I used to run a 10 man of warptalons to get big combos off with them as the nightlords but at this point with no overwatch i don't see the point, I'm splitting it into 5 warptalons and 5 raptors. All my infantry are in 5 mans squads except the cultists. I don't need the morale check hazard and also the tactical flexibility makes it better for my play style

I'm sticking with 10 man squads for my warp talons. It maximizes the utility of buffs. 10 warp talons with diabolic strength on them can do a lot more damage than 5, and can spread out and lock down more units with "We Have Come For You". Same for our terminators. 10 combi-plasma terminators with "Prey On The Weak" can do a lot more damage than 5. I already run them with icons of vengeance to maximize the number of targets they can choose from, so 20 T4, 2+, 5++, LD10 wounds are pretty hard to break, especially if you use "In Midnight Clad".

Yup, my bad.
Brain doesn't work very well after a 12 hour shift. My apologies.

Well, looks like the new Coherency rules are a huge weight on the scale in favor of MSU! That'll pretty much end the debate unless something else major comes up.

It doesn't end the debate if you're planning on using any Stratagems. It doesn't really affect the aura thing either, as two 5-man squads will deploy in the same way as a single 10-man squad for Aura advantage, which is two rows of five.

The new coherency rules have made this question academic.
9th is MSU edition.

Got more than 5 models? Get hit more by blast. Got more than 5 models? Suffer auto-casualties for not having every model within 2" of 2 other models.
Take a 5 man (or lower) unit and never ever worry about these rules.

The blast rules are more problematic than the coherency ones, and the risk of blasts is going to vary from army to army. The benefits of boosting a larger squad with Stratagems is plenty enough to keep 10-man squads a consideration. The Sternguard Strat is a prime example. I'll gladly pay some extra risk for the sake of a stronger alpha strike.
Remember, gaining cover/being out of LOS is going to be easier as well with the new terrain rules. So reducing counter-fire will also be easier.

I can't see myself using a 10 man intercessor squad since the only transport would be the repulsor and I need that for aggressors

I use 10 man Intercessors as Ultramarine in 8th, at least 2 blocks of them near Calgar & Lt., or Guilliman, sometimes take an Chief Apothecary, then fill the rest troops of 2 battalion with MSU Scouts, and put Agreessors in a Repulsor. Ultramarine Intercessors are good even if you walk them up the field when they are back their commanders, and bonus if you have Chief Apothecary to give 6+++.
