Ah there it is.....i see you didn't try to say the name
lol
the rules for that thing are nasty. being able to make a move/move and then still do it's special once per game scream attack, then it's normal attack is a bubble of fire.
but their prices just keep me away.
*looks at
GW prices"
I wonder if you are aware there are 3 price levels for DUST miniatures, the un-assembled kits are cheap compared to
GW they also make them in pre-assembled and primed/decaled "ready to play" for a bit more. where they get spendy is the fully painted units-
a heavy infantry team kit is only like $20, ready to play-$35 fully painted is $65
on the flip side it helps out people who have difficulty with the building/painting side of things who just want to play.
shrapnelsmile is also correct you need alot less models to play even a huge game because it uses an alternate activation system with multiple actions per unit, you do much more with your minis.
On a 4X6 table our group has found that 150-200 points is a great game size.
At 150 my themed allied heavy ranger
TO&E force consists of 14 infantry models 1 plane and 3 ground vehicles.
.heavy ranger command squad
.heavy ranger assault squad
.heavy ranger, attack squad
.heavy ranger anti-tank squad
.2 characters (tank commanders)
.2 ranger heavy walker tanks
.command tank
.pelican fighter
the way the army build system works is also nice. there is no force org chart in the game unless you want to use a to&e themed force. you can play the game as a skirmish game all the way up to a full army so long as all the units you chjoose are from your faction block,. the game is so well written and balanced everything has a counter so no matter what you take it doesn't break the game.
A good example of that is the best infantry in the game-SSU steel guards. they can never make use of cover but have an improved infantry save that effectively grants them the benefit of cover without being in it. But if you hit them with artillery or flame weapons they are screwed since both specifically negate infantry saves (well anything fire in the game negates ALL saves)
