gamechanging trait? It usually means non-Alaitoc players end up paying for Alaitoc's sins in the long run.
If they really want to keep sub-faction traits they should be like in the Phoenix Rising. Make them sub-faction agnostic so you can make whatever combo you want.
