Really should start breaking down the infantry Sprues.

Just finished my first proper game of LI - Mechanicum against Legions Astartes. Very small, though - only about 850 points, as that's all I have finished for Astartes. I forgot to take many photos, but here is one of the proud Reaver of Legio Danica Amagria marching past a ruined building that now serves as a tomb for half a company of Emperor's Children.



My partner had garrisoned it with a detachment of ten stands, and I rolled very well on my attempt to wreck the building - only a single stand made it out alive. That probably decided the game right there, as she was in the lead point-wise before then.

Ignore the villanous Cerastus Lancer sneaking up on the flank.

It’s a veritable Hobby Frenzy in Grotsnik Acres tonight. Committed to getting all my LI stuff undercoated tonight. Tomorrow is getting the brushes out and beginning the top half gun metal drybrush.

I found a shop selling the original Epic-scale metal primarchs from 1992, and there was no way I could not buy them. They are surprisingly enjoyable to paint.

Yeah I wouldn’t be able to resist either. Lovely models, and they’ve aged remarkably well.

Got my Drop Pods undercoated now.

Settled on spraying them Doors Open first, and allowing a thorough drying time. Then, flipped them upside down, Doors Closed, using sticky putty to keep them upright.

I think it’s worked, but won’t know for sure until that cost is completely dry.

And that’s all the pre-highlight/pre-shade/I don’t know what you call it done.

Tomorrow I commence the Grim Blacking.

Getting there. Forgotten just how well Contrast and mild slap-chop works on Epic scale.

Y’know? I think I may go Dark Mechanicum as a second army.

Certainly won’t be as expansive as my Dark Angels. But those models are bloody lovely.

It’s Sunday. I am full of Roast Dinner. And I’ve just had a little Hobby Frenzy in the Hobby Grotto.

Super Heavies, Thunderhawk, Fire Raptors and Saturnine all done in Grim Black. Also made a start on the Araknae.

For anyone looking for an excuse to travel from overseas, Bristol is probably one of the most interesting cities in the UK, in my biased opinion, with excellent transport links (airport has a very high capacity on flights, and fast road/rail links to London Heathrow).

Hope a few members from the forum will be able to make it!

Really enjoying painting the Mastodons. More so that other LI, they’ve a pleasing array of wee noodly bits which, for a predominantly black colour scheme gives me some nice spot colour areas. Whilst, from what I seen, the general level of detail suits brighter, primary colour schemes without having to pick out these wee bits. Lovely stuff.

Shame you can't make Bac-Con so my lovely little speeders can make a mess of your bricks! ;p

Tanks really nearly done. Just a load of top coat red, then a tidy up here and there.

With the three flyers to be done this weekend? Here’s a money shot six weeks and a day in the making.

Termies and Dreads need their bases finishing, but with four sets of Infantry up next? That’s a Big Batch job for another day.

That is a fantastic looking force MDG! The black and red colour combo works really nice across the army there I think.

Infantry next. Will start tomorrow by getting the Dreadnoughts built and based, and Missile Launchers on shoulders.

I’ve just had a daft, possibly terrific idea.

I can make tee shirts. Well. I can print tee shirts.

So….I get a white tee in my preferred size. I then print my army list, mirrored, on my Magic Printer with the Magic Ink. And I print it onto the tee.

Bingo. No need to carry copy lists. I AM a copy list!
