Hello!

I just bought (again) some Eldars for the 9th edition, but I'm struggling to chose my color scheme...

I looked for an idea on Deviantart, Pinterest, Flickr and so on, but i didn't find anything that makes me want to paint :/

I don't have any favourite colors on top of that...

So, do you guys have some original scheme ideas (with 2/3 main colors) for an Eldar army? Share pictures if you have some, thanks !

Have you looked at some of the lesser craftworlds such as Yme-Loc, Iybraesil, Il-Kaithe and the like?

In the words of a song black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow

I have this scheme: https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-92012-61014_Argives%20Tricksy%20Eldars%20-%20Nesh-ravan%20Craftworld.html

But I wouldint recommend it as putting yellow over black is a biiiiiiiiaaach

Id buy an old codex or flick through some wiki pages and pick the one you like most.
No harm with going for one of the the off the shelf schemes for the established craftworlds if you dig it.

I was trilled and completly shocked by this painting scheme. I would like to do it myself!

While the colours themselves is OK, it is the glitter part that I was floored by!

Glitter! On my toy solidiers! This is HERESY of the highest order!!! * Shakes angry fist*

Thats a very interesting technique for the heads. The results look legit hard to argue.
Would have to see it in person though.

The flame sword technique is legit good. Im going to steal that for sure.

Thanks for the tutorial.
Very useful.

Try looking at the lesser known craftworlds. I do Yme-loc for my Eldar and so many people are surprised by them just because orange isn't a color people use as a base for any army. If you want to see how Yme-loc look i have some pics in my gallery. You could also swipe a color scheme from another faction. You could also mix and match by swiping another faction's scheme and add the glitter.

Do the yellow FIRST, and then use the black to clean up the edges. MUCH easier that way.

I advise finding colors you enjoy painting, and using that for your main color. There's nothing worse than trying to paint an army in a color you have real trouble painting to your satisfaction.

Ok guys, the 3 finalists :

As I really like the Sons of Horus colors, the 3d one is my favorite for the moment, the first one is a bit too cold (but i love the purple), and the second one is a bit too.."classic". What do you think?

Pruple and white is always a good combination.

Although I do not understand the models you post. Are you going to paint them to that degree? Shurly you are better off looking at porly painted models instead of well painted once. This will help distinguis a good colourscheme from a good paint jobb.

Well, I have the chance to count Jonathan Gonthier (a golden demon winner) as a friend of mine, he taught me how to paint a long time ago, so I'm pretty good at it ^^

So with my scheme, I had originally gone for Biel-Tan, but 13 year old me at the time couldn't paint white and I still can't now so I went with a bone colour to add some variation to a predominantly green scheme and then added accent colours with purples for gems and blues for canopies.

Here are some examples, one more recent tank I've painted up and an army shot so you get an idea of what they're like on the table. Also some banshees to show how the scheme can be modified to suit aspects:

The bone and green was quite pleasant to be honest.

Do you have some ideas about the lore of those Eldars ?
That might help you a lot to come up with a color scheme.

If I were to paint Eldar I would choose a dark rich purple and toned down copper / gold + a complimentary color for the details.
This would represent to me their past and decadence, their dark side and lust etc

Bon courage pour ta nouvelle armee!

Thanks for sharing, beautiful army, but i'm trying to avoid classic craftworld schemes as i want to switch their special rules from time to time, and right now I'm playing with the PA book attributes

Yep, that's my favorite, if I do this scheme though, I will probably paint a more "sons of horus" green, a bit more like this :

Yep, I want a Corsair theme, many of my miniatures will have some conversions here and there. For example, for my Avengers, I will take the bodies of the Elfheim BB team and add the arms/weapons and helmets from the Avengers.
I like purple myself, but that's common on Eldars so :/

Merci

Yeah, so I've deviated far enough from Biel-Tan at this point that it is my own Craftworld now

I've painted SoH in the past like that and I used the guide by Dorn's Arrow, which is where it seems you've gotten the image from! That would be an awesome scheme to copy over to some Eldar.

Love that white and purple scheme, really pops.
Can "warm" it up a bit by shifting one step towards bone and tinkering with your purple.

What about some dark brown or dark red or even a brownish red + copper / gold to fit in your corsair theme ?

Yep but i'm afraid of the result on large minis like vehicles, there will be too much white to my taste...

Nope, because as I said, i want to avoid classic schemes
